Chapter VI: Cooperative Hunting
"Reach out, which hand?"
Keisha looked at Kane in confusion, her unmutated hand tightly around him, as if she was afraid that he would run away.
"The one you don't like."
"Oh."
Keisha held out her hand hesitantly, not quite wanting to show Kane what she thought was ugly.
He turned the dagger over and struck it on the armor, and it was as hard as steel.
He didn't reach for it, but the lines like moth's scales could be seen to be smooth and rough to the touch.
Then, he moved the dagger to his left arm and slashed it in the parallel direction of the artery.
Strangely, although the movements were large, he did not feel much pain. If the arm hadn't been attached to him, he would have even thought it wasn't his own.
Keisha was stunned, but Kane didn't care what happened to her. Black blood gradually flowed from the wound, and Kane pulled her arm directly, using the nail shard on her hand to hold the black blood dripping from her arm.
Amazingly, the black blood dripped onto the armor and was immediately absorbed greedily, leaving no trace of blood.
It's like water is absorbed by a sponge, and Kaisha, who lives in the Gobi, has never seen a sponge in her life, but even if she does, she will still feel that the scene in front of her is very weird.
It's just a monster.
"Now you know, you can rely on this layer of armor to 'eat' food, and it is also your armor and weapon, which is indispensable if you want to survive here."
Kane explained bitterly, and Keisha nodded sincerely, but she still felt that Kane didn't have to do this to herself, but the latter didn't want to discuss it anymore.
When the bleeding had stopped, Kane said to Kesha, "Let's go find the monster now, let's say first, if it pounces, you will use the carapace to block the monster's attack, and I will take the opportunity to kill it with a spear." I want its heart and belly, and with that maybe I'll survive. ”
Kane could feel that his body was getting weaker and weaker, and even after eating some food, he couldn't replenish much energy.
He had to pick up his speed and make another attempt before he was completely incapacitated.
"I see." Keisha clenched her fists.
In order to save Kane, she is fearless.
Together, the two of them returned the same way they came, back to the place where they had fallen.
At the exit of the tunnel, they saw a squirming purple light.
Sure enough, it had been overrun by a large group of void creatures.
"Too many!" Keisha, who was secretly observing, shook her head, how could the two children kill them in the swarm and bring back the heart of the carapace?
"Use this." Kane handed over a peach pit.
Keisha was lying on the rocky floor, her head exposed, her bright eyes roaming the swarm, observing what she was about to face.
The void creatures in front of him were called ethereals by Kane, and their size was generally only the size of a magic fight, and the one who attacked Kaisha first was an exception, and her size was almost the same as her.
After a little certainty, Keisha threw the peach pit with all her might.
The peach pit arced in the darkness and landed on the skull of an ethereal spirit.
"Boom!"
A crisp sound sounded rare and pleasant, but it made the two children extremely nervous.
The other ethereals heard the sound, turned and glanced at the three arcs of their flooded eyes, and then didn't move again.
The ethereal spirit that was smashed into the skull turned towards the source of the attack due to the tactile feedback.
It stared at the mouth of the tunnel, its narrow eyes filled with infinite malice.
The visual makeup of ethereals is very different from that of ordinary creatures, and they do not need light to see. They can perceive colours, contrasts, and shades that do not exist in nature, and they can detect any changes or anomalies in a patch of color.
Suddenly, a head popped out, and after a brief moment of looking at each other, it immediately retracted.
The ethereal spirit noticed the black dots that flashed in its field of vision, and immediately took sharp steps and crawled towards the tunnel.
They act without hesitation, they don't even have to think, their insatiable hunger dictates all their actions, so their logic is as simple as it gets.
Discover life!
Devour Transformation!
Annihilate everything!
Remember, don't expect anything from the Void, it will only respond to you with glowing fangs and filthy saliva.
"It's coming!"
Keisha quickly stood up, half-crouched around the corner of the tunnel.
"According to the plan, wait for it to strike first."
Kane, on the other hand, holds the spear tightly with his right hand, wrapping the shaft tightly around his wrist, arm and armpit, which is the only way to ensure maximum accuracy and strength in the case of one hand.
Specks of purple light from the heart moved rapidly across the dimly lit tunnel ceiling, revealing the location of the ethereal spirit. Seeing the light spot getting closer and closer, Keisha was extremely nervous, and her legs trembled.
She could have run, but she couldn't. Behind her is the only person she cherishes in this world, and she can't afford to lose it anymore!
The void meanders and crawls, appearing around the corner and striking with unbelievable speed!
Doesn't it take a moment to lock onto the target?
With that in mind, Keisha gave it her all out, her left arm across to block the air-piercing bladefoot, one leg back to support the ground.
The sharp blade foot slammed into Keisha's armor, leaving a deep nick, but it didn't pierce it.
Keisha's fighting talent was on full display at this moment, this ethereal spirit was far inferior to the one left for her, Keisha resisted the impact and was not knocked down, but pushed it back with all her strength!
The ethereal spirit smashed and rolled down the rock wall, just swinging its blade foot in the sky and not being able to turn over, revealing a miserable white belly armor that was softer than the others, and a cartilage-wrapped heart that faintly revealed purple light in it.
"Ness!"
Kane squeezed a roar between his teeth, seized the perfect opportunity created by Keisha, and took two steps forward and stabbed his spear into the heart!
"Poof!"
With a sharp puncture sound, everything settled.
The heart is the only weakness of these brainless void creatures, and if they don't attack their energy core, they can repair themselves, or even harden and strengthen them, even if the other parts are completely destroyed.
Kane knew this well, so he chose to pick up a sharp weapon like a spear in the ruins, rather than a better scythe or something.
If that were the case, he might be able to cut through the ethereal carapace by now, let alone hurt the roots.
The moment the heart is pierced, the lifeline of the ethereal spirit is completely cut off, and no matter how violent the previous moment is, it will die violently in an instant.
The ethereal spirit in front of him didn't struggle for the halfest, and his motionless appearance was much more "cute" than when he was alive.
Kane drew his spear and propped it up on the ground, leaning on his spear and resting.
Before she knew it, Keisha had made Kane her backbone. And the stab just now seemed to consume too much of his physical strength, and he gasped for a while before he said weakly to Keisha, who was full of worry and waiting for instructions:
"Let's do it right here, gouge out my heart and give it to me in my belly."
