As part of the Battle of Laoshan, the operation of Zheyin Mountain was carried out by the 31st Division of the 11th Army. In order to greatly deter the enemy, the core of the order given to the 31st Division by the 11th Army was just two words, "Encircle and annihilate!" ”

According to the pre-war reconnaissance, the Annam army that occupied and defended the Yinshan area was the 3rd Independent Battalion of An Minh County, the 6th Company of the County Team, the 105th Public Security Tun, the 5th Battalion of the 877th Regiment of the 2nd Military Region of North Vietnam (6 companies missing), the 1st Battalion of the 21st Special Agent, and the reconnaissance team and youth stormtrooper of the Ha Giang Provincial Military Headquarters stationed in An Minh County.

In the mountainous and jungle areas where the terrain and topography are extremely complicated, it is not easy to encircle and annihilate the enemy's strongly-fortified mountain fortresses. In order to achieve the campaign objectives, our 31st Division made full preparations for the campaign.

At 6:40 a.m. on April 30, 1984, the artillery fire of our artillery group was ready to begin, and the battle of Yinshan of the seizer began.

As soon as the artillery preparations were over, the 93rd Battalion of the 1st Regiment was on the north side of the 1250 Heights and quickly opened a minefield access road. The 2nd Battalion of the 92nd Regiment also opened an attack route on the north side of the 995.5 high ground and the north side of the 1052.4 high ground. The attack channel was quickly opened, and the two flanks interspersed detachments stepped on the smoke of artillery fire, and quickly interspersed from the heights of 1171 and 1047 respectively to the intended target.

The interspersed troops of the 92nd Regiment quickly interspersed into place. At 7:10, the 2nd Company of the 92nd Regiment suddenly appeared under the enemy's nose, and before the enemy could react, the 2nd Company launched an attack and quickly captured the No. 39 Heights after fierce fighting.

The rest of the detachments also progressed smoothly, with the 4th Company of the 93rd Regiment capturing Heights 1185 and 1216, and the 5th Company attacking from Heights 1185 to Heights 26. At this point, not long after the battle began, the attacking detachments had basically reached a tactical encirclement of the 3rd Independent Battalion of Anming County.

At 7:22, the 5th Company of the 92nd Regiment captured Heights No. 12. The 1st Battalion of the 93rd Regiment launched a thunderous attack on the two unnamed heights in front of Heights 11. The 6th and 5th companies of the 92nd Regiment launched an attack in advance according to the effect of artillery fire, and successively occupied the 1052.4 heights, the 14th, the 9th and 10th heights.

At 7:30 a.m., the artillery fire of our artillery group was extended, and all attack detachments launched an attack on all fronts. The 5th Company of the 93rd Regiment took the lead, and the troops followed one after another, not giving the enemy a chance to breathe, and quickly captured the No. 15 height.

At this time, the enemy had already determined the intention of our army, quickly adjusted its deployment, and ordered the 105th Public Security Tun, the 5th Company of the 877th Regiment, and about 1 company of the Youth Stormtrooper to attack along the back of the northwest side of Heights 41 and the northeast side of Heights 680 respectively, in an attempt to seize Yinshan, the reinforcements of the road.

Relying on the favorable terrain of the No. 39 Height, the 2nd Company of our 92nd Regiment waited for the enemy to approach the position 30 meters before opening fire with light and heavy firearms at the same time, quickly defeating the enemy. An hour later, the 105th Public Security Tun, the Youth Stormtrooper, and the 5th Company of the 877th Regiment of the Annan Army, roaring, once again launched a group charge on the No. 39 Heights.

After repelling this attack, the 2nd Company of our 92nd Regiment quickly carried out a counterattack on the battlefield and suppressed the enemy alive.

At 8:46, the 5th Company of our 93rd Regiment captured the No. 26 Heights after fierce fighting, forming a four-sided encirclement of Chaishanbao and Xinzhai, and the enemy defenders could only rely on the strong fortifications of the 1250 and 1142 Heights to hold on and wait for reinforcements.

When reinforcements failed, the front command of the enemy's Second Military Region took advantage of the favorable conditions of heavy fog and extremely low visibility on the front line to send a special team of more than 30 people to secretly infiltrate and attack from Heights 42 to Heights 662 and 39 respectively, in an attempt to tear a hole in the right flank, open a passage for reinforcements, disrupt the deployment of our troops, and relieve the siege of Chaishan Fort.

