Chapter IX: Reconnaissance Operations (4)
PS: I overslept last night, sorry, this chapter is made up for yesterday. Another: After reinstalling the system, I found that I couldn't reply to the reader's message at the starting point, and I would like to express my gratitude to the old reward and the book friends who gave recommended tickets and monthly passes.
The battle of the Lao Cai ammunition depot made a name for itself as a scout of our army.
This may not be a particularly classic special operation for Vietnamese agents, after all, there is some trickery in the success of this time...... It was built on the basis that most of our army's reconnaissance operations were confined to the front line, and the Vietnamese troops on the second and third lines were less vigilant.
Obviously, this method can be used once or twice, and the third time is not effective, and the Vietnamese army only needs to strictly order the logistics troops not to remove the ammunition from the car under any circumstances, and if the ammunition is to be removed from the car under special circumstances, it must be carried by the escort team throughout the whole process.
But then again, things on the battlefield, especially special operations, are actually trying in every possible way to find the enemy's loopholes, and as long as they can inflict losses on the enemy, it will be a successful special operation. In particular, this is the first time that our army has carried out a special operation in depth across the border...... This was a process of starting from scratch, and as soon as it came up, it blew up an important arsenal of the Vietnamese army, so it shocked the Vietnamese military at once.
It is said that this arsenal in Lao Cai is enough to support the Vietnamese army's front line for a month's ammunition and supplies, and this is not long after we have fought the Lao Son reconquest campaign...... The battle to recover Lao Son consumed a lot of ammunition of the Vietnamese army, and if this special operation had been launched before, the results would definitely be even greater, and even directly affect the combat effectiveness of the Vietnamese army in the Lao Son area.
It's a pity that now the Battle of Laoshan has ended. And our army has no intention of pushing the front forward again. Therefore, the effect that can be achieved by this special operation is to increase the pressure on the logistics of the Vietnamese devils and make the Vietnamese army uncomfortable for a period of time.
Of course, Senior Commander Jiang would not let go of such a good opportunity.
After learning that our army successfully blew up the important arsenal of the Vietnamese army in Lao Cai. The infantry led by Division Commander Jiang immediately began to cooperate accordingly.
From the very beginning, our country has declared to the whole world that it will not occupy an inch of Vietnam's land, and the reason why we are now launching a battle to regain a certain heights is because international law stipulates that troops cannot be stationed within a few kilometers of the border, but the Vietnamese army has ignored this provision and openly grabbed the cavalry point.
China has always been a late striker militarily, and since Vietnam has done this, then don't blame our army for fighting back.
However, it is inconvenient to push the front forward after hitting the cavalry point, and this is not just a military problem. Many foreign journalists are focused on the Sino-Vietnamese border, so there is a good chance that this will turn into a political issue.
However, the front cannot move forward, and it is still possible to scare the devils.
After our army blew up the Lao Cai arsenal, Division Commander Jiang called me as soon as possible.
"Did you do the famous hall of the old street?"
"Yes!" I replied.
"Why didn't you say it earlier?!" Senior Jiang said with some annoyance: "Next time, there is such a good thing to say first, do you understand?!" ”
I couldn't help but be stunned when I heard this, you must know that this is a special operation, on the one hand, the fewer people who know, the better, on the other hand, even if the infantry knows, what can they do? There was no order from the higher authorities who dared to let the troops cross the border.
Later I found out that it was really useful.
After Senior Commander Jiang hung up the phone, he immediately got busy.
First of all, he ordered the artillery to fire a cannon in the direction of the Vietnamese army, and then the radio was turned on, and the telephone was screamed indiscriminately and telegrams were sent in piles. At the same time, the troops also carried out frequent dispatches......
Of course, this is just a show, and these actions are quite easy for our army. It's just a bunch of meaningless telegrams or a rush for the troops.
But these are not seen by the Vietnamese army.
You must know that since the 79-year self-defense and counter-attack war of our army, the Vietnamese army has always been a frightened bird, for fear that when the Chinese army will engage in such a "counterattack war" again.
In other words, this is actually a good way, just like there was an example in World War II, because the Allies would be unfamiliar with the terrain and poor geographical conditions after going deep into the German defense line, so they thought of a way to concentrate firepower on a military important place of the German army and deliberately did not take it, so that the German army continued to mobilize troops to reinforce it, and finally led the German army to be annihilated in large numbers and the defense was weak and the Allies broke through.
In fact, this method can also be used to deal with the Vietnamese army...... The geographical conditions in Vietnam are harsh, and if we don't take advantage of the deployment of large troops, then we can fight on the border, just like now, most of the Vietnamese army's vital forces are concentrated on the border, if China really wants to destroy Vietnam, how many times will Vietnam go in and out on the border, Vietnam is afraid that even young people, including women, will not be found, and Vietnam will not be in our pocket at that time?
