Is there really a difference?
What is the difference between standing on the water with a reed and standing on the water with a lotus leaf? What difference does it make if you have an oar or not? Besides, Bodhidharma's crossing of the river with a reed is just a legend, and how many people have witnessed it?

I'm all flat. or as a bridge. or negative sandy soil. Such is diligence. Sutra Immeasurable Buddha appeared in the world. Or there are sentient beings in the place. Ask for people. I'll do it first. To its end. Just put it away. Don't take it straight. The present tense of the Buddha Vaishafu. There was a famine. I'm a loser. No matter how far or near it is. Only one penny. Or there are carts and cattle are on. Mud drowning. I have divine powers. for its push wheel. Pull out its distress. The king of the kingdom extended the Buddha and fasted. I waited for the Buddha at that time. Visharulai. Mo Ding is me. Be in peace. Then everything in the world is equal...... I contemplate the two dusts of the body with the truth. and so on. This is like a hide. Vanity is dusty. Dust sells wisdom round. Becoming the supreme way. Si is the first. ”
This passage comes from the fifth volume of the "Sutra of Stunned Strictness", if you come to ask all the great bodhisattvas and arhats at a ** meeting, you have attained the fruition of non-learning in the Dharma, but you initially set out to practice, starting from that one method and that one method.
The Bodhisattva stood up and said this paragraph, Puguang Nyorai appeared in the world, I was still a bhikshu, in some treacherous places, laying roads, building bridges, never tired of toil. When the Buddha was in the world, I took the initiative to carry things for sentient beings when they passed through the steep places, and I didn't want any other reward. When the Buddha was in the world, there was a lot of hunger in the land, so I went to carry it, no matter how far away, and I only took one penny. The state held a banquet to invite the Buddha to speak, and I leveled the road to receive the Buddha's visit. Then the arhat fruit is achieved, which can be called the supreme method.
This passage is relatively easy to understand, Zheng Lang will not explain, and he does not need to explain, even if some people among the people do not understand, in the strange scene tonight, they will ask others and get answers from others.
Don't you talk about purifying sentient beings, let's take a look at how the great bodhisattva is helping others, without asking for anything in return, and even if he does, he only asks for a meager return.
This is the real great monk, the monk, the Buddhist.
Then he recited: "Then Avalokiteshvara, that is, from the seat...... And for the sake of saying. Make it happen. It is the name of the thirty-two should be beautiful. into the national body. All of them smell and smell the samadhi, and there is no wonderful power to cultivate. Freedom to achieve ...... The world-honored Buddha is coming. Sigh, I'm so good at the Dharma. in the General Assembly. Honour me as Avalokiteshvara. Let me observe and listen to the ten directions. Therefore, Guanyin is famous all over the ten directions. ”
This passage is very long, but who among the Chinese people is not familiar with Guanyin Bodhisattva? It is about how Guanyin Bodhisattva attained the right result. When I went through countless eons, I met a Buddha of Avalokiteshvara, who taught me how to be righteous and upright, and attain two supreme uses: upwards should be in line with the fundamental enlightenment and Buddha compassion of all the Buddhas in the ten worlds, and downwards should be in harmony with the compassion of all beings in the six realms of reincarnation in the ten worlds to the Buddhas. But he can't get the positive result yet, because he has made offerings to Guanyin Buddha and Buddha Nyolai, obtained Vajra Samadhi and Buddha-like compassion, and has 32 kinds of manifested identities (half less than Sun Wukong), so he uses this ability to do things.
When a bodhisattva in meditation enters the realm of enlightenment, I manifest the body of a Buddha for them [***] and liberate them. When a practitioner who has not attained the bodhisattva status enters the realm of silence and is about to emerge, I appear in front of them as a solitary enlightened person and liberate them. For those who have not attained the bodhisattva status, who have broken off the twelve causes and bounds of the earth, and who have realized their own surname, I have liberated them by revealing the identity of the karma in front of them. Wait a minute. If sentient beings want to practice the clarity of mind without being mixed with all kinds of ** in the world, I will show the identity of a Brahman. If sentient beings want to become masters in the heavens and rule over the gods, I will manifest myself as the emperor and make them accomplish something. Wait a minute. If there is a man who is willing to become a monk, I will become a bhikshu. Wait a minute. If there are sentient beings who are willing to live the life of ordinary people, I will appear in front of them and speak for them. Although it is half the change less than that of Sun Wukong, these thirty-six changes are far better than Sun Wukong's seventy-two changes.
