122 Chaos (2)

The Polish nation is a nation with a long history, and Poland as a country is also a country with a long history. In the Middle Ages, Poland made a fortune from the grain trade, and after the union with Lithuania, the king of Lithuania became the king of the United Kingdom of Poland and Lithuania, and also defeated the Teutonic Knights, and entered Moscow several times to establish the Tsar. Even more gloriously, Poland routed the Ottoman Turks under the city of Vienna and relieved Europe from the crisis.

The partition of Poland by Tsarist Russia, Austria, and Prussia was not so much a partition as Poland itself. The democracy system in Poland at that time stipulated absolute democracy in the parliament, and as long as any vote was not passed, the parliament could not pass a resolution. Even the Polish king could be bought and sold. It is not normal for such a country to be finished. Even if Poland is a strange flower, Tsarist Russia, Austria, and Prussia are not wonderful, at least not very strange.

To be precise, the Kingdom of Poland did not fall. After the division of the pro-Austrian and Prussian lands, the King of Poland became part of Tsarist Russia, and the Tsar himself became King of Poland.

After World War I, Tsarist Russia came to an end, and Poland was freed from Tsarist Russia's control. Soon after the restoration of the country, Poland invaded Kiev, and even when the Soviet army launched a powerful counterattack, Poland was still able to defeat the Soviet Red Army under the city of Warsaw, and once again "save" Europe from the precarious.

Regardless of what other countries think of Poland, Poland itself is extremely satisfied with its historical contributions.

Poland joined the British alliance with China, and it was not for the purpose of attacking China, and the Polish aristocracy was vulgar one by one in history, and they were proud of their illiteracy. This "rough" character is also inherited, and it inherits the cunning that is born in parallel with the rough character. Poland doesn't care where China is. All they wanted was an alliance with Britain, so that they could logically carry out the war of arms expansion. The Poles are a little arrogant and strange, but it doesn't mean that they are fools.

If Poland itself suddenly expands its armaments for war, this is only an excuse for Germany. After forming an alliance with Great Britain, Poland was able to pull the tiger skin as a banner. Whether it was to build up arms or threaten Germany, Poland could use Britain to frighten Germany.

On March 21, 1939, Germany issued an ultimatum to Poland, demanding that Danzig (Gdansk) be ceded and that it should have the right to build roads and railways in the "Polish Corridor", but Poland refused. The Polish side frightened the mustache by joining the military alliance with the British, demanding that the mustache give up his wishful thinking.

If the Poles had faced not mustaches but other Germans, I am afraid that this approach would have had some effect. But Mustache was not a believer, and after the death of Pilsudski, the dictator of Poland, Mustache was sure that Poland had no leaders to fear. Because there was another wave of "democratization" in Poland after Pilsudski's death, the various factions in the country began to frantically fight among themselves. If it weren't for the notorious "veto" of parliament in Poland's history, Poland might have been able to go back in time.

In short, from mid-February 1939, Poland began to carry out a general mobilization on the grounds of war against China, and vigorously expanded its armaments. Originally, Poland had 39 infantry divisions, 11 cavalry brigades, 3 mountain infantry brigades, 2 armored motorized brigades, and nearly 80 civil defense battalions. There are 220 light tanks, 650 ultralight tanks, 4,300 artillery pieces and mortars, and 407 aircraft. The Polish Navy has 16 combat ships and auxiliary vessels with a total strength of about 1 million men.

By June 1939, Poland had expanded its forces to 60 infantry divisions, and with the addition of a fleet of vintage aircraft imported from the British, the total number of aircraft had reached 800. The total number of troops has increased to 1.6 million.

As a European country, even if the population is not as large as Japan, Poland has a not bad military force and mobilization capacity. In the event of a Polish-Japanese war, Poland would definitely be inferior in terms of navy, but in terms of land forces, especially in terms of armored forces, Poland was much stronger than Japan.

