Chapter 3: Monsters in the Woods

Gran had heard of lizards that ate excrement,

But even if he can earn hundreds of evolution points, Gran is not willing to let go of his reserve to taste this.

Now he's just a long way away from this foul-smelling thing.

But he still managed to approach the excrement, not because he wanted to taste it, but because he thought that it was probably a monster that could threaten his life.

The lump looked cold, more than several times the size of Glen, and there were some white broken bones mixed in it.

.

Gran skirted the excrement and cautiously explored.

The grass in front of the excrement left the footprints of monsters, which looked like maple leaves.

He judged from the footprints that the monster was large and very heavy.

In front of the footprints, there are several broken trees, and there are also monster footprints next to the trees, which are estimated to have been broken by it, for unknown reasons.

A huge monster with great power, and judging by the shape of its footprints... Maybe it's a dragon.

Gran felt his heart jump out of his nervous heart, and if he hadn't made sure the monster was gone, his lizard heart might have been

Directly here stagnate forever.

He had mixed feelings in his heart, and he thought that this forest was relatively safe, and at most there were only those pterosaurs.

Only now did I discover the existence of such a monster, which was much more terrifying than the pterodactyl.

And this monster is definitely a meat eater, and it is impossible for him to have a gentle personality.

He felt that a monster could trample himself to pieces with a single kick... No, just grind it into a meat puree.

So Gran gave up on exploring, and if he explored again, he might find the monster's mouth directly.

He turned away from the place and rolled on the dirt as soon as he did.

This time, he didn't think about whether he could really cover up the smell, he just felt a little reassured.

Then climb back as fast as you can, until you don't have much strength left.

Then he immediately found a hidden spot to dig a crypt and crawled in to hide himself.

Gran stayed in the crypt, remembering where he had found the monster, and vowed never to approach that area again.

.

It took him a lot of time to get his mental state right, and by that time it was completely dark.

Night covers the sky,

Gran couldn't help but crawl out of the crypt and onto the grass and look at the sky.

Countless stars exude their own brilliant light in the night sky, and there are two bright moons hanging at both ends of the night sky, one red and one blue, magnificent and evil.

This is a night scene that is unfamiliar to Glen.

He looked at the night scene and told himself that he could not be swallowed up by despair and confusion, and that if he stood still, the only thing that awaited him was death.

At this time, Gran found that the body's night vision was not bad, and he could do something at night.

But he was physically and mentally exhausted, and now he just wanted to rest.

He slept on the dirt and spent his first night in this world.

.

The next morning,

Gran crawls out of the crypt to begin today's exploration.

The dew on the blades of grass had not yet evaporated, and Gran licked the dew with his tongue to replenish the moisture.

After replenishing water, I began to look for food to satisfy my hunger.

After discovering the traces of the monster yesterday, Gran was a little suspicious.

He was always afraid that monsters would come out of the bushes or shade and crush him to death.

A few small birds can scare Gran for a long time, digging a burrow on the spot and burrowing into it.

Wait until there is no movement, and then dare to poke your little head out of the crypt.

At the end of the morning, there was not much food, and the technique of digging holes improved rapidly.

The food I found was all mosquitoes, so I couldn't feed my stomach, and I only got 9 evolution points.

Although this body is very small, the amount of food is much larger than expected.

Gran continues to explore the woods and discovers something strange.

It's a wreckage that looks a little scary.

The skeleton shattered into several pieces, and the flesh and entrails were almost all pureed and began to rot.

It was only discernible from the large boar head next to the flesh that was blurred with blood and flesh that it was the carcass of a strong boar.

Many flies flew over the corpses, making buzzing sounds.

The little blackbird jumped around on the skeleton, poking at the remnants of the flesh.

The boar's head's festering, hollow eye sockets were right on Gran, startling him.

He stared at the corpse in great shock.

It's impossible for a wild boar to fall and make itself look like this, something must have happened in this place.

Gran mustered up the courage to circle around the corpse, only to find a few large shallow footprints.

The footprints looked familiar, both in size and shape, very similar to the monster footprints he had found yesterday.

The monster has been here, and this boar carcass is what it left behind, probably after eating.

Gran was a little dizzy, he didn't expect to meet the monster so soon, and he didn't know when the monster would come back to continue eating.

He turned his head to observe the blackbirds and flying insects perched on the corpses, and on second thought, he realized that the corpses had begun to decompose, and the monster was unlikely to return.

The smell of blood wafted into his nostrils, stimulating Gran's thoughts.

Hunger was seduced, followed by greed and recklessness, and the lizard-body's instincts were urging him to eat the corpse.

The human concept makes Gran resist scavenging, but the food itself is not easy to come by, and it can satisfy his appetite, and I am afraid that it can also bring a lot of evolution points.

Unconsciously, Gran took a few steps towards the corpse.

I was worried about whether the corpse would carry the disease, and maybe the monster abandoned it here because of that.

Gran stares at the flesh-pecking blackbirds, giving the illusion that they are eating very happily.

The hunger pangs became so intense that his mind was in a trance, and he crawled towards the corpse step by step.

And then...

The sight of maggots wriggling on the rotten and foul-smelling flesh appeared before his eyes.

This was followed by visions of his own poisoning and death after eating carrion.

He stopped.

Prudence, or rather, timidity, temporarily defeated Gran's greed.

He didn't dare to bet on whether he could eat the carrion, many lizards could eat scavenging, but not all of them.

Human perception always tells him that scavenging is dangerous, and wanting to give up being reserved does not mean that he can really give up.

Gran has always been a lizard with human memories, not a small beast that can easily gnaw on carrion.

He turned, crawling in the other direction without looking back, fearing that greed would induce him to eat the corpses again if he stopped.

It wasn't until he felt tired that Gran stopped.

Smearing dirt to mask the smell and digging a burrow to hide himself has become an act that can reassure him.

He couldn't remember how to get back to the corpse, and it was useless to be greedy again, let alone wonder if the corpse had any disease.

After stopping, Gran noticed a new panel in the system.

'Taskbar',

Another way to acquire talent.

There is only one quest in it, called scavenging, and the task requires eating a certain amount of scavenging corpses to be able to obtain scavenging (R-level talent) and a small amount of evolution points.

The convention didn't seem to be explained, but Gran didn't want to understand it, so he didn't do the task.

It's okay to say it's willful, anyway, he just doesn't want to do it now, and would rather eat other flying insects.

However, the appearance of the taskbar calms him down a lot, and the quests are also triggered by his actions.

Alas, if only there had been a task of digging a pit or smearing mud on his body, he would never resist, and he was in high spirits.

Gran stayed in the crypt and opened the taskbar, humbly imagining.

After half a minute, he felt that he couldn't go on like this, and that he had to improve himself immediately.

He plans to find some more insects to fill his stomach, then use those evolution points to draw talents, and then try his first 'evolution'.

Gran came into the woods again, frightened by the boar carcass, and now very wary of everything.

The sound of the wind rustling through the leaves sent chills down Gran's body.

The speed of each claw becomes slow when crawling, and you dare to take the next paw only after you feel that you have stepped on it.

A bird flying away from a branch can make him tremble, and he uses more and more sophisticated burrowing skills.

Gran walked through the woods until he saw a small pterosaur perched on the trunk of a tree.

And the little pterosaur was holding a living lizard in its mouth.
