Chapter 347: Prologue to World War II

The fourteenth year of ZTE, August 20.

Japan consists of the First Fleet and the Second Fleet, plus two aircraft carriers of the Tenth Air Force directly under the Japanese Admiralty, the Mizuho and the Chitose, to form a combined fleet.

The Combined Fleet sailed out of Yokosuka and, with the permission of China, sailed to the South China Sea. However, the routes are far away from the Chinese mainland, and in the sky, there are Chinese fighters following at all times to prevent little Japan from playing yin.

In the middle of the combined fleet, there was also a large number of troop carriers, the goal was clear, the Anglo-French sphere of influence in Southeast Asia.

Like the German fleet, Japan's actions did not have the slightest hidden meaning. And also gave a very reasonable excuse, at the invitation of Italy, to send a fleet to the Mediterranean Sea for military visits between allies.

Of course, about the presence of troop carriers in the fleet, Japan did not say it, apparently not wanting others to know.

After the end of the Olympic Games, China fell into a state of tranquility, and China has remained silent and did not express any opinion on the unpredictable world pattern. It's as if everything that happens in the world has nothing to do with China.

There is also the United States in a relatively calm country, first of all, it was just an unexpected German fleet, and then the Americans also sat on the Diaoyu Tai, and like China, kept quiet and did not make any remarks.

The silence of the world's two largest industrial countries has made the whole situation even more confusing.

China and the United States can be calm, because even if the flames of war are ignited, they will not be burned on them. But Britain and France can't do it, they are like puppies in the ring at this time, let the Axis countries pull them away. Very passive.

The combined Anglo-French fleet, which had planned to withdraw from the Mediterranean, was also divided at the moment.

France did not agree to withdraw the fleet from the Mediterranean, while Britain insisted on going back, and neither country made concessions to each other.

Britain wants to ensure the security of the homeland, and France does not want to ensure the security of the homeland. You must know that France also has a long border in the Mediterranean, and if the fleet is gone, and Germany and Italy have such a strong naval force in the Mediterranean, it will not even be enough to plug the gap between the teeth with the weak strength of the French Mediterranean fleet.

In the end, Britain did not achieve its expected goal and made concessions, the French fleet remained in the Mediterranean, and Britain also left half of its forces to cooperate with the French navy to contain the German and Italian navies. The remaining fleet returned to the British mainland to ensure the safety of the homeland and the shipping lanes.

The pace of time is as fast as ever, August 25th.

Another five days have passed, and the whole world is still like a bird. Originally, there was another thing worth noting, that is, the speed of the Japanese Combined Fleet was too slow, and it took five days to reach the South China Sea. But this matter is no longer important, because the powder keg of Europe has been ignited and has attracted the attention of the whole world.

Without warning, the Soviet Union and Germany brazenly launched the "White Plan" at dawn on the 25th, and the two sides jointly attacked Poland. Originally, this plan was launched after the Soviet-German Non-Aggression Pact was signed, but it was delayed by China until now. However, the programme has remained largely unchanged.

After Hitler tore up the Treaty of Versailles and announced conscription, the Wehrmacht was far from being as large as Poland. At the time of peace, Germany had about 600,000 troops, while Poland had only 210,000. The same is true of the disparity in mobilization potential, with the former having 102 divisions in addition to the 51 divisions on active duty in wartime, while Poland can only have 30 regular divisions and 15 reserve divisions.

Germany is now mobilizing 5.5 million troops, 4 million of whom have completed combat training, a large part of whom are secretly trained in China. In addition, because of the covert operations carried out by the German army, they were quickly prepared for mobilization without being detected, and the mobilization was divided into four echelons: the first echelon was the best quality, the most well-equipped, the most mechanized and the most numerous, with about 18,000 men per division, and there were 35 such divisions, with a total of about 630,000 soldiers. The second echelon consisted of 16 divisions, each consisting of about 15,000 reservists, for a total of 240,000 men. The third echelon is made up of older or less well-trained reserve forces; The fourth echelon is made up of reinforced battalions of regular troops, which are used in reinforcement or secondary defensive operations with units in the third echelon.

The German Army was limited to 100,000 men during the Weimar period, so that only the elite elements of its army remained, and the Entente's arms limitation treaty did not regulate the number of non-commissioned officers, so they were trained a lot, and they were expected to serve as middle and lower-level officers in the future expansion of the army.

In the original time and space, even if the German command staff was of excellent quality and amazing mobilization ability, the production of its soldiers' weapons was not enough to meet the demand, such as the German automobile industry could not bear the load, many units were forced to use horses as the main means of transport, and still used many old weapons, such as Mauser 98K rifles and MP18 submachine guns, both of which were products of the First World War, and in terms of anti-tank weapons, the German army mainly used 37 mm 36 year anti-tank guns, and the Polish army mainly used Pofos 37 mm anti-tank guns, and the performance of the two was also very close. Therefore, in general, the units closest to the combat strength and equipment quality of the German and Polish armies are infantry divisions and combat defense weapons. However, the Germans had a considerable advantage over the Polish army in terms of the number of weapons, for example, one of its infantry divisions was equipped with 735 light machine guns, which was more than double the Polish army's 326.

