July 1903 Japan-Korea naval strength
The main combat ships of the Imperial Japanese Navy in July 1903:
1. Armored cruisers
* The 1st Panzer Cruiser Squadron: "Fuji" (launched in 1898) and "Izumo" (launched in 1899).
* The 2nd Sentai of the armored cruisers: "Iwate" (launched in 1901) and "Yakumo" (launched in 1902).
The first two ships were purchased from the United Kingdom and the last two were self-built. The standard displacement is 9700 tons, the speed is 21.5 knots, the main gun is 2 twin 203 mm/45 times the diameter, the secondary gun is 12 x 152 mm/45 times the diameter (later modified to 12 x 150 mm/45 times the diameter), 12 12-pounder rapid-fire guns and 7 47 mm rapid-fire guns, and 5 torpedoes 450 mm launch tubes. Waterline armor 3-5 inches, deck armor 2-3 inches, turret armor 6 inches, boiler and engine room 4-8 inches. The crew is 672 people.
Remark:
Izumo and Yakumo swapped teams after October 1903.
There are 2 improved Asama classes of this class: "Asama" and "Tokiban", the basic armament remains unchanged, the displacement has increased to 9850 tons, the armor protection has been enhanced, and the speed has been reduced to 21 knots. In July 1904, "Asama" entered service, and in September "Tokiwa" entered service.
2. Light cruisers (including protective cruisers)
* 1st squadron of light cruisers: "Asahi", "Kasuga", "Nisshin", "Nisshin" (launched from England in 1898-1902).
The standard displacement is 4760 tons, the speed is 24 knots. 2 main guns of 203 mm/45 x diameter, 8 secondary guns of 152 mm/45 times diameter (later changed to 150 mm/45 times diameter), 6 12-pounder rapid-fire guns and 5 47 mm rapid-fire guns, boilers and engine rooms with 4-6 inch armor. The crew is 361 people.
* 2nd squadron of light cruisers: "Takasago", "Chitose", "Otowaba", "Tone" (launched from Germany in 1899-1902).
Standard displacement 4135 tons, speed 22 knots. There are 10 main guns of 150 mm/45 x diameter, 8 secondary guns of 75 mm rapid fire, and 6 guns of 47 mm rapid fire. The boiler and nacelle were equipped with 4-6 inch armor. The crew is 338.
* The 3rd Sentai of light cruisers: "Kasaki", "Aso", "Soya", "Tsugaru" (launched in 1900-1903 and built on their own).
Standard displacement 3000 tons, speed 23 knots. 10 main guns of 152 mm/45 x diameter (later changed to 150 mm/45 times diameter), 6 secondary guns of 75 mm rapid fire, 5 guns of 47 mm rapid fire. The crew is 309.
3. Destroyers
* Expelling the first team: "Thunder", "Lightning", "Dawn", "Dawn", "Hazy", "Kasumi", "Fog", "Xi".
Displacement 350 tons, speed 26 knots, two single-mounted torpedo tubes, 1 75-mm rapid-fire gun, 2 47-mm rapid-fire guns.
* Destroys 8 destroyers of the 2nd Sentai Squadron: "Congyun", "Baiyun", "Chaoyun", "Chaowu", "Chaoshio", and "Chubo".
Displacement 650 tons, speed 30 knots, two twin torpedo tubes, 2 75-mm rapid-fire guns, several machine guns.
* Expelling the 3rd Sentai Force: 8 Congyun-class destroyers.
4. Torpedo boats
The first, second and third combat teams, 33 large and small torpedo boats, and 3 torpedo boat carriers.

1. Armored ships
"Jiandong", the original Chinese Navy ship of the same name, was transferred to the Korean Navy in 1895 and was listed as a "third-class armored warship". The standard displacement is 4850 tons, the speed is 17 knots, 1 main gun is 305 mm/24 times the diameter, and 9 secondary guns are 150 mm/30 times the diameter.
2. Cruisers
* 1st Cruiser: "Ganghwa", "Gunsan", "Jeju", "Busan" (launched from Germany in 1897-1899).
Standard displacement 2900 tons, speed 22 knots. One twin 210 mm/24 x main gun, five 150 mm/30 x diameter, four 37 mm rapid-fire guns, and a 4-inch armor in the boiler nacelle. The crew is 225 people.
* Second Cruiser: "Incheon", "Jinhae", "Ulsan", "Wonsan" (launched from Germany in 1900-1903).
The standard displacement is 3150 tons, the speed is 23 knots. 10 main guns 150 mm/40 x diameter, 10 secondary guns 75 mm rapid-fire. The crew is 298.
