Chapter 8: Something Worse Than Annihilation
At this moment when the deep memory was touched, Kane finally knew what those beings were that were encroaching on him!
I also know how to resist it!
He had a reason why he couldn't back down - once the Void got these memories, the Void would find his world through these.
Dissolve all things.
Annihilate everything.
So even if he was destroyed a thousand times, ten thousand times, he would not hand over this memory.
Even if it's just a house number, it won't be handed over.
So, he rebelled!
Resist with all your heart, every cell begins to resist!
He began to fabricate memories and pretend to be invincible, but in fact he offered to give them, intimidating the void with unproven hypotheses, or facts that were far away from the universe.
Nothing is more terrible than annihilation, and if there is, it must be more complete annihilation.
It was a universe on the verge of destruction, collapsing, everything being squeezed, and finally being reduced to a singularity.
This is not the same as the annihilation of the Void, which will leave "emptiness" behind it.
And this annihilation, what is left is only "nothing".
Time and space are gone, and even the concept of hunger is gone.
Then, a new round of creation began.
The Big Bang, all things are springing up, and the speed of the void devouring is far less than the expansion of the universe.
In the end, after devouring less than one billionth of cosmic matter, it ended this cycle with a great collapse.
For countless billions of years, the Void has been doing useless work. No matter how much is annihilated, it will eventually be created back.
Moreover, the existence of the void is not a universal law of physics, maybe it will be erased by zero without warning in a certain reincarnation of the universe.
Such a great terror made the void that did not know what fear was, and in the invisible fierce struggle, the void disappeared without a trace in an instant, as if it were a cowardice.
Or maybe they just hide in a dark corner and come back again after eons of preparation.
The winner finally dominated the body, and Kane staggered to his feet in the tunnel.
This victory was not easy to come by, but even if it did, there were parts of his body that had been changed forever.
In the darkness, one of Kane's eyes flashed with an eerie purple light, and black and white were no longer distinguishable.
He saw colors that should not exist in nature, a world that was unknown before, a world under another kind of vision.
He began to recall, to find out if his memory was missing. But after some hard thinking and meditation, he found that not only was there nothing missing in his mind, but there was also something more......
Those points of light, in patches, were distributed in three-dimensional space, and he knew that these were ethereal insect swarms distributed in different areas. Now he can find them exactly if he wants to.
The Void Energy seems to have developed his brain, allowing Kane to evolve some sort of sentience.
Similar to radar...... Space radar for sensing the energy of the Void.
He stepped on something hard, and when he looked down, it was a dagger stained with purple blood.
Judging by the viscosity of the blood, this is not an ethereal bodily fluid, but more like human blood.
"It's Kesha's blood...... Make me like this? He touched the unfrozen droplets of blood on his face and muttered.
This ability seems to be not bad, at least it can make him sense the danger in time.
Keisha hunted him for scouting, and with a clear division of labor, their future in the underworld no longer seemed so hopeless.
Keisha?
By the way, what about Keisha?
Kane looked left and right and realized that he was the only one left in the tunnel, and the spear was gone.
I vaguely remember what Keisha said she wanted to do when she was unconscious.
Kane uttered something wrong, using his new abilities to sense Keisha in a rusty way, and soon noticed an isolated spot nearby that was trying to approach one of the ethereal groups.
And his intuition told him that this point of light represented Keisha.
"This stupid girl!" Kane cursed, grabbed his dagger and ran.
……
The pins and needles in the flesh were stronger, and Keisha gritted her teeth to resist the pain.
Evil purple light illuminated the dark cavern, and she found an ethereal spirit perched on a jutting rock, facing away from her at the end of her vision.
I didn't see any other monsters yet. Great.
Keisha gripped the spear with both hands, and the cat paced quickly.
She's going to assassinate the ethereal spirit and bring the heart back to Kane. And the action has to be fast, Kane can't hold it anymore.
There was a daunting stench in the air, but that didn't deter the intrepid Kaisha.
She thought she was as swift as a Shakar bandit, rushing towards her prey at a terrifying speed.
In fact, she is like a kitten hunting for the first time, she does not judge the situation, nor does she rely on natural cover to make a roundabout, but approaches straight and quietly.
Focusing on her prey, she didn't notice the gravel under her feet and accidentally kicked it away as she moved. The rocks rolled on the rocky ground with a clattering sound.
Startled by her own movements, Keisha sped up to speed up, trying to pierce the Ethereal's heart before it could react.
But it was too late, and the ethereal spirit turned in an instant, and the spear pierced into its topmost eye.
Didn't get to the heart!
And to make matters worse, the ethereal spirit in front of him is not acting alone.
Behind the rocks it perched on were a horde of ugly kinders, and it was only one of the most marginal members of the group.
Their eyes and throats shone with a hazy and warm purple light, like swaying flowers on the banks of a dark river.
Invite death.
The spear in his hand began to tug at his palm, and the tremendous force pulled Keisha back from her fear.
The impaled ethereal spirit was not dead, twisting its head and dragging her towards the abyss of hunger, the shaft of the spear emitting a terrifying wail, as if it might be broken in it at any moment.
Keisha resisted and drew her spear back, and a purple-black wave spread to her side.
Finally, she drew her spear and began to run back, but the large group of ethereal spirits had already rushed to her side with malicious intent.
A ethereal spirit as large as a camel snaked its way, its bladed limbs stabbing into the ground at a rapid pace, three clusters of glowing eyes blazing, and the bladed feet of shattering rocks stabbed Keisha in the back as if to nail her to the ground.
In a desperate situation, Keisha turned around and raised her hand to block with her arm, and part of the carapace was shattered by the blade foot, turning into a cloud of black smoke and gradually dissipating.
Keisha was thrown out without question, and fell down hard, her head bleeding.
The smell of blood spread, and the other monsters suddenly quickened their pace, trying to eat the delicious flesh.
When she looked up, the wave of hunger had overwhelmed her, and the raised bladefoot and the bloody jaws that tore her throat apart were ready to tear her apart.
But at this moment, her arm armor, which had been tense like a strong bow, suddenly relaxed, no longer bringing pins and needles, but transmitting another strange feeling to her.
Soothing, serenity, burnout......
It's like dreaming.
And the ethereal spirits around them seemed to suffer the same feeling, and the fierce light in their eyes was dull, as if they had fallen into a dream.
Then, the wave of hunger sleepwalked across a path behind her, and a figure walked towards her in a flickering purple light.
