Academically speaking, pre-Qin Confucianism advocated "respecting the king and destroying the Yi" and "strictly destroying the defense of Xia", and the main criterion for Yi and Xia was culture, not race.
In the Southern Song Dynasty, the country was in a state of weakness and was bullied by foreigners, and a small number of scholars, such as Chen Liang and others, began to think that "China" was the Han people, and had a strong rejection of Yidi. However, this notion is not popular. The remnants of the Song Dynasty are mainly due to loyalty to the monarch, not to the exclusion.
After entering the Yuan Dynasty, Confucianism no longer talked about "the defense of Yixia", but focused on "using Xia to change Yi". "If you can do the way of China, you will also be the master of China." In other words, Yidi can be practiced in Han law, then, they are recognized as orthodox dynasties. The Yuan Dynasty had already followed the Chinese way, so it could be orthodox.

This history book, Meng Yuan has long wanted to repair, but there is a question, the Song, Liao, and Jin dynasties, who is "orthodox", in other words, whose Taoism did Meng Yuan inherit? Some are orthodox in Song, and some are orthodox in Liao and Jin, at least along with Song as orthodox. The various points of view are not well debated and stagnant, so the decision is delayed.
When it comes to the history of detachment, after all, the Mongolian people are similar to Liao and Jin, they are all Rong Di, and it is unreasonable for Liao and Jin to be orthodox. And the Han people care very much about this orthodoxy, and they can't help but take the Song Dynasty as orthodoxy. As a result, he adopted a compromise viewpoint, with the Song, Liao, and Jin each as orthodox and not subordinate to each other. At this point, the tone of history revision was set.
At that time, there were two well-known Han people, one was named Wei Su and the other was Yang Weizhen. The two of them, one in favor of and the other against, wrote their own views on the orthodoxy adopted by Tokhtar, and they set out their personal views.
Wei Su said: "This dynasty was founded before the Song and Jin dynasties, and there was a country instead of the Song and Jin dynasties. He believed that Meng Yuan was not inherited from the Song and Jin, so he became orthodox. Yuan destroyed the Song Dynasty and replaced it, just like the Tang Dynasty destroyed the Sui Dynasty and the Song Dynasty destroyed the Zhou Dynasty. Needless to say, this is a matter of course.
Yang Weizhen said: "The difference between the clutches of the past dynasties is fixed on the changes of the prosperity and decline of the days, and the unity of the 10,000-year leap is really out of the people's hearts. He believes that whether it is "orthodox" or not depends not entirely on the length of rule, the size of the region, the strength of the strength, and the correctness of the rank, but on the "justice of heaven and people's hearts."
He objected to the orthodoxy of Liao and Jin, and that "Taoism was not in Liao and Jin but in Song."
He believes that the Yuan Dynasty should inherit the orthodoxy from the two Song dynasties, not from the Liaojin Dynasty, nor should it become orthodox on its own. This concept of his is the view of a more orthodox Han scholar, but neither Wei Su nor he objected to the fact that Meng Yuan was not orthodox. What they are arguing about is nothing more than Liaojin's orthodoxy.
Meng Yuan is orthodox, and Xiao Ming Wang, Xu Shouhui and other heroes are natural rebels. Therefore, since the current Yuan Emperor reopened the imperial examination, even if every time the north and south are on the list, there are only a handful of Han people on the list. But once they heard the news, they still flocked to it.

Jin Taizu broke the Liao Ke Song Dynasty, and the emperor had the Central Plains for more than 100 years, which should be the history of the north. Since the establishment of Yan, China is not owned by the Song Dynasty, and it should be the history of the South. This is to advocate that each of the three dynasties should be orthodox and that the history of the three dynasties should be compiled in imitation of the history of the north and the south.
