Chapter Twenty-Seven: Merlin's Secret
"This is what my father left behind...... It used to be the father's thing. ”
Harry felt like the cloak was running through his fingers, it was more delicate and light than silk, barely weightless.
"Use it well" - remember what the note said.
He couldn't help but slip out of bed and draped the lightweight invisibility cloak over his body. When he looked down, he could only see the moonlight falling on the ground in the darkness.
"Good use?" Harry couldn't help but think again.
Yes, exactly! Suddenly, Harry's mind was clear - put it on, and the whole of Hogwarts was completely open to him!
He stood in the darkness, silent all around, and he felt a sudden rush of excitement in his heart.
With this cloak of invisibility, he can go anywhere, anywhere! Filch will never find him.
Ron on the bed next to him muttered something in his sleep, and Harry turned his head to look at him. Do you want to wake him up? No, it was an invisibility cloak that his father had left for him - he felt that at least for the first time, he should use it alone.
He wanted to understand if his father had ever been wrapped in this invisibility cloak and explored around the huge Hogwarts castle alone.
Thinking of this, Harry couldn't help but reach out and put the hood on his invisibility cloak. He crept out of the dorm room, down the stairs, through the common room, and over the portrait hole.
"Who is it?" The fat woman in the painting asked in a daze.
Harry didn't say anything, he walked down the hallway as fast as he could, trying not to make any sound.
Hogwarts in the middle of the night is very different from the daytime, with a unique sense of mystery in the depth, which makes Harry who grew up in a Muggle world feel like he has stepped into a castle in a magical story.
He couldn't help but laugh when he thought about it, isn't this a magic castle? Although it was not the first time he had walked in the corridors of Hogwarts at night, when he wore the invisibility cloak, he found that it was a completely different feeling.
He calmly observes all the details as far as his eye can see, and he is not afraid of being discovered by Filch, who patrols the night.
"Where can I go?" He stopped, thinking, until his heart was pounding.
Suddenly, he remembered - the forbidden section of the library! He could read as much as he could, until he figured out what Le May was sacred.
Harry wrapped the cloak of invisibility around him tightly again before stepping forward.
The library was pitch black, and it was almost impossible to see anything inside, making it even more eerie than during the day.
Harry had to exit to make sure Filch wasn't outside, before lighting a lamp and carrying it past the rows of bookshelves. The lamp looked like it was floating in mid-air, and although Harry felt like he was holding it in his hand, the sight still creeped the hearts of the originator.
The forbidden book area is in the deepest part of the library. Harry cautiously stepped over the rope that lay halfway around his waist and held up the lamp to check the title.
However, he didn't have a clue from the title of the book.
The peeling, faded, gilded letters spelled out words Harry couldn't understand. And some books don't even have titles at all.
There was a book with a dark stain on it. It looked a lot like bloodstains, which made Harry feel terrible.
Harry stood between the bookshelves, feeling the hairs on the back of his neck stand on end. He felt a whisper coming from the books, as if the books knew that someone who wasn't supposed to be standing here was watching them snuckly.
It may be his hallucination, or it doesn't.
Harry felt he had to start somewhere, he couldn't afford to be stunned.
So, he carefully placed the lamp on the floor and looked down the bottom of the bookshelf for a book that looked interesting.
He suddenly saw a striking silver-gray book clipped tightly next to a large book with a dark green spine. The book wasn't very heavy, and Harry pulled it open.
Suddenly, a blue and green light flashed on the pages, and they clattered on their own.
Harry hurriedly held them down to stop making any more noise. But the next moment, he saw several lines written on the edge of the page. He was familiar with the fonts—they were almost identical to the Occlumency notebook that Maca had given him.
This is Maca's handwriting! He's been here before, and he's made some notes on it.
This is a forbidden area! How did Maca get in? Could it be that he also has a way to be invisible? On his own, Harry guessed the correct answer almost instantly.
He tried to understand what Maka had come here to do through the notes she had left behind.
Unfortunately, Harry found that these lines took each word apart, and he knew it all; But if it's a synthesized sentence, it becomes completely unrecognizable.
