Chapter 3 Sun Wukong erects a river bridge and a blue jade bottle becomes a holy relic
Section 3: Wukong Divine Cultivation Civilization Bridge
"Boys, which of you will go home and find a ruler. I'll teach you how to measure the exact distance of the last 'cub'! Sun Wukong said to the four little boys.
"I'll go home and bring the bamboo ruler!" Xiao Jiang replied and turned around and ran home.
"You usually play 'cubs', how can you measure them without a ruler?" Sun Wukong said to the three little boys.
"We usually use this female stick to measure the distance of 'cubs'." Xiao Wenying replied: "This female stick is one foot and two inches long, hold one end steadily with your hand, and measure it upside down back and forth, and soon it will have a size!" Xiao Wenying said as he gestured and showed Wukong the measurements.
"The accuracy of this measurement is too poor. When you encounter a river, you can't measure it! Without the help of these two pigeons today, we would not have been able to know the exact distance of the last 'cub'. Sun Wukong said to the three boys.
"This fairy lord, how did you find these two pigeons?" Xiao Wenying asked.
"I raised these two pigeons. Usually at home. As soon as they hear my whistle, they will soon fly to my side! Sun Wukong said to the three little boys.
Sun Wukong and the three little boys were talking, and Xiao Jiang came back from running. In his hand he holds a 'meter ruler' made of bamboo. This 'meter ruler' is exactly one meter long, one inch wide, and about 5 mm thick. The length of the size on the 'meter ruler' is carved with a sharp iron tool with deep imprints, and white ash is placed in the imprints. Then the whole 'meter ruler' is soaked in tung oil, the bamboo (ruler) body is translucent, and the 'size' is conspicuous.
"Measure the distance from your standing point to the pigeons by the river." Sun Wukong said to the four little boys.
"One meter, two meters, three metersγγγγγγ" Xiao Jiang measured and reported the number!
"53 meters!" Xiao Wenying reported loudly to Sun Wukong!
"Good! Then you measure the distance between the two pigeons. Sun Wukong said to the four little boys.
"One meter, two meters, three metersγγγγγγ" Xiao Jiang measured and reported the number!
"23 meters!" Xiao Wenying reported loudly to Sun Wukong!
"Good! You will know the exact distance of the last 'cub' when you come here! Sun Wukong said to the four little boys.
"53 meters plus 23 meters equals 76 meters. Grandpa Sun, are you right when you say I'm right! Xiao Wenying reported loudly to Sun Wukong.
"That's right! The exact distance of the last 'cub' is 76 meters. Did you all go to school? "Sun Wukong asked the four little boys?
"Xiao Jiang's father is a teacher, and we are all his father's students." Xiao Wenying said.
"So you're all more knowledgeable than me! I originally wanted to teach you how to quickly use a 'meter ruler' to measure the distance between two pigeons, and I wanted to teach you to use this 'number', plus the sum of the original distance on land, which is the exact distance number for Zhu Yongjie to hit the last "cub". Now it seems that there is no need for this! Sun Wukong said to the four little boys.
Sun Wukong taught the boys to quickly measure the distance between two pigeons with a 'meter ruler'. The little boys themselves used this "number", plus the sum of the original distance numbers on land, to calculate the exact distance number of Zhu Yingjie to hit the last "cub".
In order to pick up the "cubs" that flew across the river, Sun Wukong borrowed a female stick from Xiao Wenying and other four little boys, and threw the four female sticks, about five meters apart, on the surface of the Wenming River. Then, he performed the light skill of "dragonfly water", stepped lightly on the female stick with his feet, and the kung fu reached the opposite shore in an instant. Sun Wukong picked up the last "cub", turned around and stepped lightly on the female stick with his foot, and instantly returned to the little boys. Before the little boys could react, Sun Wukong cast a spell to take back all the four female sticks floating on the river and handed them over to the little boys one by one.
The game is over, and the winner is decided. Before Sun Wukong left, he put forward a permanent and feasible guiding suggestion to the little boys for the simple and practical sport of "playing cubs".
"Babies, you must unify the equipment for cubs in the future."
Since that day, the little boys in the Xianren Mountain and Tianzigang areas have unified the equipment used for "beating cubs": for example, the female stick is round, with a straight diameter of 2 cm and a length of one foot; The cub stick has a straight diameter of 1 cm and a length of 3 inches. In this way, the distance is measured directly with a "stick" during the competition. This standard, ever since, has continued among local boys.
