Chapter 294 China's Energy Strategic Deployment
For a superpower, it is easy to conquer a small country by military means, but to subjugate a nation psychologically, so that the conquered nation has a sense of identity with the conqueror, is a rather long process and a rather arduous task.
In order to let the Emirate of Kuwait have a sense of identity and belonging to China, the new protector, then the first is cultural identity, and the philosophical ideas of yin and yang and the five elements of yin and yang, Confucian ethics and morality in traditional Chinese cultural education, as well as the existing [***] thoughts, it is difficult for the people of the Emirate of Kuwait who believe in Islam to have a sense of identity. So where did the cultural conquest and cultural invasion begin?
No matter who they are, what kind of social form they have, or what kind of beliefs they have, one thing is absolutely the same, that is, people have to eat when they live. The study of food, also known as food culture, is due to the long and short history of a country, the territory is large and small, the strength is strong and weak, the population is more or less, and the ethnic composition, religious beliefs, political power and economic structure are also different, so the formation of different food culture in various countries.
China has a long history and a vast territory, with a large population and many unique customs and habits. In terms of eating, it has formed a world-famous Chinese food culture and created a Chinese cooking technique that shines in the annals of history. It has formed a colorful feast and a colorful flavor genre, a broad and profound, brilliant Chinese food culture, and is known as the "culinary kingdom" by the world.
The Emirate of Kuwait accounts for 38 per cent of the total population, predominantly Arabs, while the remaining 62 per cent are Palestinians, Egyptians, Indians, Iranians, Pakistanis and other Arabs. 95% of the inhabitants are Muslims. Islamic teachings emphasize "pure and unblemished" and "truth is unique", so its diet has formed a unique pattern, called "halal cuisine".
Kuwaitis have the following characteristics in their dietary habits: they pay attention to the color, flavor and beauty of dishes, high quality and small quantity; The taste is generally not too salty, and loves slightly sour and spicy. The staple food is mainly rice, and noodles such as steamed dumplings are also eaten; Muslims strictly abstain from eating pork, self-dead animals, blood, 17 types of birds and beasts, horses, mules, donkeys and other ungulates. Therefore, Kuwaitis people love beef, mutton, camel meat, chicken, duck, goose meat and eggs. Vegetables like tomatoes, cucumbers, pumpkins, eggplants, onions, cabbage, potatoes, etc.; Seasonings like olive oil, cloves, cardamom, tulip, coriander, etc. The preparation method prefers dishes made by cooking methods such as cold salad, roasting, and stir-frying. Their eating habit is to sit on the floor and eat with their hands.
As China's oil exploration army marched into Kuwait, China's construction, wholesale, retail, catering, hotel, transportation, warehousing and communications industries, finance, real estate and business services and other industries also entered Kuwait. These service industries have brought great changes to the lives of Kuwaitis, and China's cultural and psychological conquest of the Emirate of Kuwait began with the invasion of food culture.
In Kuwait, where the majority of the country's population is concentrated, Chinese hotels and restaurants have sprung up in every corner of the city in Hawali and Faervania.
The major cuisines of Sichuan, Shandong, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Fujian, Zhejiang, Hunan, Hui and Beijing show different cultural tastes and reflect different values from various perspectives such as era and technique, region and economy, ethnicity and religion, food and utensils, consumption and level, folk customs and functions, etc., with their profound and extensive relationship between food and art, food and art, food and life. "Color, fragrance and taste" are complete. The realm of the harmony of the five flavors is said to be the cooking method of the strange and changing each other, and the food concept is pleasant and pleasant. It has a natural beauty that is different from the food culture of overseas countries. In addition to paying attention to the color matching of dishes, Chinese food culture should also match the atmosphere of the meal to produce a kind of taste, so that the surnames and traditions of the Chinese nation can be highlighted.
Sour kimchi, stewed beef, roast mutton, shabu mutton, stewed mutton, stir-fried mutton, kebabs, fried lamb tail, roasted whole lamb, slippery tenderloin, stir-fried shredded beef, crispy chicken, stewed chicken, Yanjing roast duck, fried lychee, fried eggplant clips, cloud pigeon eggs, amber peach kernels, steamed grouper, red stewed prawns, hand-grasped mutton, barbecue and other flavor dishes. With its abundant accumulation, Chinese food culture has made bold innovations in Kuwait's traditional food - roasted whole camel. There are also some snacks in the halal series that are also quite distinctive, such as Yanjing's pot stickers and mutton dumplings, Xi'an's mutton steamed buns, and Lanzhou's beef noodles, which also have unique flavors. With a long-standing culture with a wide vision, deep level, multi-angle and high taste, Chinese food culture is conquering the oral taste buds of Kuwait while conquering their hearts.