Perhaps the Vietnamese army also took this into account, so as soon as the 40th Division of Commander Jiang made a move, he shouted to his superiors in shock: "The Chinese soldiers are going to attack, ask for reinforcements, ask for reinforcements!" ”
Needless to say, the Vietnamese army transferred the Third Division, also known as the "Venus Division," which was originally guarding the capital Hanoi, and at the same time launched a nationwide mobilization to transport ammunition to Lao Cai by various means of transport.
This is also the effect that Master Jiang wants...... Although this may seem meaningless on the surface, in fact, it has caused confusion among the Vietnamese army and affected their morale, and at the same time, the nationwide mobilization of ammunition to Lao Cai will also have a considerable negative impact on the people's livelihood and order in Vietnam.
From this, I also learned that special operations are likely to affect the whole body, especially if they blow up an important arsenal in Lao Cai. Therefore, if there are similar operations in the future, it is really necessary to inform the front-line troops so that they can make the necessary preparations.
Then the reconnaissance brigade went out in all directions, infiltrating the Vietnamese defense line from all directions to carry out special operations.
The targets of the special operation range from the Vietnamese army's outposts and garrison points to the artillery positions, command headquarters, and ammunition depots, and this kind of reconnaissance operations is gradually developing into a long-term nature.
The so-called "permanence" refers to the gradual increase in the length of time that scouts live in Vietnam...... At first it was a few days, then a dozen or even dozens of days.
It was normal for the scouts to have this change, and at first the scouts didn't know if they would be able to blend in with the Vietnamese and mingle with them, so they came back every few days after completing a mission, and then went out after a period of rest.
But it soon became clear that it was inefficient and more dangerous to do so.
Just like Xu Liangbin said: "In terms of efficiency, most of our time is spent going back and forth to the enemy's border, and the tasks we can accomplish are very limited. In terms of danger, the vigilance of the Vietnamese army on the border line is quite high, and the deeper we go, the lower the vigilance, and there is no doubt that our frequent travel to and from the border will be more dangerous. ”
Xu Liangbin's analysis is of course reasonable, because more than 90 percent of the more than 20 scouts killed or injured during this period were found by the Vietnamese army when they were traveling to and from the border, accidentally touched a mine, and were wounded or killed.
Naturally, reconnaissance operations soon became more long-term...... The reconnaissance detachment brought as many supplies as possible, and was required to infiltrate the Vietnamese defense line in order to be able to persist in fighting for 10 days and complete multiple tasks.
In fact, the ten-day time limit was quickly broken by the reconnaissance detachment.
The reason why the reconnaissance unit is limited to "ten days" is because it almost reaches the upper limit of the supplies that the reconnaissance detachment can carry, and this is the result of the use of "scout food", that is, flexible packaged food, in the reconnaissance detachment.
But surprisingly, the scouts got along very well with the Vietnamese army or the Vietnamese people, which made it possible for them to often get food from the people, and there were even cases where a reconnaissance detachment generously marched into the Vietnamese army after running out of ammunition to ask for supplies...... It's also a bit ridiculous to say that hitting the enemy with the enemy's supplies is like the guerrilla song that says, "The enemy of one's own is sent forward."
When I asked Xu Liangbin and the others why they were so bold, Xu Liangbin scratched his head and replied, "Actually...... It's not that we're bold, and this may be attributed to the battalion commander, who made us live completely according to the standards of the Yue Devils, so that we were able to quickly integrate into the lives of the Yue Devils, and sometimes...... We all have the illusion that we are Vietnamese. ”
I couldn't help but laugh when I heard this, Xu Liangbin was right, if even they believed that they were Vietnamese, then it would be normal to ask the Vietnamese people and soldiers for supplies.
"It's just...... There was one thing we couldn't get used to. ”
"Which point?" I asked.
"That's ......" Xu Liangbin said with a red face: "Vietnamese women always pull us ......"
"Oh!" Although Xu Liangbin didn't finish speaking, I understood.
This is a very normal thing in Vietnam, the men have gone to the battlefield to fight, and the remaining men in the village are all old, weak, sick and disabled, and the woman occasionally sees a few "Vietnamese soldiers" entering the village...... It's strange if you don't have a light in your eyes.
However, this is absolutely not possible in our country, especially now when it is still the time to strike hard, this is the "crime of hooliganism", and it is necessary to be shot.
So I thought, if the more devils know this, then they only need to find a few women to tempt them to know which Chinese agents are.
To my amazement, a scout was able to live in Vietnam for 46 days in a row. In the past 46 days, he successively reported the enemy situation to our command post 64 times, photographed one enemy garrison point, two observation posts, an ammunition depot, and three artillery positions with his camera, and indicated accurate targets for our artillery.
********
I would like to use this chapter to pay tribute to the reconnaissance hero Long Zhiyong, who, together with his comrades-in-arms, has carried out more than 120 missions such as reconnaissance behind enemy lines, capturing prisoners, and counterattacking the Vietnamese army, including a reconnaissance mission behind enemy lines that lasted for 46 days. His superiors have awarded him three first-class merits, four third-class merits, and 18 commendations, and he has been awarded the titles of "Frontier Hero", "New Long March Assaulter", and "Reconnaissance Hero". (To be continued......)