"Boys, I'm leaving. If you have any difficulties, just tell my grandfather. Sun Wukong asked the little boys what difficulties they still had?
Xiao Jiang, the youngest boy, said: "Our river flows all year round. If there is a bridge here, it will be convenient for us to cross the river and 'play cubs'! β
"What's so hard about that! Babies, watch your grandpa build a bridge! Goku said to the little boys.
After Sun Wukong finished speaking, he plucked a pinch of monkey hair from his body, blew fairy breath, and dozens of skilled craftsmen quickly transported bluestone plates from the southern slope of Xianren Mountain, and built a double-arch stone bridge on the river in an instant. Sun Wukong named it the Bridge of Civilization. This river was originally called the Civilization River. After an unknown number of years, after the bridge deck of the arch bridge was washed away by the flood, the people of Xiaojiaao and Zhushanyuan raised funds to build a very beautiful wooden bridge by using the bluestone pier in the middle. The bridge deck has two thickened, more than one meter wide boardwalks. The wooden bridge is flanked on both sides by a meter-high guardrail. There is a locust tree with a diameter of more than one meter at the head of the bridge on the west bank. Ten meters away from the locust tree, there is a spring that lasts all year round. The branches and leaves of the locust tree can cover the entire wooden bridge more than 20 meters wide. On a hot summer day, whether it is a local person or a person from Qiyang and Shaoyang who is passing by this bridge, they will go to the bridge to cool off and chat. It's a pity and a pity, in 1976 A.D. of the last century, that is, with the people of Xianren Mountain and Tianzigang, the year when Chairman Mao, a contemporary great man who grew up drinking Xiangjiang River water (Jiandijing spring water), died in his old man's home, the former commune secretary instructed the peasants to change the original winding civilized river road to a straight river road. As a result, due to the violation of the laws of nature, the flood washed away the wooden bridge, and the ancient locust trees died silently. Today's civilized bridge, in addition to the piers still preserve thousands of years of bluestone material unchanged, the bridge deck and both sides of the bridge have been unrecognizable. The bridge deck is a prefabricated flat cement without guardrails. There are no large trees on either side of the bridge to shade you. The original spring water is no longer visible. Nowadays, after the "village-to-village" highway is repaired, people in Qiyang and Shaoyang usually take the road, and few people take the civilized bridge anymore.
The little boys want to learn from Sun Wukong as a teacher.
Wukong said to the boys, "I learned all my skills from my masters. I have an immortal master who taught me martial arts. Today's masters can read, read, and know a lot of knowledge. You should learn from my master, read more books and read in the future, and use your knowledge to do more good deeds for mankind when you grow up and become talents. β
These teachings of Sun Wukong later inspired generations of people near Xianren Mountain and Tianzigang to study hard, and there were college students in all dynasties and generations.
"Grandpa Sun, your pair of god pigeons, leave them for us to raise!" The boys ask Goku to keep the pigeon.
Wukong said to the little boys, "This is a dove for the gods, and mortals can't keep them." The dove is a messenger of peace and a symbol of fairness. As long as there is a competition, there must be a referee. The referee should have the same fair heart as a pigeon. I will turn this pair of pigeons into a piece of bluestone and give it to Xiao (Xiao) Hanqing, the presiding officer of the nunnery, for safekeeping. β
The classic quotations of Sun Wukong educating the little boys were later used by the four little boys (Xiao Jiang later became a teacher; Xiao Wenying later became a "village official") learned to apply it to the competition. No matter what kind of competition the locals are playing, the pigeons are released at the opening ceremony. Later, this symbolic approach to judging impartiality has now been adopted by the International Olympic Committee.
Sun Wukong turned the pair of pigeons into a piece of bluestone and left them in Xianren Mountain permanently. At that time, Sun Wukong returned to the nunnery from the Civilization Bridge, and began to see Bajie flirting with a village girl in the air, and later saw that the village girl was the goddess of Chang'e. So he pressed the head of the cloud and jumped to the ground to worship the goddess Chang'e. The goddess of Chang'e explained to Wukong and Wu Nengxiang in detail the reason for coming to Meitang Xianren Mountain and Tianzigang area this time. The goddess of Chang'e gave Wukong a "jade bottle" entrusted by Guanyin Bodhisattva.
