Chapter Twenty-Six: Maca's Gift Giveaway
Unlike the warmth of Lovegood's small Christmas party, there is only one word to describe the Christmas banquet at Hogwarts, and that is – magnificent!
Just over 100 shiny roast turkeys, mountains of charcoal-roasted beef and salted potatoes, large plates of delicious sausages, bowls of green peas tossed with butter, and plates of thick and fragrant meat marinade and lingonberry sauce, the sumptuous dish is mouth-watering.
Every few steps along the table, there are piles of wizard packets waiting for you. These wonderful packets were not like the shabby firecrackers that Muggle families usually buy—they contained only a few small plastic toys and very unsturdy paper hats.
Harry and Fred smoked a packet of firecrackers together, and instead of a muffled bang, it made a blast like a cannon bombardment, engulfing them all in a puff of blue smoke, and at the same time blasting out of it a rear admiral's hat, as well as a few live guinea pigs.
Dumbledore, who was the guest of honor, had changed into a lace hat that he had gotten out of nowhere, and was decorated with a cluster of brightly colored flowers. He was now immersed in Professor Flitwick's little jokes, laughing happily!
After the main meal, there is a flaming red Christmas pudding, in which some crescent-shaped silver flakes are occasionally eaten. Percy had won the lottery - he had almost broken his neat front teeth.
"Albus, look at those Christmas trees, these are the little gifts that Mr. McLean left us before leaving." Professor McGonagall patted Dumbledore's elbow lightly, and she giggled, long since lost her usual stern look.
"Oh, yes, what a nice kid." Dumbledore looked at the festive Christmas trees and nodded in delight.
Professor Flitwick echoed Professor McGonagall's words, pointing out the trinkets made by Maca to Dumbledore, apparently pleased with Maca's wonderful student.
Snape, who was sitting next to him, was still the same indifferent look on this day of celebration for all the people. He looked at the white mist of the Christmas trees, not knowing what he was thinking.
Just as everyone was in high spirits, owls flew in from outside the auditorium with various packages and scattered in all directions.
"What's wrong?"
Even the professors didn't figure out why the owl flew in at this time. Dumbledore was the only one who smiled at the scene in front of him, and there was a look of relief on his face.
It didn't take long for everyone who received the package to understand that it was a Christmas gift from Macka McKellen.
"When did he learn this trick from the Weasley brothers?" Snape said coldly, not wanting a small package to fall right in front of him.
Snape frowned, tearing open the sealed package, but looked at the contents of the elixir - it was a bottle of elixir.
Each successful preparation of the Elixir usually yields only as small a small amount as a little finger. However, the preparation process is extremely complex, and it often takes half a year to prepare on average.
Inspired by her discussions with Snape, Maca shortened the preparation time to two months, but at the cost of a drastic drop in effectiveness.
This Christmas, Maca spent a lot of gold Galleons to buy this bottle of the full effect of the elixir from her partner as a Christmas gift to Snape. It was Marca genuinely thanking Snape for his tireless guidance.
If you want to say that the gift that Maca prepared for Luna, it took the longest; Snape's gift was undoubtedly the most expensive of them all.
Snape pulled out the cork, put it to his nose and sniffed it, then silently plugged it back in.
"Severus, I'm right, right?" Dumbledore said to Snape with a smile.
Snape twitched the corners of his lips and replied with a blank face, "It's just going to cost money." ”
Not to mention the situation on the side of the guest of honor, the students below also received gifts from Maca.
Hermione, for example, was smiling and holding a cartoon lion puppet in her arms, reading a small note that Maca had left on it - the puppet had sleeping flower seeds in it, which could improve the quality of sleep and know how to rest while studying hard.
Ron gets the latest set of Wizard Chess - this is Maca's Transfiguration exercise, and unlike normal Wizard Chess, this set of Wizard Chess is a board game in which all kinds of powerful magical creatures and various wizards play together, and it looks pretty cool.
Harry, however, found that the gift he had received seemed to be the most peculiar of the three of them!
"What is this? Brain - Occlusion - Surgery? Harry looked at a notebook that had been taken out of the package and read the words on the cover word by word.
