At this time, Sun Ce consulted Zhang Hong, a famous scholar from Yangzhou who also guarded filial piety here, in Jiangdu, and this dialogue was also the second pair of "Jiangdu Pairs" among the "Four Great Pairs" (Note 1) of the Three Kingdoms Era.

In the fourth year of Chuping (193), after Sun Ce's filial piety was completed, he was ready to leave Jiangdu, when Zhang Hong, a famous scholar in Yangzhou, was also living in Jiangdu because of his mother's death. Sun Ce met several times and studied the general trend of the world with him.

According to the "Records of the Wu Calendar", it was Sun Ce who first expressed his views in his heart at that time: "At present, the Han Zuo is in decline, the world is in chaos, and the heroes and heroes are all supporting the army and self-respecting, each planning to develop, and even no one is out of public desire to help the trouble." His father once broke Dong Zhuo with the Yuan family, but his exploit failed, and he was unfortunately killed by Huang Zu. Although I am young and knowledgeable, I have the heart to make a career. Now, I want to go to Yuan Shu and ask him to hand over my father's old ministry to me, and then go to Danyang to rely on my uncle Wu Jing, collect scattered soldiers, and take revenge on Wu County and Huiji in the east, and become a foreign vassal who submits to the imperial court. What do you think? ”

Zhang Hong pushed: "I see the simplicity, and besides, I am in mourning, it is really difficult to help you with your affairs." ”

Sun Ce further requested: "Your great name is well-known. People from all over the world yearn for admiration. Whether or not I succeed in these plans is up to you to decide. You have to be straight with me. If my ambition is extended, and my vengeance is avenged, I will never forget the grace of your teachings. Speaking of emotion, Sun Ce unconsciously shed tears in his eyes.

Zhang Hong was deeply moved when he saw Sun Ce's generous words and his expression exuding loyalty and heroism, and finally expressed his opinion to Sun Ce: "When the Zhou Dynasty was late in Daoling, the Duke of Qi Huan and the Duke of Wen of Jin could rise at the right time; Once the royal family is at peace, the princes can only pay tribute to the Zhou Dynasty and do their duty as courtiers. If you can really live in Danyang and gather Wu County and Huiji soldiers and horses, then Jingyang Erzhou can be swept away, and revenge is just around the corner. At that time, you relied on the Yangtze River, worked hard to be virtuous, swept away the heroes, and supported the Han Dynasty, and the achievements you built would never be inferior to Qi Huan and Jin Wen, and you would definitely be famous for eternity, how could you not just be a foreign domain? If you want to make a difference, you should go south, and I will support you with my friends. ”

Sun Ce listened to Zhang Hong's words, and his heart was turbulent: "That word is a certainty!" I'll get started right away! It's just that I have an old mother and a young brother, and it is inconvenient to go with me, so now I entrust them all to you. I hope you will take care of me so that I have no worries. ”

[Gather the old department, sit south and look north]

Later generations called this dialogue between Sun Ce and Zhang Hong "Jiangdu Right", which was also the first clear strategic policy of the Soochow Group, and Sun Ce's later actions were generally in line with the plan of "Jiangdu Right".

There are two main points in the plan of "Jiangdu Pair", one is the "convening of the old department" proposed by Sun Ce himself, and the other is the "sitting in the south and looking at the north" added by Zhang Hong. Neither of these points is difficult to understand.

When Sun Ce was about to go out of the mountain, although the overall situation of the world was far from clear, he himself lacked strength, lack of support, no strength to compete for hegemony in the world, no independent party of capital, and only his own talent and ambition.

Although Sun Ce has no strength, the remnants of his father Sun Jian are still there, but they are controlled by Yuan Shu, and his uncle Wu Jing is still the Taishou of Danyang, and there are all the elite soldiers in that place. So at this time, Sun Ce's choice to rely on Yuan Shu to get back his father's subordinates was already an inevitable choice, after all, the Sun family's network was in the Yuan Shu group.

And after getting back his father's old ministry from Yuan Shu, Sun Ce's idea was to use this refined old army as his future backbone, and then go to Danyang to gather troops with the help of relatives, go south to seize Wu County and Huiji, and accumulate strength to avenge his father Sun Jian.

Sun Ce's idea is good, but it is a little too satisfying.

Sun Ce's target is Wu County and Huiji in Jiangdong, both of which are in Yangzhou region, of which Wu County is still Sun Ce's hometown, but the strongest force in Yangzhou is Yuan Shu, and Sun Jian's relatives at that time were basically under Yuan Shu, and his cousin Sun Ben and uncle Wu Jing were both in high positions.

In Sun Ce's consideration, Yuan Shu was not fully taken into account, but without Yuan Shu's cooperation, Sun Ce's plan was not likely to succeed, not to mention anything else, as long as Yuan Shu did not return Sun Jian's old department to Sun Ce, Sun Ce didn't even start, not to mention that Wu Jing was also Yuan Shu's subordinate at that time, and he was subject to Yuan Shu, and he had to have Yuan Shu's consent if he wanted to help Sun Ce. What's more, Yangzhou is also Yuan Shu's target, and it is impossible for him to give it to Sun Ce without anything.

So after Sun Ce went to Yuan Shu's side, things didn't go exactly according to Sun Ce's ideas, he originally simply wanted to get back his father's army, and then based on this, he fought another piece of the world, but it turned out to be a "backdoor egg", which happened a lot of twists and turns, and he also became a general under Yuan Shu, but no matter what, Sun Ce finally achieved the initial goal, he seized Jiangdong with the help of Yuan Shu's name and power, and became the Jiangdong Xiaoba of Megatron.

Zhang Hong supplemented Sun Ce's ideas, to be precise, he set a greater goal for Sun Ce, Sun Ce was only ready to occupy the two counties of Yangzhou, avenge his father, and be an outsider, but Zhang Hong thought that Sun Ce should have greater ambitions, that is, "sit in the south and look north".

In Zhang Hong's plan, after Sun Ce seized Wu County and Huiji, he should further seize the whole of Yangzhou, take revenge on Liu Biao, and then control Jingzhou, so that he basically controlled the south of the Yangtze River, which is "sitting in the south".

And after Sun Ce controlled Jingzhou and Yangzhou, he had enough strength to dominate the world, at least he could establish the merits of Duke Huan of Qi and Duke Wen of Jin, and even further, although it was said that it was Kuang Fu Han Dynasty, but what it was actually was, everyone knew very well in their hearts, this is also "Wangbei".

Compared with Yuan Shao, Sun Ce's strength at that time was much weaker, so Zhang Hong's strategy was not "first south and then north" corresponding to the frustrated "first north and then south", but a more practical way to sit south and look north, after all, when the "Jizhou pair" was proposed, Yuan Shao had already occupied Jizhou and had a great prestige, and when Sun Quan and Lu Su talked about "collapsing on the right", Sun Quan had already occupied Jiangdong, even when the "Longzhong pair" was born, although the imperial uncle was still subservient, but at least he had his own power, only Sun Ce, There was almost nothing at that time.
