To be a man, everything must be based on faithfulness, don't make friends who are not as good as yourself, and don't be afraid to correct mistakes if you have them. An army of a country can take away its commander; But a person with lofty ideals cannot be forced to change his ambition. The person in the shabby silk cotton robe, standing with the person in the fox raccoon dog fur robe, does not think that this is shameful, probably only Zilu! The Book of Songs says: "How good it is not to be jealous or greedy!" After listening to this, Zilu recited this poem repeatedly; Confucius went on to say: It is already very good to do this, but it is still not completely good. Confucius said: When it comes to the cold season, I know that the pines and cypresses are the last to wither.

The wise will not be confused, the virtuous will not be sorrowful, and the brave will not be afraid. When we study together, we may not all learn the Tao. Those who can learn the Tao may not be able to stick to the Tao. Those who can stick to the Tao may not be able to adapt to changes. There is a poem in ancient times that reads: "Tang Di's flowers, fluttering and shaking, how can I miss you?" It's just that the place where the family lives is too far away. "Confucius said: He still doesn't really miss it, and if he really misses it, nothing is far away.

There are a total of 27 chapters in the "Township Party Chapter", which concentrates on Confucius's language, appearance, clothing, food, housing and transportation, and praises Confucius as a righteous man and gentleman who conforms to etiquette in every move. For example, Confucius's attitude when he met the monarch and the doctor; His performance in public affairs and in other countries shows his integrity and benevolence. This article also records some aspects of Confucius's daily life, providing us with very vivid material for a comprehensive understanding of Confucius and the study of Confucius.

Confucius was very gentle and respectful in his native land, as if he could not speak; But he is very good at words in the temple and the court, but he is more cautious when he speaks. When Confucius was in the last court, when the king had not yet come, he seemed gentle and happy when he spoke to the lower doctors; When talking to the doctor, he seems to be honest and fair; When the king came, he looked respectful and restless, but his demeanor was moderate. The king asked Confucius to receive the guests, and Confucius's face immediately became solemn, and he quickened his pace, and bowed to the man standing with him, and when he made a gesture, his clothes swayed back and forth, but they were not in order; When you walk, you are as light as a bird spreading its wings; When the guest is gone, he will surely report back to the monarch that the guest no longer looks back.

When Confucius walked into the gate of the imperial court, he appeared cautious and respectful, as if there was no place for him; When he stands, he does not stand in the middle of the door; When he walks, he does not step on the threshold; Immediately as he passed by the king's seat, his face became solemn, his steps quickened, and he spoke as if he had not had enough energy; As he lifted his clothes and walked up to the hall, his face immediately became respectful and cautious, and he held his breath as if he could not breathe; When he came down the stairs and retreated, his face gradually relaxed, and he looked at ease; After walking the steps, he will take a few quick steps forward, like a bird spreading its wings; When you return to your place, you will appear respectful and slightly uneasy.

When Confucius sent envoys to other vassal states, he held the gui in his hand, and he seemed very respectful and cautious, as if he could not lift it; When it is lifted up, it seems to be in a gesture, and when it is placed underneath, it seems to be handing something to someone; His face was solemn and slightly trembling, and he walked with small steps, as if he were following a straight line; During the gift-giving ceremony, Confucius appeared pleasant; When holding a private meeting with the monarch, it is even more relaxed and pleasant.

When a gentleman wears clothes, he does not use dark blue and red or black and red cloth trimming, and does not use red or purple cloth to make clothes that he usually wears at home. In summer, wear coarse or fine kudzu cloth single clothes, but be sure to put them over the undergarment. a black lambskin robe with a black burqa; a white deerskin robe with a white smock; Yellow fox fur robe with a yellow smock. The leather robe that you usually wear at home will be made longer, and the right sleeve will be shorter. Be sure to have pajamas when you sleep, and you should have a half-length body. The thick fur of the raccoon dog is used as a cushion. At the end of the mourning dress, after taking off the mourning dress, various decorations are put on. If it's not a dress, be sure to cut it. Do not wear black lambskin robes and black hats to mourn. On the first day of each month, you must wear a ceremonial dress to worship the monarch.

The grain should be fine, and the fish and meat should be finely chopped; If the grain is old and tasteless, if the fish and meat are rotten, they will not be eaten. The color of the food has changed, and I don't eat it; The smell has changed, and I don't eat it; Improper cooking, not eating; What is not fresh, do not eat; The meat is not cut squarely and is not eaten; If the condiments are not properly placed, do not eat them. Although there is a lot of meat on the table, the amount of food eaten does not exceed the amount of rice and noodles, only there is no limit to wine, but he is never drunk; They do not eat jerky and wine bought from the market; Ginger must be present at every meal, but don't eat too much either. When a gentleman fasts and bathes, he must have a bathrobe; When fasting, you must change your usual diet, move your residence, and do not have sex with your wife or concubine.

The meat that Confucius received when he participated in the sacrificial ceremony of the monarch would not be kept until the next day; The meat used in the sacrifice will not last more than three days, and after three days, he will not eat it. Confucius did not speak when he ate and did not speak when he slept. Even if he eats coarse rice and vegetable soup, he must take out some of them before eating to sacrifice to his ancestors, and his expression is as serious and respectful as fasting. If the mat is not placed properly, Confucius will not sit on it. After the etiquette of drinking in the countryside was over, Confucius had to wait for the old people to go out first, and then go out himself. When villagers held religious ceremonies to welcome the gods and exorcise demons, Confucius always stood on the east steps in court clothes.

Confucius asked people to greet and give gifts to friends in other vassal states, and each time he bowed to the trustee twice to see him off. Ji Kangzi gave Confucius medicine, Confucius accepted it after thanking him, and after Ji Kangzi left, he said: I don't know about the properties of medicine, so I don't dare to eat it casually. (Regarding the sentence about giving medicine, we can try to understand it in this way, first of all, we should thank our friends for the gift they gave us, whether the gift is useful to us or not, which is a courtesy to the giver; The second most important thing is that the gift of medicine cannot be taken casually; In fact, the meaning here is: don't give things like medicines as gifts casually, so as not to cause trouble to people. ）

Once, when Confucius's horse shed was burned down due to a fire, Confucius retired from the dynasty and came back, and the first thing he asked was whether he had injured anyone, but he did not ask about the condition of the horse. The monarch gave Confucius cooked food, and Confucius must sit right and taste it first; When the king gave Confucius raw meat, he must have cooked it and offered it to his ancestors first; When the king gave Confucius a living animal, he must first raise it; Confucius ate with the monarch, and when the monarch held a pre-dinner ceremony, he must taste it in advance. When Confucius was ill and the king came to visit him, he lay with his head facing east, covered with his court clothes and dragging a large belt. When the king summoned Confucius, he always walked there without waiting for the carriage and horses to be erected. When Confucius arrived at the Taimiao, he had to ask others for advice on everything.