In fact, before this, there have been Su Bodhi, Maitreya Bodhisattva, Moonlight Boy, Fuxian Bodhisattva and other Bodhisattvas, Arhats spoke, Guanyin Bodhisattva is the last to speak, but also the longest Bodhisattva, so it is ranked in the sixth volume of the Lengyan Sutra.
In short, Guanyin Bodhisattva has helped all kinds of sentient beings free of charge, so those Buddhas rejoiced that I had successfully obtained the Yuantong Method, and gave me the name of Guanyin in the ** meeting. Because I watched and listened to the ten directions, the name of Guanyin spread throughout the ten directions.
This passage is also an important difference between Mahayana and Hinayana Bodhisattva thought, that is, to make a great vow to save all sentient beings from the sea of suffering, which is gratuitous, even unscrupulous, even if it is like Zheng Lang's practice, it can also be called Mahayana, so it can also be practiced at home, not necessarily like Hinayana disciples must become monks and practice themselves.
It is precisely this kind of Mahayana Buddhism that prevails in China.
What is Guanyin Bodhisattva, purifying all sentient beings!
How to go to Pudu, help sentient beings get out of the sea of suffering, and influence sentient beings to understand the Dharma. Instead of exploiting sentient beings and making sentient beings suffer even more.
Therefore, in China, Guanyin Bodhisattva's belief among the people is second only to that of the Buddha.
Although this paragraph is long, the righteousness is also very easy to understand, listening to Zheng Lang reciting, most of the people knelt down, not to Zheng Lang, but to the Guanyin Bodhisattva in the dark.
There are several of the heaviest scriptures in Buddhism, one is the Diamond Sutra, which talks about emptiness, and the other Heart Sutra also talks about emptiness, but the Diamond Sutra is the first of all scriptures. Vimala Sutra, stressing the purity of the heart, entering the WTO is to be born, and being born is to enter the WTO, this kind of thinking has the greatest influence on Chinese Buddhism, and the Zen theory of Zen Buddhism is almost developed on the theory of Vimala Sutra. The flail sutra integrates emptiness, from the two non-self to emptiness, from the eight senses, and the three self-surnames, which not only becomes the basis of the Faxiangzong, but also forms an influential flail Zen in Zen Buddhism. The other is the Lengyan Sutra, although the Sutra has always had a dispute over authenticity, but the content is grand and rich, the thought is rigorous, almost all the Mahayana theories are included in it, as long as it is a Chinese Buddhist disciple, anyone has to read this Sutra, in a sense, it is second only to the Diamond Sutra in the status of Chinese Buddhist scriptures.
Moreover, the dispute between authenticity and falsity was also a later matter, and the disciples of Buddhism in the Song Dynasty undoubtedly regarded it as a real treasure one by one.
There is another reason, maybe it is very long, half longer than the Diamond Sutra, so it is not easy to memorize.
After a long period of reciting, Zheng Lang said loudly: "Good knowledge, Buddhism is compassionate, purifying all sentient beings, so the people are eager to eat and drink hungry for their own clothing, burning incense and offering to the Buddha, in order to seek the Buddha and Bodhisattva to exceed, but everywhere I went, I saw the disciples of Buddhism killing people, lending usury, clinging to the powerful, doing evil in the township, forging bonds, encroaching on people's land, occupying lakes and streams, flooding in the autumn, flooding people's fields, drowning of people, blackmailing people and even the government, lawlessness, killing people for money, silver messing up good women, not mentioning penance, helping the people, and purifying sentient beings, Clothes do not weave food and do not cultivate, harshly exploit the people, fool the poor people's finances, occupy or forcibly buy fertile land, mountains, forests and lakes, take away the people's livelihood, annex Guangtian, so that the country has no land to cloth, and the people have no land to cultivate, these are not the children of the Buddha, but the demons. ”
He said in a louder voice: "Everyone, listen well, I swear here today that Chongyang will distinguish the true disciples of Buddhism and eradicate the evil spirits, and from today onwards, all the people in Hangzhou who owe usury to any monastery will be invalidated without compensation." If you have an IOU in the monastery, you will appeal to the state capital, and I will lead someone to recover the IOU. For Buddhist disciples who use any means to cheat money, sex, land, houses, mountains and forests, come to the state government, the official will recover it for you and correct the name of the Buddha. If the Buddha agrees, he will use lotus leaves as a boat today and let the official cross this lake, so as to show the merits of Guanyin in the world, so that all sentient beings can hear the true voice of the Buddha and Bodhisattva. ”
As soon as the words fell, some of the monks who heard Zheng Lang speak frowned together.
