This gave the Blues snipers a good chance, and because the airborne forces were not equipped with many mortars themselves, the range of the 82 Wu was also within the range of the Blues sniper rifles.

In other words, the "heavy weapons" carried by the Red Army were basically crushed by snipers or anti-aircraft machine guns, and the charge of the Red Army soldiers was vulnerable to the fire of AK74s and squad machine guns.