In the face of such a military force, which is definitely not weak, the mustache originally had no plan to annex Poland in the short term, and what the mustache wanted to recover was Danzig and other places. As the situation changed, the mustache finally decided to settle Poland militarily.

Within two hours, a "three-three fleet" was wiped out, and within a week, it retreated hundreds of kilometers and lost Singapore. The performance of Britain in the Asian theater convinced the mustache that the British could not have a good performance in the Western Pacific. If China had been able to drive the British out of Asia, or at least the Middle East, Germany would have had every confidence in solving France on its own.

That being the case, it is no longer a problem to attack Poland sooner or later. All focus is on the extent to which China will be able to strike at British power. Britain would have to devote a large number of navies to Asia to compete with China, and the mustache was happy to see the Chinese continue to exert their strength.

Both the German and Polish armies deployed troops along the border, and after the Polish expansion, many new recruits were added to the front line. So the most common thing happened on June 15, 1939. In a section of the standoff on the Western Front, Polish artillerymen mistakenly fired shells at Germany during a live-fire exercise. It's really not a gunner's problem, God knows how a shipment of real shells got into the shell box of the training shells. Since it was a training bullet drill, the shooting elements were accurately measured, and the shells whistled out of the muzzle and accurately hit the camp of an armored unit on the German border.

During this period of high tension, the Germans shouted that they would attack Poland, recapture the Danzig Corridor, and liberate the Germans in Poland. Poland did not hesitate to shout for the defeat of the German fascists. After shouting for so long, suddenly a shell came from the direction of Poland, and the German armored forces were not lightly frightened. The armed forces of both sides thought that the other side had attacked, so all the mobile ground forces rushed towards the border line as fast as they could.

The German side naturally rushed over with armored units, and the Polish side was the Polish cavalry unit, which claimed to have inherited the "hussars". The troops on both sides saw the other side rushing towards it with great momentum, plus the loud noise caused by that shell. Both sides thought the other was going to war.

The Germans received a shot and the armored forces suffered casualties. Naturally, they have a sense of righteousness, and just by looking at their appearances, you can see that the Germans are serious.

The Polish side knew that its industrial capacity was inferior to that of Germany, and it was in a weak mentality. That is, more sensitive, more afraid. There were almost a thousand tanks in the Polish troops, and they naturally knew how powerful the tanks were. Seeing the murderous approach of a German armored unit, as if they wanted to play for real, the mentality of the Poles was unbalanced first. The tanks of the year were all skinned tanks, and the brave Polish cavalry also visited their own tanks, and they simply launched an attack on the German armored forces.

The German-Polish War broke out at the moment when the Polish cavalry units raised their sabers and charged at the German tanks.

Striking first is one of the basic principles of military affairs. By the time the Polish cavalry launched a ferocious charge against the German tank units, Poland had in a sense "changed" its own history.

Historically, the Polish Campaign was fought after careful planning and months of troop mobilization by the Germans, with the Germans striking first. Now the Poles are the first to strike at the Germans, and there has been a complete reversal of the strategy. The brave Polish cavalry, who suffered heavy casualties in the assault, could carry grenades, and the Polish cavalry with spears rushed close to the German tanks and attacked the German tank tracks with grenades and spears.

In this era, no country, except the People's Party, has begun to produce tanks of more than 15 tons. Germany's current tanks are still dominated by the Mark I tank. Type II tanks were both very few in number.

German Mark 1 tank: armament 2 7.92 mm machine guns, crew 2 people, length 4.45 meters, width 2.1 meters, height 1.73 meters, armor thickness 5 ~ 35 mm, engine power 100 horsepower gasoline engine, maximum range of 155 km, maximum speed 40 km / h, total combat weight of 5.5 ~ 6 tons. Later, some of these tanks were equipped with 20-caliber guns.