He flipped through the pages a few more times, and finally had to slip it back onto the bookshelf with a look of disappointment.
Suddenly, the large, thick dark green book next to him was accidentally rubbed crooked by him - this book looked too huge, and it was forcibly clipped to the bookshelf by the book next to it.
Harry was startled to see that the book was about to fall. If it falls to the ground, I'm afraid it will completely break the silence around it!
He scrambled up, trying to pick up the large, heavy book in his hand—
"Hmm." Harry couldn't help but moan.
Thankfully, although the back of his hand ached from hitting the hard floor, at least it didn't make any noticeable sounds.
After calming down a bit, Harry looked at the large book in his hand, which had a dark green rough cover and was surprisingly heavy. This made Harry deeply curious about it.
He carefully flipped open the cover and found that every page of the book was made of a tight, delicate bark!
The edges of the pages are slightly yellowed, but it can be seen that they should have been off-white. Some of the parts of it contained the experiment log were so straightforward that even Harry could see what it was talking about.
"Modifying the bloodline of a man? The bloodlines of all kinds of magical creatures? ”
Frightened by the misshapen illustrations of human bodies inside, Harry staggered back a few steps and slammed the book shut.
On the dark green cover, its name is faintly depicted, "The Book of Druids", and in the lower right corner of the cover, the word "Merlin" is prominently written.
When it comes to Nicol Lemay, Harry may not be able to remember it for a while, but the name "Merlin" is a famous wizard that even ordinary Muggles know!
He appeared in the Muggle world, raised King Arthur, the eternal king of Celtic legend, guided him to the world-famous Sword of the Lake, and unified England in turmoil.
Today, the Order of Merlin in the wizarding world was founded by Merlin, and every wizard is thrilled to receive a medal from him, and Dumbledore has a Order of Merlin of the First Class.
What did such a great wizard write such a terrifying magic book for? Pressing down on the uneasiness in his heart, Harry turned the page again, wanting to look back.
Just then, he heard a regular sound of footsteps outside the library, was it Filch?
He hurriedly extinguished the lantern on the floor, then carefully tucked the book into its place, making sure it didn't fall off again.
Nothing has been gained yet, but he knows he has to go.
He even felt like his heart was going to beat as Filch shuffled past him with heavy steps. Harry noticed that he might still be seeing the light or something, and was looking around with a frown.
As Filch slowly walked inside, Harry quietly left the library. As he left, he glanced at the forbidden book section - he would be back.
"You should wake me up." Ron said angrily.
"You can come tonight, I want to read that book." Harry said, "It's a big secret about Merlin, and I haven't found out who Nick Lemay is!" ”
"About that big secret," Ron said, "sounds interesting, bloodline transformation?" Maybe we can become as powerful as giants! ”
"You eat some bacon or something, why don't you eat anything?"
Harry felt like he was losing his appetite. He didn't expect that there were so many secrets hidden in the forbidden book area!
What did Maca write on that book? Is Merlin really as respectable as the rumors say? Who is Nick Lemay? What exactly is that big dog guarding? And why did Snape steal it?
The growing number of things that puzzled him made him feel a little anxious.
The second time they used the cloak of invisibility, because Ron was also covered inside, it was inconvenient to move, and they walked much slower.
"It's so cold on winter nights!" Ron grumbled softly, "Why don't we look for it and go back first?" ”
"No way!" Harry said in a deep voice, "We must find out as soon as possible, who is Nicol Lemay?" Snape certainly didn't have a good idea! ”
It didn't take long for them to find themselves in the forbidden section of the library again. The two of them left Merlin's book alone and began to search for the traces of Nick Lemay.
After a long time, they found a lot of horror in those strange and dangerous forbidden books. For example, demons and temptations, and souls and death......
A lot of evil-sounding magic abounds here, but not a single word related to Nick Lemay is found.
"Looks like there's not even a book in the forbidden area!" Ron said as he shivered, and he felt like his feet were going to freeze.
In desperation, Harry opened the big dark green book again—he wanted to at least get the question clear.