Kuwaitis love to eat Chinese food. They regard Chinese food as the best and most beautiful meal in the world, and they often take pride in eating Chinese food. Even their habit of sitting on the floor and eating with their hands is influenced by Chinese food culture, using tables, chairs and chopsticks. People of a certain level in Kuwait will scoff and disdain it when they see someone still eating rice with their hands.
Learning Chinese has become popular in Kuwait. If you don't speak the last two sentences of Chinese, it is a symbol of no culture and inferiority. Just like many "elites" in later generations in China, when they speak, they have to clip one or two English words. The gross national economic product is not called the gross national economic product, it is called GDP, and the opening up is not called opening up, so it is called 0pen. Otherwise, it's not enough to prove that you're different. It seems that the "elites" of various countries are all the same.
Located in the eastern part of the Arabian Peninsula, bordering the Persian Gulf in the north, with a coastline of 734 kilometers, bordering Qatar in the northwest and Saudi Arabia in the west and south, this 83,600 square kilometers of land later known as the UAE is full of Chinese figures, and they have extensive contact with the seven Trusil Oman sheikhs of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Ferjla, um Al Quwain and Aqiman, trying to meet their requirements and establish friendship with them. And then from their hands in every possible way to acquire land for the undiscovered future oil fields. Or from some British and French colonizers, they acquired land ownership of some oil fields that had not yet been discovered. In October 1957, China's Shannan Special Economic Zone Oil Company discovered oil in the um el-Shaif submarine oil field, about 125 kilometers off the coast of Abu Dhabi. China bought Das Island, about 30 kilometers west of Abu Dhabi, from the sheikh of Abu Dhabi. The Shannan Special Zone Petroleum Company built an oil pipeline to the oil tanker terminal established on the seabed to Das Island.
Of course, China's oil exploitation in the region has also brought benefits to the locals and increased their employment.
In Africa, China has also bought large quantities of land with large oil reserves underground. However, because China does not have such a large extraction power for a while, and the country does not need so much oil, it is not in a hurry to buy these oil fields as an energy reserve.
The vast majority of China's domestic oil fields have been mothballed, including Deng Feng, who was reclaimed in the eastern and northern continental shelf oceans of Sakhalin during the Sino-Soviet war, and before this era, 45 billion barrels of recoverable oil and gas equivalent reserves, or about 7 billion tons, were discovered. Oil fields, equivalent to the sum of the oil and gas reserves currently found in Europe, are also in no hurry to develop. When the rest of the world has exhausted the oil, it will not be too late to do so.
In January 1963, seven sheikhs, including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Ferjla, um Al Quwain, and Ajman, were led by the Chinese organization to hold a meeting at the Bank of China Tower in Dubai, and one of the seven countries reached an agreement on the establishment of the "Shannan-Arab Emirate Federation of China" and decided to unilaterally abolish the "permanent truce treaty" called "Trusil Oman" that Britain forced the seven Arab emirates in the Gulf to conclude. On 10 February, Britain was forced to announce the termination of all treaties with the Gulf emirates. On November 11 of the same year, the "China Shannan-United Arab Emirates" was established as a federal state consisting of the seven emirates of China's Shannan Special Economic Zone, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Ferjla, um Al Quwain, and Ajman.
The "Shannan-United Arab Emirates of China" established the National Assembly as the legislative body, and the Falekaupule is composed of members of the chieftainate families of the seven emirates and the Administrative Committee of the Shannan Special Administrative Region of China, which is the highest organ of power, and the supreme chief of the Falekaupule is the nominal head of state, and the real power is in the cabinet, and its head is the prime minister.
When Deng Feng and his team formulated their oil strategy and made strategic energy deployment to China, it was impossible not to take into account the rich oil reserves in the South China Sea. According to previous information leaks, the Americans helped Vietnam, and the Philippines explored and developed oil reserves in the South China Sea more than 50 billion tons. This is nearly 20 times that of China's Daqing oilfield, which has 2.7 billion tons of reserves. Therefore, some people in later generations once said that China was robbed of the "20 Daqing" by countries such as Vietnam and the Philippines. For such a large-scale loss of national resources, almost all Chinese are asking, what do the leaders and troops of China, the world's second largest economy, eat?
