Chapter 172: Offset

Judging from the performance of the Type 79 sniper rifle on live ammunition, my previous preparation was quite prescient.

Although the SVD sniper rifle is not new, and even has been used on the battlefield and has some problems of one kind or another, at least it will not be like this batch of imitation rifles with a few rounds of error.

So I quickly settled on Jihua...... The Type 79 sniper rifle is only used for training, and the SVD is used when it actually goes to war or before it goes to war.

As for that batch of SVDs, there may be parts damaged...... This problem is easy to solve, as long as the parts of the key parts are not broken, then the Type 79 will be dismantled and repaired, and the sniper rifles in my hands whether they are Type 79 or SVD have as many as 300, so I am fully confident that the sniper rifles in the hands of the soldiers will be kept at the same height as the Vietnamese army.

This is a must...... Because I don't want any of my soldiers to fall under the enemy's guns because of their lack of equipment, for me...... If I can reduce the losses of my warriors with money or equipment, I will not hesitate to exchange it.

It's just that this method is only suitable for the troops I have in my hands...... The number of troops in our army is too large, and the Sino-Vietnamese border is too long...... This determines that our army has great requirements for the number of sniper rifles, and if it is really said that it can achieve a satisfactory value, it is not too much to replace the 56 and a half of the whole army with sniper rifles.

Therefore, with such a large number of requirements, it is impossible to be fully equipped with SVD like us, which naturally depends on 79 snipers...... So I can only hope that this 79 sniper can solve these problems clearly before mass production.

To say that this 79 sniper equipment to our army is still of great benefit...... This benefit is not just that you can shoot with it...... The accuracy of the 79 sniper is not high. But for the protection of SVD, we still consider using 79 sniper when shooting in peacetime, after all, the length of this thing, the magazine and other aspects are the same as SVD, and the range is also greatly improved compared to 56 and a half, so it is quite good for soldiers to practice their feel and shoot medium-range targets...... Some fighters even thought of a way to cool the barrel for a period of time every six rounds to avoid the error of hot and cold in the 79 sniper.

Of course, this is not a very practical approach...... It is very likely that there is no such cooldown time on the battlefield, or that the fighter will go away at the same time as the cooldown, but there is no way to do it, and the equipment can only be made up and practiced.

The other benefit is that the fighters can finally carry sniper rifles on their backs during training...... Don't say that this benefit is not important, you must know that the length and weight of the 79 sniper are different from the Type 56 submachine gun. These details, perhaps, are inconsequential to ordinary fighters. But for snipers...... That is likely to lead to fatal mistakes.

For example, the length of the gun...... The 79 sniper is much longer than the 56 rush, which makes the sniper have many more problems when crawling on the back of the 79 sniper, pay attention not to let the barrel trip the branches, and pay attention to the camouflage of the gun. When entering the sniper position, the position should also be laid according to the length of the 79 sniper......

That's when we found out that the problem with the 79 sniper scope was fatal...... This scope is not tightly stuck because it is not tight. So even if you just finished the gun and then remove the scope and put it back on...... Again, there will be a big deviation.

For a sniper...... The scope is often removed before entering a sniper position. This makes it easier for the sniper to crawl into position with his gun on his back, and then put the scope on when he enters a suitable lurking position...... However, this shortcoming of the 79 sniper made the soldiers dare not remove the scope after the gun, so they could only carry it on their backs.

But new problems soon arose...... When the gun is on the back of the body, it is inevitable that it will be bumped by the crawling action. If you are careful to touch the scope, you will make an error.

So the scope becomes not pretended, and it is not pretended...... To put it simply, this gun is not accurate, and for a long time, the soldiers have no confidence in this gun or even in their own marksmanship.

This made me have to change to SVD when the soldiers practiced shooting, otherwise I was afraid that when I got the SVD on the battlefield, I would subconsciously follow the habit of 79 snipers.

Then it was finally time to practice shooting......

The first thing to do is to measure the distance...... This is somewhat similar to artillery tactics, but in fact there is a difference...... The range of this artillery can be calculated with a rod, a steering wheel and the like, as well as a calculation wheel, but the sniper does not have this time at all...... The main reason is that artillery targets are often large areas, and the areas covered by artillery fire will not go, but snipers are different...... Snipers shoot moving targets, often more than one, and sometimes they quickly move to long-range targets after hitting them...... As a result, the calculation of the target distance is often not so long, and more often depends on the experience and tacit understanding between the sniper and the observer.