The goddess Chang'e said to Wukong: "Great Sage, this jade bottle is one of the sacred relics of the Dragon Vein Holy Land of Tianzigang. The fateful person holds 300 grams of bottled holy water from the 'bottom well' at the foot of the immortal mountain and puts it into the mound of Tianzigang. At that time, the 'Immortal Divine Protection' of its royal foundation will be 300 years. β
After Sun Wukong returned to the nunnery, he handed over the "jade bottle" and "bluestone flying pigeon" to his master Chen Xuanzang.
Tang Seng - Chen Xuanzang left Xianren Mountain before leaving the Immortal Mountain, the "bluestone flying pigeon" that hid the "secret of the book of heaven" and the "red stone golden carp" of Sun Wujing - fish; Wu Neng's "porcelain bottle grass" - grass; Wukong's "Jade Bottle Holy Water" - water; The white dragon horse's "scoop dragon saliva" - the four holy relics of wine are secretly handed over to Xiao (Xiao) Hanqing, the host of the nunnery.
During the "special period" from 1966 to 1976, the nunnery was demolished. The flying pigeon with the demeanor of bluestone is scattered among the people. In a certain month in 2011, Mr. Xiao Zhiwang, the editor of the "Street Talk" column of the Qidong Forum website, accidentally saw the main part of the "bluestone flying pigeon" (the base has been damaged) near the chessboard left by Tang Seng and Xiao Hanqing, the host of the nunnery, which is now collected by him at home and regarded as a treasure. In June 2012, when the author went to Xianren Mountain to interview and write this article, the people of Xianren Mountain had publicly proposed to Mr. Xiao Zhiwang to recall the flying pigeon with a bluestone demeanor. The reason is: the "bluestone flying pigeon" left by Sun Wukong has been used by the descendants of the people near Xianren Mountain to produce many college students for generations. If this "bluestone flying pigeon" is collected by him, it will be difficult for the children and grandchildren of the people near their immortal mountain to come out of college again! Mr. Xiao Zhiwang has promised to return the "bluestone flying pigeon" to Xianren Mountain. The exact date will be subject to availability. At the very least, Xianren Mountain should have a place to preserve the "bluestone flying pigeon" (such as the restoration of the nunnery). At present, this non-governmental proposal is being deliberated by representatives of both sides.
According to common sense, the monk's place of residence is called a temple; The place of residence of the Taoist priest is called the view; The place of residence of the nuns is called the nunnery. The nunnery next to the Immortal Mountain, why was the Taoist priest presiding over Xiao (Xiao) Hanqing inhabited back then? It is said that during the reign of Li Yuan (618-626 AD), the temple next to Xianren Mountain was famous. The presiding officer of the nunnery is a highly respected and martial arts Xiao (Xiao) nun. I don't know whether it is God's will or the intentional arrangement of Guanyin Bodhisattva, in 626-649 A.D., when Tang Taizong Li Shimin was proclaimed emperor, that is, the year before Tang monk Chen Xuanzang's master and apprentice came to Xianren Mountain, Xiao (Xiao) Tainun led all 4 female disciples in the nunnery to leave the nunnery. At that time, he said to the outside world that he was going to Emeishan in Sichuan to preach. It is impossible to verify where he went. Mrs. Xiao (Xiao) presided over the entire nunnery to his cousin Xiao (Xiao) Hanqing. Xiao (Xiao) Hanqing was originally a director of the Wulongshan Taoist (Guan) Sect for more than 20 years. Less than a year after Xiao (Xiao) Hanqing took over the nunnery next to Xianren Mountain, he ushered in Guanyin Bodhisattva to receive the "Buddha's Decree" from the Buddha, and the "Dharma Transmission" Tang monks and apprentices went to Xianren Mountain to prepare the four holy relics of "fish, grass, water and wine" for the Tianzigang Dragon Vein Holy Land. Since that year, Xiao (Xiao) Hanqing, as a lay Taoist, has been passed down from generation to generation, guarding this "heavenly opportunity". For thousands of years, the locals have kept the name of the nunnery unchanged. In the early days of the Republic of China and the founding of the People's Republic of China, the nunnery was used as a place for running (primary) schools. In 1958, the local government built a dam 500 meters downstream of the "Yindi Well" at the foot of Xianren Mountain and built the Meitang Reservoir. The school is located on a hill in the center of the upper reaches of the reservoir. In 1962, local officials demolished the nunnery and relocated the school to Liumu Hall for the safety of the students. The school is called Meitang Primary School. Today, Meitang Primary School has been relocated downstream of the Meitang Reservoir Dam. (Attached photos as proof)