In the past 30 years, from the 80s to the time when Deng Feng and his gang arrived, the countries surrounding the South China Sea have illegally included more than 3 million square kilometers of China's maritime area into their national territory of about 800,000 square kilometers. The sovereignty of the Nansha Islands belongs to China, and there are a large number of historical materials and legal basis, and before the 50s, it was also recognized by the world map published by the United Kingdom, including the neighboring Philippines and other countries. However, since the 80s, neighboring countries have seized 45 islands and reefs of China, including 30 in Vietnam, 10 in the Philippines, and 5 in Malaysia.
Some people have proposed that "sovereignty belongs to us and joint development" and "sovereignty belongs to me," but neighboring countries occupy more than 40 islands and reefs in Nansha, while the two sides of the China Strait together have only stationed seven islands and reefs.
"Joint development", but the neighboring countries exploit tens of millions of tons of oil in Nansha every year, and China, a major country in charge, in order to maintain the harmonious society of friendly relations between the neighboring countries, has not yet developed a drop of oil in Nansha until the "base" came to this era. Not to mention development, even China's oil exploration in the Spratlys will be stranded due to violent obstruction and sabotage by neighboring countries. This cannot but make anyone with a little bit of a Chinese heart feel extremely indignant.
When the "base" comes to this era, under the leadership of the supreme chief, it will certainly no longer be this "cowardice". Those who offend my China will be punished even if they are far away, let alone offend my China to "home".
Deng Feng: When formulating China's oil strategy, the first thing they considered was to completely change the situation in which the two sides of the Taiwan Strait in the South China Sea were more and more intimidating in the future.
In 1956, just after China's naval build-up had improved, the Supreme Commander ordered the South China Sea Fleet of the Chinese People's Liberation Army to occupy Woody Island in the Xisha Islands, the largest island in the Nanhai Zhudao, and Taiping Island, the largest island in the Nansha Islands, in order to safeguard the sovereignty and territorial sea security of the People's Republic of China in the South China Sea and China's maritime rights and interests.
Taiping Island is located in the northwest of the Nansha Islands, known as the "heart of the South China Sea", about 400 nautical miles from the Xisha Islands garrisoned by the Chinese People's Liberation Army, 860 nautical miles from Kaohsiung City on the main island of Taiwan, about 440 nautical miles from the Subic Bay base in the Philippines, and only 540 nautical miles from Singapore at the east mouth of the Malacca Strait. In addition, Taiping Island has extremely important strategic value in terms of waterway safety, maritime disaster notification, meteorological monitoring in the South China Sea, and international flight information. In peacetime, it can be used as a fishing base and provide various navigation services for passing ships, and in wartime, it can be used as a base and relay station for aircraft and ship activities.
In 1946, when the then Chinese political axe recovered the sovereignty of the Nansha Islands after the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, the Kuomintang Navy Captain Yao Ruyu led four warships, including the "Taiping Ship" and the "Zhongye Ship", to re-erect a monument on the island, proclaiming China's sovereignty and naming it after the flagship of the receiving fleet, the "Taiping Ship". In 1950, the Kuomintang troops were driven out of Hainan Island, and the island-guarding troops of the Kuomintang Navy's "Nansha Management Office" set up on Taiping Island took the "Zhongsheng Ship" to withdraw the personnel, materials and equipment on Taiping Island to Taiwan. The military and civilians of the Philippines entered Taiping Island and other islands to steal phosphate ore on a large scale.
On February 12, 1956, the South China Sea Fleet of the Chinese People's Liberation Army sent 286 officers and men of the First Marine Division of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy, more than 400 infrastructure engineering troops, and two "Hunter" armed helicopters to arrive at Taiping Island, which is about 1,289.3 meters long from east to west, about 365.7 meters wide from north to south, and has an area of 0.49 square kilometers, aboard two LST1 tank landing ships, one 10,000-ton fire support ship, one 5,600-ton bulk carrier material supply ship, and four ships. The Filipino army on Taiping Island and the Filipino people who were mining phosphate ore on Taiping Island and other islands were expelled. It took over Taiping Island, established the Nansha Garrison Area of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, formally fulfilled its national defense obligations in the South China Sea, and began to build Taiping Island, the only one in the Nansha Islands with fresh water resources.