A tank of this weight surrounded by a few tall cavalrymen did not show any advantage at all. Although the German tank units also fought bravely, it was a pity that there were only a dozen of them. Hundreds or thousands of Polish cavalry on the opposite side slaughtered, and they couldn't even talk about ants biting elephants to death.

The Polish cavalry fought quite well and quickly gained the upper hand in the face of the German infantry. After the horses galloped with their machine guns and rushed to the high ground, the cavalry stopped their horses and began firing heavy machine guns.

When facing the German tanks, the Polish cavalry first attacked the German tanks with spears and sabers, and after finding that they could not pierce the shell of the German tank, some thaumaturgical cavalrymen jumped directly from their horses to the tank, and they used their sabers to pry the cover of the German tank. Finding that they couldn't pry it open, they unleashed their grenades and tried to fit into any gaps they could. Some particularly brave Polish cavalrymen even climbed the muzzles of German tanks and shoved their sabers into the muzzles of 20 guns. There were even people who shot into the muzzles of German tanks with pistols.

The German tanks were blinded, and their machine gunners simply could not shoot from the top. Especially the tanks that were climbed by the Polish cavalry, listening to the fierce hits coming from everywhere, the tank drivers panicked. These tankers had no choice but to retreat quickly.

In the process, the tracks of three tanks were inserted by the Poles with hard spears, or they were attacked with grenades, and the tracks of the tanks were damaged. After a fierce battle, the Poles, despite paying heavy casualties, managed to penetrate nearly ten kilometers into German territory. The German infantry suffered hundreds of casualties, and the Poles also captured three German tanks and destroyed two. Both of these are modifications with artillery. Because they didn't pay attention to the fact that the Poles stuffed something into the muzzle of the tank, and blew it up when they fired indiscriminately.

The brave Polish army paid the price of nearly 800 casualties.

During World War II, a battle of this magnitude was enough to spark a war. The two sides threaten each other, which is itself a quasi-state of war. It doesn't matter who fired the first shot. As long as it is not the pattern of the historical German war against Poland, this kind of war can be regarded as a common posture in Europe.

The mustache was soon debriefed. For the "defeat" of the German army, the mustache really didn't care much. He felt some regret in his heart, and if he could wait any longer, the British would probably have suffered a greater blow. This is where it is very advantageous to get your hands dirty. At the same time, the mustache also expressed great satisfaction with the impulsiveness of the Poles. It was very difficult to start a war, and the Poles entered the territory of Germany, completely clearing all obstacles for the mustache to declare war on Poland.

On the night of June 15, Germany formally declared war on Poland, citing the Polish invasion of Germany.

On June 16, Winston Churchill, the British Admiral in India, got the news. As far as Churchill received, the British immediately intervened, and Britain sent a representative to Berlin to demand an immediate armistice from Germany. Britain told Germany that it was willing to look into the matter. In fact, the British personnel in Poland had roughly figured out what was going on. The internal investigation of the Polish army soon became clear about the accidental firing of artillery shells by soldiers on their own side.

However, there was no way to explain this to Germany, the Germans had been planning an attack on Poland for a long time, and according to the present international practice, Poland would only give Germany a formal reason to seize the Danzig Corridor if it were to make an "realistic" explanation. Poland is resolutely unlikely to accept such an outcome. Poland simply insisted that Germany was the first to attack Poland, and the Polish army fought back. The Polish side demanded that Britain travel to the obligations of the Central Powers and declare war on Germany together.

There are different opinions as to how that shell got into the training shell. Those who leaned to the side of Poland either did not say a word about this, or simply put forward espionage conspiracy theories. It is believed that German spies mixed the shells with training shells, and then sent them to the newly recruited artillerymen.

Opponents, of course, consider this nonsense, and if that were the case, Germany should have a completely different response, and there is no need for just one, but many. Moreover, the Polish side was the attacker, and if Poland had not responded so drastically, the war, although inevitable, would have been able to drag on for a while.