And in this time and space, with the support of China behind it, Germany's equipment is completely different. It is equipped with a large number of new rifles, as well as some automatic rifles, and all of them are equipped with Chinese-made Chinese C-2 submachine guns (C-type improved). There is no need to worry about trucks, as long as Hitler opens his mouth, there is enough pay, and how many trucks are needed, China can buy him as many trucks as he wants. In this way, the strength of the German army was greatly strengthened.

Of course, the weapons equipped by the German army are not only Chinese, but more weapons and equipment are developed and produced by themselves, but the output is insufficient, so it is necessary to entrust China to produce them, and also buy some back as reserves.

Compared to Poland, the German Army's most dominant weapon was tanks, that is, armored forces. Previously, the German army of Heinz. General Gudeli developed a set of advanced mobile warfare guidelines and successfully persuaded his superiors to follow the Chinese army in establishing division-level armored units, which were jointly organized by tanks, artillery, and vehicle-mounted infantry, and coordinated with the air force. Guderian was able to convince opponents of the War Office because of Hitler's support, and in 1933 he formed three Panzer Divisions, each with two tank regiments, which would have 561 tanks at full strength. In 1937, the Germans created four more motorized rifle divisions. By the time of the Polish campaign, the Germans had 8 panzer divisions, 4 light divisions and 4 motorized infantry divisions, these motorized units were collectively known as "fast troops", with a total of about 4,500–4,900 tanks, a small number of which were tank No. 1, which was originally used for training, armed with only two machine guns, and the armor was quite weak, which could be destroyed by the artillery of Polish mini-tanks. The second has slightly more firepower than the first, but it is still inferior to the Western tanks of the same period. The No. 3 and No. 4 tanks, which served as the real main force of the German army, as well as the Chinese Leopard and Chinese Tiger imported from China, which the Germans directly named Tiger and Panther, are the main tank force of the German army today. Like the Chinese, the Leopard and Tiger Germans were also called Type 1 to Type 3 according to the number of improvements. Of course, Germany has also developed and improved its own domestic tanks according to the Chinese tank, so that the performance of the No. 3 and No. 4 tanks has been greatly improved, and they are not weaker than the latest Chinese Tiger tank. Gram.

The Luftwaffe was also far more powerful than the Polish Air Force, mainly used to provide tactical support and assist the ground forces in their offensives, especially the JU87 dive bomber, whose precise strike ability and special whistling sound had a considerable impact on the morale of the Polish army. The Germans also had the BF109, one of the most advanced fighters in the world, and a large number of medium bombers, mainly the HE111 and DO17 bombers. Of course, Germany is also equipped with a large number of Warhawk-1 and Warhawk-2 fighters, and a large number of H-2s are in service in Germany, and their combat effectiveness is also very strong. If Germany had not developed its own domestic bomber industry, I am afraid that it would have been equipped with all the Chinese H-2s, because the six-ton bomb load had already killed all the medium-sized bombers developed by Germany in seconds.

Between 1936 and 1939, Hitler organized the "Vulture Army" with the air force as the main backbone to go to Spain to participate in the civil war, and gained a lot of actual combat experience. In addition to China, the Luftwaffe at this time was probably the most experienced, well-trained and well-equipped air force in the world, and the German army used a total of 2,695 aircraft in the German-Polish war, including 771 fighters, 408 destroyers, 336 dive bombers and 1,180 bombers, of which more than 200 were used in reconnaissance missions.

At the moment, the total number of Polish troops was only one million, and the mobilization for war could barely reach one and a half million, and fourteen cavalry brigades and two tank brigades were already four tank battalions. On the air side, there is only one Elk that can compete with Luftwaffe fighters, but the number is only 100, which does not play much role at all. In terms of artillery, only one Polish infantry division was equipped with 48 guns, which was incomparable with Germany.

Germany's "White Plan" retried a similar approach to the "Schlieffen Plan" that had failed in World War I: to take a defensive position on one side, concentrate most of the main forces, and achieve a quick and decisive victory on the other, to end the unfavorable situation of fighting on two fronts as soon as possible (to concentrate forces on Poland and to take a defensive position against the Western allies), to attack the enemy on the flanks and force him to engage in a frontal battle, to win as little as possible, and to achieve the "Cannae model" of encirclement and annihilation with mobile warfare, so as to destroy the enemy's living forces.

Compared with the first war, the German army already had two new generations of weapons - aircraft and tanks, and they were also fully developed in terms of technology and the nature of their tasks, both of which were not only stronger than the products of the First World War, but also faster.
