Chapter 195: The Secret Front Section 2: The So-called "Spy War"
Speaking of which, we have to talk about a long-standing misunderstanding, that is, the problem of covert front and spy warfare.
The term "spy warfare" itself is contrary to our party and the covert struggle we are talking about now, because the word "espionage" itself is a derogatory term, and our party has never called its own intelligence personnel spies, still less can we talk about any kind of "spy warfare" against the other side, but can only talk about secret workers and underground workers.
In the past, the Soviet Union did not recognize it, and awarded the Soviet Union the title of "Hero of Scouting", but now Putin says that they are talking about Russian scouts, and they do not admit that they are spies. "Spy" is a derogatory term, and the word "spy war" is a hype, a commercial word, a gimmick to attract the attention of viewers and readers.
Although the wording is different, according to the chairman's definition of secret work, it is a covert front and a covert war. The President once said: "There are two kinds of wars that must be fought to defeat the enemy, one is an open war and the other is a covert war". In the struggle against the enemy after liberation, it is also necessary to carry out a struggle on two fronts, the open front and the covert front.
According to the practice of military struggle, in the international community, the first department is the operations department, and the second department is the intelligence department. In the past, the Japanese sequence was learned from them in old China, and the first department of the Japanese General Staff Headquarters was the War Department, and the second department was the Intelligence Department. In the middle of the Kuomintang sequence, all those with the word "two" were engaged in spies, and the director of the second department and the director of the second department were all with "two"; of course, the Kuomintang later worked as spies. Now the same is true of the People's Liberation Army, and the Second Department of our General Staff Department is also engaged in intelligence work. There is a difference between the Kuomintang's "two" character and political training. Political training is to engage in intelligence to the outside world. Also take care of the internal. The Kuomintang Political Training Office is an out-and-out spy on the inside.
From the day of its founding to the 22-year revolutionary war in which the Party seized revolutionary power, our Party has always adhered to the underground struggle, and the success or failure of the struggle on this secret front has also directly affected every step of the course of the revolutionary war. The founder of the Chinese underground organization and the subsequent formulation and leader of the entire rules and regulations of underground work was undoubtedly Zhou Enlai.
What is the task of underground work? A few years ago, there was a big misunderstanding in the filming and publicity of film and television works with official words and cooperation words, that is, as the person in charge of the film and television unit, you asked him what is the main task of underground work? Didn't he say intelligence? Whether he saw it or not, he didn't know that this was a big misunderstanding.
The Chair concluded that. There are five types of tasks for underground work: the secret organization of the Party, the secret organization of the masses, the secret joint actions of the parties, the secret intelligence work, and the open organization and open preparatory work in advance. According to the chairman's words, intelligence work is one of the five major tasks of secret work, and it is also the fourth, and it is a great misunderstanding to regard all underground work as engaging in intelligence. The main reason is that the current film and television works hype it as underground work equals intelligence work, so that it can pass the censorship and sell out.
When I was in Yan'an. The Party Central Committee made special arrangements for intelligence work, called the "Chinese Revolutionary Army on Two Fronts", one was the Soviet area and the other was the White Zone, with Liu Shaoqi as the representative. It is difficult to publicize the covert struggle for a long time, and it is the same in all countries, the heroes of the open front can immediately hang up big red flowers, and the newspapers can report immediately, and the hidden front often takes decades to uncover, and the secret cannot be revealed even if the war is won, and if it is revealed that your work method is known to others, others will guard against you.
As a result, a lot of information about secret struggles often takes decades to uncover. For example, how to decipher the code, it will take twenty or thirty years to tell you how to decipher it, and if it is announced after the war, your opponent will immediately know the truth. Therefore, many of these things are unsung heroes, open warfare is open heroes, and secret warfare is unsung heroes.
After the liberation, under the organization of Zhou Enlai, this experience was summed up, but it was hit twice, once by anti-localism in the 50s and the experience of criticizing the white areas in the 60s, and it was not until after the Third Plenary Session of the 11th Central Committee in the 80s that this experience was summed up in more detail.