For example, when an observer sees a target, he quickly calculates the distance to the target and points out the distance and the target to the sniper, so that the sniper can aim and shoot based on this data, and the observer can calculate the distance to another target...... Such a cooperation will undoubtedly improve the efficiency of the sniper to a great extent, which means that the cooperation of two people will be greater than the simple sum of the combat effectiveness of two snipers.

At this point, we still lack a telescope that can directly read out the distance to the target like a modern sniper, and the rangefinder does have ...... However, this thing is still relatively advanced equipment for our country, and even artillery and 59 tanks are not equipped, but only in Type 69 tanks.

Another, more important reason is...... The rangefinder of this era is still a big thing, and it's really inconvenient for a sniper to carry it on his body, and aiming at such a big thing on the battlefield is tantamount to looking for death, so I have no intention of using this thing at all.

But the good thing is that the fighters have two hands...... The soldiers who entered the sniper company were all sharpshooters, that is, they had a lot of experience in shooting before, so the problem of judging distance was naturally not difficult for them.

The most practical way to do this is to use a rifle sight to determine distance...... When the human body occupies the full crosshair, it is almost 70 meters, when it occupies one-half it is 140 meters, and when it occupies one-third it is 350 meters...... And so on, and so on, it is quickly possible to calculate the distance between the targets at a distance of 500 meters.

There is also what the fighters call the "sound and light method...... As the name suggests, this "sound and light method" refers to the use of ranging according to the speed of sound and the speed of light, such as seeing an enemy mortar man firing an artillery...... When you see the fire from the muzzle, you start counting, one, two, three, four, five...... When I counted to five, I heard the sound of cannonballs, so I multiplied by 110 to get a distance of 550 meters.

I'll admit that as a self-proclaimed sniper, I never thought I could use these methods for ranging...... I used to shoot guns on instinct, but now I hear the soldiers say that...... I really feel that I can hit the target, and there is a lot of luck in it.

But whether it's intuition or luck...... At this time, I learned about these methods and tried them on the shooting range, and found that they really worked, so it was also an improvement for myself.

This fully proves the saying: "The wisdom of the masses is infinite." ”

Then there is another question...... Goals are often not fixed.

Of course, if our opponent is a Vietnamese sniper, it is more necessary to observe, analyze, and then judge the opponent's position and shoot, and the target of the shot is likely to be fixed...... But such cases must be rare, and most of the time, even Vietnamese snipers will constantly change positions.

So the first thing to know is some simple data...... Infantry marches at a speed of up to 1.5 meters per second, jumps at a speed of 3 meters per second, runs at a speed of 4.5 meters per second, vehicles slow at a speed of 4 meters per second, medium speeds at 8 meters per second, and fast speeds at a speed of 12 meters per second......

The offset can then be calculated based on this velocity...... Calculating the offset is easy to say, but it's not so easy when it comes to calculating it.

The first is the warhead flight time, which is calculated by the distance of the target and the speed of the bullet.

Then there is the offset = target movement speed * warhead flight time * sine value of the target movement direction and horizontal angle.

The first two are good to say, the speed of target movement and the flight time of the warhead...... These are almost dead, in which the flight time of the warhead can be said to be alive, but in fact, we know the speed of the bullet in advance, and then we can also calculate the flight time in advance at different distances, such as what is the flight time of 300 meters, and what is the flight time of 350 meters...... These can be memorized beforehand.

The difficulty is the sine value of the back angle......

So needless to say, it was a lot of mathematical training like practicing artillery tactics before, doing multiplication, memorizing sine values, etc., and it was also required to be fast...... The reason is that we are fighting people, and this person is also a Vietnamese devil with rich combat experience, and they will not do extremely regular exercises for a period of time.

Therefore, if you want to hit the target at a long distance, you must calculate this offset in the fastest possible time, just subconsciously.

However, I felt that it was completely necessary, and even I felt that it was necessary for them to learn the observation of artillery coordinates, because I knew very well that snipers sometimes did not just shoot guns, and many times they could provide artillerymen with coordinates to guide artillery fire to bomb targets. (To be continued......)
