Fifteen minutes later, tragedy struck, the enemy first carried out artillery preparations on the high ground, and as soon as the artillery fire stopped, the enemy infantry launched a group charge on the scale of a battalion, regardless of casualties. The enemy did not care about life and death, and those in front fell, and the back surged up. The officers and men of the 2nd Company were firmly nailed to their positions, repeatedly fought hand-to-hand with the enemy who rushed into the trenches, and stubbornly repelled enemy attacks again and again.

The battle was extremely miserable, and the casualties of the 2nd Company increased rapidly.

Half an hour after the battle, the enemy attacked another round of deep heavy artillery fire, all of which hit the core position of the 2nd Company under the cover of heavy fog, and the company suffered heavy casualties. Under the cover of artillery fire, the enemy attacking forces once again rushed to their positions.

The command post of the 2nd Company was also directly hit by recoilless guns and bazookas, the company commander and instructor were killed at the same time, the walkie-talkie crew was seriously injured, the walkie-talkie was blown up, and the communication between the 145th and 146th positions and the battalion headquarters and the regimental headquarters was interrupted.

The enemy quickly rushed to the position, and the remaining fighters of the 2nd Company were forced to retreat to the top of Heights 146, ready to hold on. After breaking through the defensive position of the 2nd Company, the enemy captured the top of Heights 145 along the valley on the west side of Heights 146. At this time, the sky was not clear, the fog locked the mountain, and the battle on the high ground on the top of the mountain continued. The regimental headquarters and the 1st Battalion of the 119th Regiment did not know that the position of the 2nd Company of Ludao had been lost, and our army and the division's artillery group were unwilling to shell the position. The 1st Battalion first sent 5 line surveyors up, but they were sniped by the enemy and killed one after another.

After dawn, Chen Keyuan, the head of the regiment's reconnaissance section and the commander of the 1st company and 2nd platoon, was ordered by the regimental headquarters to lead two squads to attack the No. 145 high ground to conduct battlefield reconnaissance.

At this time, the fog is thicker, and there are shadows on the mountain, and people cannot be seen clearly on the opposite side. There were still sporadic gunshots of fighting on the top of the mountain, but as soon as they reached the front of the position, they were attacked by a round of fire from the enemy occupying the surface position, and the platoon commander Chen Keyuan died heroically, and the 2nd platoon was forced to retreat.

It was only at this time that the 119th Regiment accurately judged that the enemy had occupied Heights 145. At 5:30 a.m., a howitzer battalion of our artillery group fired rapidly, and the artillery fire completely covered the surface positions of the 145 heights. Most of the enemy, who had just occupied the surface positions on Heights 145, were killed in the artillery fire.

As soon as the artillery fire was extended, the reconnaissance detachment of the 40th Division, which had come to Heights 146 to carry out the task of capturing prisoners, took the initiative to cooperate with the 2nd Platoon to carry out a counterattack while the enemy was in chaos, and recaptured the hill in only half an hour. At 8 o'clock in the morning, the deputy commander of the 1st Battalion led the 3rd Company, with the support of our artillery fire and the fire of Heights 146, fought fiercely for two hours, recaptured all the lost positions, and Heights 145 was recaptured again.

The enemy retreated to the line of heights 411 and 251. At 6 o'clock, after adjusting the enemy's deployment, he once again launched a frantic attack with two battalions of troops, and the charging infantry was five or six hundred men. The deputy commander of our 1st Battalion quickly called for artillery fire to cover the front of the position, and the rocket artillery battalion of our division's artillery group fired a salvo, completely covering the starting point of the enemy's charge. The two howitzer battalions extended their fire, turning the enemy's charge into a sea of fire. Due to the heavy fog, the 119th Regiment changed its fighting method, and the division's artillery group fought until 3 o'clock in the afternoon, using artillery fire to form a dense fire barrier in the dense fog, so that the enemy could not approach the front of our position, and finally had no choice but to retreat, and the 145 Heights were firmly in the hands of our army.

At 17:50, the enemy carried out non-stop artillery bombardment on the area of Ournara and the eastern mountain of the Bali River. At 19:30, one company of the enemy's 266th Regiment launched a tentative attack on the No. 34 Heights of Dongshan Auxiliary of the Bali River, and another company launched a tentative attack on the No. 34 and No. 35 Heights at the same time, but they were all quickly repulsed by the 5th Company of our 122nd Regiment.

While attacking heights 34 and 35, the enemy carried out artillery preparations for positions No. 150 and 151 in the direction of Inara to cover the tactical deployment of a reinforced company and special detachment of the 14th Regiment. In the direction of Dongshan of the Bali River, the enemy failed three attacks and had to retreat for reinforcements. At 20:40, about a company of the 14th Regiment of the enemy moved from Qingshui to the direction of Heights 146, but was blocked and covered by the fire of the artillery group of our 119th Regiment. After a round of firepower, most of the enemy's company was wiped out.

From 21 o'clock, at intervals of half an hour, the enemy continued to attack the positions of the 2nd and 3rd companies in the direction of our No. 146 heights with the strength of two companies, but each time they failed to approach the position, they were covered by the artillery fire of our artillery group, and they were crushed, with many casualties and corpses all over the field. At 21:35, the enemy suffered heavy casualties, and seeing that the attack was hopeless, he took advantage of the darkness to withdraw to the area south of the Qingshui River.

Starting from the June 11 sneak attack, the Annam army launched a tentative offensive on a regimental scale, that is, the first phase of the "MB-84" campaign plan, but all of them were thwarted by our army.