In the middle of the Great Revolution, it was distorted, and it became a political issue to highlight the underground work or the armed struggle, and the young people may not have read "The Red Lantern", and at that time Guo Jianguang was required to fight the strong light, and A Qingsao's sister wanted to fight the weak light, and the strong light highlighted the armed struggle, and even the light had to be restricted, and the task of Aqingsao's last time was to cooperate with Guo Jianguang to engage in armed struggle, which in itself violated the basic principles of underground work.
The underground party must not engage in armed struggle, unless on the eve of the victory of the revolution, the underground party and the armed struggle are immediately exposed, and the underground work must be separated from the armed struggle itself, which again violates the principle. By the time of the Cultural Revolution, Liu Shaoqi had been overthrown, and there was no way to summarize the work of many white areas.
After the eighties, there was another problem, the impact of commercialization. In the early eighties, a more famous TV series "Eighteen Years in the Enemy Camp" was all the rage at that time. At that time, Xia Yan, the authority of the older generation of film and television, who had been engaged in underground work for a long time, sighed after watching it, saying that the director was too young and did not understand the basic principles of the party's underground work. Now there are some film and television works that there is no way to watch, and people who know history feel absurd when they watch it.
In the past 30 years, a large number of dark war films have made up nonsense in pursuit of excitement and box office value. It's okay to fictional plots in film and television works, feature films, of course, you can fictional plots, but the basic context, the background of historical figures should be in line with the truth, but in terms of basic principles, many films violate the trend of real history, and of course there are many good ones. We say that the center of the Party's underground work is to win over the masses of all strata, including the underground labor movement, mobilize the workers, the peasant movement, the student movement, the enemy workers, the united front, and intelligence is a very secondary task.
Taking the Anti-Japanese War as an example, our current propaganda for the Anti-Japanese War sometimes falls into a sense of pathos, lacking deep historical and cultural reflection. Now a lot of propaganda, like Lu Xun's Xianglin sister-in-law, every day is how I was beaten and suffered, it is not interesting to talk about this every day, there should be a little deep reflection. Wasn't it because China was corrupt and incompetent, and China's war to resist Japanese conquest promoted the great progress of the whole nation. The Kuomintang was corrupt and incompetent during the war, which created conditions for the development of our party.
The tasks of the Chinese Revolutionary War during the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression were twofold, the national revolution and the democratic revolution. The national revolution hit Japan, what was the democratic revolution? It is necessary to weaken the forces of reaction and develop the forces of revolution, so as to prepare the conditions for the victory of the Chinese revolution after its greatest victory. Some of us say that the War of Resistance against Japan is to fight Japan, but not to fight Japan, and that is not to fight Japan, as a War of Resistance led by the Communist Party of China, in addition to fighting Japanese imperialism, it is also developing China's revolutionary strength, and it is necessary to finally win the victory of the revolution and establish New China.
During the Anti-Japanese War, the Kuomintang authorities were temporary allies of our party, and Chiang Kai-shek never recognized the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. In our movie, Chiang Kai-shek admits the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, which is all made up by the film and television directors themselves, when did Chiang Kai-shek, the leader of the Nationalist Government, talk about the cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party? In any official documents of the Nationalist Government and in the public speeches of Chiang Kai-shek, there is no such thing as "cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party"!
Chiang Kai-shek agreed to "unite with our party to resist Japan" and incorporate our party's armed forces, just like in "Water Margin", it is said that the imperial court will co-opt Song Jiang and fight Fangla, and you will be organized into a unit, and then go to the front line Japanese planes and artillery to destroy you.
Therefore, the chairman published a series of theoretical works-for-tat, explaining the characteristics of the War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and establishing various organs, first the Central Special Committee, later the Central Social Department, and later a part of it to the army, which became the Intelligence Department of the Central Military Commission, which was the highest organ of the central command of the hidden front at that time.