"Occlumency?" Hermione asked curiously, "What's that?" ”
Harry flipped through the contents, only to find that it was a notebook from a Maca's handwriting, and the theories recorded in it were so complex that he felt a little dizzy.
"Show me," Hermione snatched and looked through it.
While Hermione looked down at the notebook, Ron and Harry were guessing back and forth.
"What is Maca asking you to learn this...... Cerebrum...... Secretion, right? Ron said, "What is that for?" ”
Harry shook his head, how did he know what that was for? Seems to have never heard of it.
"Then do you want to learn?" Ron added, "Maca asked you to learn, that should be right." ”
It seems that Maca's previous guess was correct, and Ron simply wouldn't be angry with him for more than three days.
"Well, let's figure out what it is, shall we?" Harry said, looking at Hermione again with Ron.
After a moment, Hermione looked up, a little confused.
"According to what Maca wrote on the previous pages, this magic, called 'Occlumency,' is a defensive magic used to resist the infiltration of foreign spirits and prevent others from reading the user's mind." Hermione said, "That said, it's quite resistant to a spell called 'Regent'. ”
"But what's the use? Does anyone want to read my mind? Harry said confusedly.
"Who knows? I'm afraid this is the only way to ask Maca himself. Hermione was confused, too.
Only Ron didn't take this too seriously, he smiled and said, "Maca said that if you want to learn, then learn, he will never be wrong." ”
While the Gryffindor trio was talking about this, a student at the Slytherin table not far away received a gift from Maca.
"Blois the nerd has a part? What's going on? The little snakes were talking, but no one wanted to deal with her.
The one who received the gift was none other than the mysterious girl who had a very low presence at school - Willie Blois.
Expressionlessly, Willy unwrapped the package and took out the gift inside and laid it flat on the table. What she got was a notebook, too, and it seemed thicker, bigger, and stronger.
She opened the notebook, which recorded the botanical history, ecological distribution, cultivation methods and application value of a plant in a neat and concise style. Obviously, Maca also put a lot of thought into this gift—he re-copied a copy of his notebook and gave it to Willy.
Behind this notebook, there are still most of the vacancies, obviously so that Wei Li, who is not good at summarizing, can continue to record in this format.
Willy carefully stroked the cover of the notebook, and although there was still no emotion on her face, it was enough to make people understand that she really loved this thoughtful gift.
"Thank you." Willy's voice was so low that she probably couldn't even hear herself, but it was the first time she had said a word of thanks, but it was a pity that Maca didn't have a chance to find out.
There are too many doubts about this girl who is full of mysteries. Poor to the point of fear, scarce to confusing to speak, delicate enough to give the illusion of inhumanity, all signs indicate that there are too many secrets hidden in her, but none of them know the truth.
And this, I'm afraid, is why Maca became interested in her.
Now, for the first time, the mysterious girl has revealed a gap in her emotional expression, but Maca is still far away at Lovegood's house.
This has to be said to be a pity.
When everyone's attention returned to the table, everything just now faded away and melted into the Christmas atmosphere that was hot again.
It wasn't until everyone had a crazy afternoon after dinner that the seemingly calm but turbulent night was coming.
It was the best Christmas in Harry's life. But the incident that had always lingered in his mind and dissipated for a long time did not come back after he lay down in bed.
He was thinking about the mysterious Christmas gift early this morning, the Cloak of Invisibility, and the unknown person who gave it to him.
Christmas presents like maca are a special exception, and they are usually found by the fireplace or bedside when you wake up on Christmas Day.
Harry didn't expect to receive a gift this morning, but when he woke up, he found that he had received a lot of Christmas presents. The most surprising of these was an invisibility cloak given to him by an unsigned person.
There is a note in it, which reads: Your father left this thing for me before he died, and it should be returned to you now. Use it well and sincerely wish you a Merry Christmas.
The beautiful font looks pleasing to the eye, but the content has made Harry struggle almost all day.
By this time, Ron's belly was full of turkey and cake, and nothing strange bothered him, so he fell asleep almost as soon as he put down the curtains. The speed with which he fell asleep made Harry a little jealous.
Harry tossed and turned on the bed, eventually leaning out from the side of the bed and pulling out the cloak from under the bed.