It's disgusting.
It's obvious that you are pretending to be a ghost, and you have been standing on the lotus leaf and shouting for so long, how can you not cross the West Lake?
But what makes them even more disgusting is below.
Zheng Lang began to paddle again, and continued to speak aloud while paddling: "Contemplating the Bodhisattva of Freedom, when you walk deep in Prajnaparamita. See that the five aggregates are empty, and overcome all suffering. Guanyin Bodhisattva to compassion to save sentient beings as the original wish, hearing the sound of sentient beings of sorrow and suffering immediately to give joy to the suffering, among the Bodhisattvas, Guanyin Bodhisattva and sentient beings are the most fateful, with the appearance of the kind, looking for the voice to save people, is the Bodhisattva's sad wish to live through the tribulation. Therefore, the holy name of Guanyin is particularly common, and it is the bodhisattva's compassion to save suffering and penetrate into the hearts of the people. Because the Bodhisattva has great wisdom, everything is unhindered, so he is also at ease. There is great compassion, and he can appear with his kind and find a voice to save sentient beings, so it is also called Guanyin. Prajna is wisdom, paramita is the other side. Avalokiteshvara is all afflictions and calamities. ”
This is the first sentence of the Heart Sutra, and the great righteousness is that Guanyin Bodhisattva practices the profound and wonderful Prajna, and when the practice is very deep, he contemplates and sees that the five aggregates are all causes and conditions, and there is no self-surname, and when the body is empty, there is no affliction except for the root cause of suffering, so that he can get rid of all the afflictions and sufferings of birth and death.
Zheng Lang explained the meaning of some of the words, which was also correct, but after explaining a small half, and throwing away a large half, the whole meaning became completely different. The reason why Guanyin Bodhisattva has great wisdom is to save suffering.
However, the central sutra of the Buddhist scriptures is the shortest and the most concise, and many people have heard the Heart Sutra and heard the chanting of the great monks, but not many people understand its meaning.
However, the location chosen by Zheng Lang to cross the lake is very ingenious, only a hundred steps away from the new embankment, and many people heard the name of Guanyin Bodhisattva, so they stood up and followed Zheng Lang's lotus boat along the causeway, listening while walking.
Guanyin Bodhisattva is good, not bad.
This abandonment separates Buddhism from these Buddhist disciples.
Continue to misinterpret.
Listening to the teacher's distorted interpretation of a good heart sutra like this, Fan Chunyou finally couldn't help but lie on Wang Anshi's back, wanting to laugh, but not daring to laugh out loud. Fu Bi also couldn't bear it, and kept covering his mouth with his sleeve.

He wanted to pounce and pull Zheng Lang's clothes, but could he pounce?
Falling into the lake all at once, and not being able to swim, shouting in the lake for help, help me. Zheng Lang had to stop the misinterpretation and said, "Save him." ”
A few people who could swim went down to save people, but Zheng Lang was taken aback, this lotus leaf boat was not easy to ride, and the waves brought by the big monk falling into the water just now almost overturned him. Once the boat capsizes and the original form is revealed, tonight's drama will have the opposite effect. I couldn't help but paddle with a small oar, a little further away from the causeway.
He also said: "Great monk, you are not a real disciple of Buddhism, just a lazy man who is greedy and lazy, falls into Buddhism, does not weave or cultivate, and relies on the incense of ignorant people to give alms to eat for nothing, eat for nothing, and live for nothing, this lake and lake will not save you!" ”
After hearing this, the great monk had not finished spitting out a mouthful of water, and he almost fainted.