But some of these Polish soldiers who participated in the war were killed in battle, and some were tortured to death in prisoner of war camps. Some of them went to England and were killed in a series of battles that followed the British. Some of the logisticians were even captured by the Soviets and eventually disappeared. The truth of the matter has become a great mystery.

It was only Germany that declared war, Poland resolutely refused to admit any mistake on its part, and the war that was destined to break out broke out. Both Germany and Poland redeployed troops, and the battle expanded rapidly. Germany surrounded Poland from three sides, and Poland chose East Prussia as its main direction of attack.

In 1226, a Polish Grand Duke invited the Teutonic Knights to help them defend themselves against the Pagans of the Baltic and Prussians. The Teutonic Knights began to establish a series of strongholds in Poland, eventually forming the Teutonic Knights' state.

In 1410, the Battle of Grunwald was fought between the Polish-Lithuanian United Kingdom and the Teutonic Knights, which ultimately led to the victory of the Polish-Lithuanian Kingdom over the Teutonic Knights, ultimately deciding the decline of the Teutonic Knights. Even so, East Prussia, the core of the Teutonic Knights' state, remained firmly in Prussian hands.

If East Prussia can be captured, it will not only eliminate the threat of enemies on three sides, but also deal a heavy blow to the confidence of the Germans, and at the same time complete the great cause of Poland to recover the land lost nearly a thousand years ago.

It's just that things are not as simple as thought, and the tank units displayed by Germany on the German-Polish border are mainly tanks, which are not so much tanks as armored combat vehicles. The Polish attack on Germany was quickly halted by the Luftwaffe and Army. By 19 June, Germany had begun to fight back. There is still a tank in the counterattack, but the tank is no longer the main force of the battle. Appearing in front of the Poles were Type III tanks.

This is a technology that China and Germany are working on together. China, Germany, and the Soviet Union all imported a lot of technology from the United States. The technical exchange between China and the Soviet Union was quite close, and the suspension system introduced by the Soviet Union was also supplied to China. Chen Ke didn't have much research on tanks, and all he could remember were nouns.

Chinese tanks really want to use hydraulic suspension and transmission technology, but this thing is too technically demanding, and in the end China still chose a suspension technology that is more suitable for this stage.

It's just that Chen Ke is a diesel engine factory and a railway kid after all, and he understands these two aspects of technology a little interestingly. In particular, the direct-injection diesel engine, together with the turbocharging device developed later, the engine power of the Chinese tank was higher than that of the German engine. Moreover, Chen Ke himself is also a "pseudo-military fan", and he does not appreciate the elaborate tank style of Germany. The main battle tank developed by China is a tank similar in appearance to the Type 59.

Chen Ke also put forward the advanced concept of "modular" design. The basis of this concept must be that many tanks have been built, countless money has been spent, and the tank structure can be fully understood before various modules can be produced. China has only been studying tanks for 20 years, and despite the power of Chen Ke's "blind command" that no one dares to resist, the Chinese tank has taken a "more tortuous" path.

In order to minimize costs, China and Germany fully cooperated with the Soviet Union, and the two sides cooperated on a number of technical parameters. This resulted in a faster finalization of German tanks. Tank guns were also quickly upgraded to 47 and 50 calibers.

Of course, the Germans did not know that by 1939, the main battle "medium" tank, which China was still painstakingly finalized, had already weighed more than 30 tons, and the caliber of the artillery had reached the terrifying 88-caliber gun. The development of 105 caliber tank guns is also intensifying. At this time, there was no tank in the world that could compare with a "medium" tank like China in terms of weight and firepower.

Even so, the German Type III tank weighed more than 12 tons, and neither firepower nor mobility could be compared with the Type 1 tank. Even in the face of a preemptive attack by Poland, the German army's new tanks entered the battlefield and still shocked the Polish army.

By 21 June, the Germans had not only stopped the Polish offensive in the direction of East Prussia, but had begun to attack Poland on all other fronts.