This is an extremely vicious move in the battle for the battlefield. The secret service unit of the Annam Army, which had endured a long war with the M Army during the Vietnam War, made the M Army suffer a lot.

Due to the experience of the Laoshan battlefield, our 31st Division did full targeted training before the war, and the vigilance of all attack detachments was extremely high. The 2nd and 4th companies of the 92nd Regiment went out to reconnoitre, and the light and dark observation posts discovered the figure of the enemy special forces in time in the dense fog. The soldiers lay on their positions and braked quietly, and only after the enemy had all penetrated into the "pockets" we had set up, did the two companies use heavy fire to wipe out the enemy in front of the position cleanly and completely, and crush their tactical attempts.

Without giving the enemy time to react, the 93rd Battalion of the 3rd Regiment quickly launched an attack on the 1142 heights. The 9th and 8th companies supported each other and at 9:15 a.m., they quickly captured the high ground.

At 9:34, the 5th Company of the 93rd Regiment launched an attack on Chaishanbao and Xinzhai from the 24th Heights. The 92nd Company of the 4th Regiment captured the 918 heights. At this point, the escape route of the enemy defenders at Fort Chaishan has been completely cut off.

At 10:30, the 5th Company of the 93rd Regiment was like a sharp knife, quickly inserting into the enemy's core position and capturing the surface positions of Chaishanbao and Xinzhai. The 3rd Independent Battalion of the enemy's Anming County retreated to the core position of the 1250 Heights, trying to hold on and wait for reinforcements.

While the 1st Battalion of our 93rd Regiment occupied the surface position, it quickly adjusted its attack position and quickly launched an attack on the core position of the 1250 Heights. The soldiers braved the enemy's dense bunker firepower, and from time to time destroyed one peripheral pillbox after another with eighty-two or rockets.

The enemy also spared no effort to reinforce the 1250 core position, and the 2 companies of the enemy's 877th Regiment, despite the soldiers falling in batches, desperately rushed to the 1250 heights. When the attacking force was determined to cripple this reinforcement enemy, and when it advanced to the front line of the road on the southeast side of Heights 26, the 6th Company of our 93rd Regiment quickly occupied the favorable terrain of Heights 26, and the 4th Company advanced from Heights 1185 to the unnamed heights on the southwest side, quickly surrounded the enemy, and completely cut off the retreat of the enemy's reinforcements.

The 6th and 4th companies of our 93rd Regiment coordinated with each other, and after a round of rapid firepower, they took advantage of the enemy's unstable foothold and quickly launched an attack. The enemy left 54 corpses and 2 captured, and quickly dispersed, and the reinforcement attempt was completely defeated.

At the same time as the 6th and 4th companies were reinforced, the 1st Battalion of our 93rd Regiment also took the initiative to cooperate with the 8th Company to completely capture the core position of the 1250 Heights.

At this point, the enemy's strongly-fortified Yinshan Mountain was captured by our attacking troops. All our units participating in the battle have been transferred to an all-round search and suppression to expand the results of the battle. In this battle, from the preparation of artillery fire, to the main peak of Yinshan Mountain, the whole line was conquered, the battlefield was cleared, and the whole army was transferred to the defense, which took only five and a half hours.

In order to complete the defense system, the 31st Division took advantage of the great victory, and the divisional reconnaissance company occupied Heights 82 and 961 successively. On May 1, the 2nd Company of the 92nd Regiment captured Jiangli Gong'an Tun. On 6 May, the divisional reconnaissance company occupied the mountain behind Nala. At this point, the battle of pulling out the point of Zheyin Mountain has ended.

This is a classic example of a large-scale heavy attack in the mountains and jungles.

In this battle, the 31st Division of our 11th Army paid a heavy sacrifice of 98 killed, successively annihilating the 3rd Independent Battalion of Anming County, the 6th Company of the Anming County Brigade, and the 7th Company of the 877th Regiment of the Annan Army, and severely damaged 2 companies of the 877th Regiment and the 105th Public Security Tun. A total of 550 enemies were killed and 18 were captured.

By seizing the main peaks of Laoshan and Zheyin Mountain and the relevant "riding line points," our army will also grasp the initiative in the border struggle.

But the Annan army, which had experienced the Vietnam War, continued to be influenced by the war, and they would definitely not admit defeat, and the battle for "riding line points" such as Laoshan may have just begun. An even more difficult test is coming!