Zheng Lang didn't stop and said, "Fellow villagers, will you still support this group of shoddy Buddhist disciples in the future?" Who knows that the Chinese food on the plate, every grain of your grain comes from your blood and sweat, and every penny of your money comes from your hard work, but it is used to support this group of lazy people who corrupt Buddhism, I don't know if the Buddha is angry with you for aiding and abusing, and after you die, you will be sent to hell, never reborn, or let you be exceeded? ”
The Buddha discernment has not begun, the declaration of war has begun!
The great monk finally relieved himself, and someone in the crowd already recognized him and exclaimed, "Master Fayuan." ”
Zheng Lang learned the origin of this great monk in his mind, he is the abbot of Huoshan Shouning Temple in the north of Zhaoqing Temple in Baobao Mountain, because it is next to Qian's Luocheng, although it is not as famous as Zhaoqing Temple, but the incense is quite prosperous, of course, it also occupies the field, otherwise it will not be so anxious, not only occupy the field, but even the West Lake also makes this temple circle a large piece of water for the surrounding field.
Since he was recognized, Fa Yuan shouted unconvinced: "The twelfth product of the Lotus Sutra, Manjushri Bodhisattva, said that the dragon girl has a wisdom root at the age of eight, and the Wisdom Bodhisattva thinks that the woman has five leaks, and he does not believe it. Manjushri called the dragon girl, saw the treasure of the Buddha, Shakyamuni Buddha, the dragon girl offered her life-root dragon ball, offering these two Buddhas, Shakyamuni immediately accepted, the dragon girl also became a Buddha at the age of eight. ”
This story is from the Lotus Sutra Devadattapin, but Fa Yuan does not have Zheng Lang's perverted memory ability, so he can't interpret the original text, and only tells the approximate story. The story of the dragon girl becoming a Buddha at the age of eight is also told in the Huayan Sutra, and it is possible that the Dharma fate cannot be remembered, so only the Lotus Sutra is mentioned.
Even the life can be offered to the Buddha, and a little possessions.
Zheng Lang laughed on the lotus leaf, "Do you know what charity is? The dragon maiden is not giving alms, she has already realized the Yuantong, which is abandonment, renunciation, breaking, and emptiness. After giving up, he became a Buddha. How many people have reached this realm? ”
Take the initiative to defend Buddhism, in fact, this is the essence of some Buddhist disciples, offer me, if you don't eat or drink, then you will starve to death and freeze to death, and you will also support us, and you will become a Buddha after death. God knows!
Zheng Lang touched his thigh, which was not so thick, so he took the initiative to avoid it, and said: "You tell the story, I also tell the story, after Sakyamuni sat down, the younger brother Ananda Venerable is still alive, the Buddha does not require a female surname to become a monk, but Ananda is the eldest aunt, and he insists on coming down, and the Buddha scolds him, you do a good thing, my Buddhism will die five hundred years early." Why, men and women became monks together, and human beings soon became extinct, and who would make offerings to the Buddha? ”
"Zheng Xingzhi, you are talking nonsense again," the great monk was about to go crazy and said: "The Tianzhu doctrine believes that women are filthy, the Buddha's aunt is old and a monk, and she is a nobleman, and many bhikshunis are mostly young people, so I am afraid that they will be arrogant to bhikshus. Many bhikshus are younger and more advanced than the Buddha's aunt, and they have to be courteous. That's why the Buddha said, "My Fa-rectification will be reduced by 500 years." After the Buddha's positive fruit has been achieved, the aftermath has not ended, and the Buddha's great disciple Kasa Ye rebuke Ananda with ten things, the first thing is to rebuke Ananda for not repeatedly asking the Buddha to allow women to become monks. Therefore, the requirements for women to become monks are stricter. ”
"Fayuan, you lazy man, are women filthy, then your mother is also filthy, are these good women also filthy?"
Fa Yuan's body shook again, and he almost collapsed.
Zheng Lang said again: "If I were your mother, if I heard you say this, I would immediately throw you to the West Lake and drown you!" Not only is he lazy, but he is also disobedient and unfilial, what are you raising this son for! ”
