Chapter Twenty-Three: The Cowardly Malfoy
The impromptu selection test ended with an unsurprising ending, as Maca managed to become one of the youngest players in the history of Hufflepuff and Hogwarts.
And judging from the strength he showed, the word "strongest" has to be added to this title to be more accurate.
As Maca had expected, his study time had been drastically reduced as a result. But the training plan was substantial, and while Maca became more familiar with the various formations, Darren devised new tactics. It was the best Hufflepuff had ever been, and they had the idea of competing for a Quidditch Cup!
And this new tactic is the latest winning strategy laid out around the base score. It can be said that the addition of Maca has made everyone have a desire for a Quidditch cup, which is rarely seen in low-key little badgers.
Because of this, regarding the news of Maca's joining the team, all the team members unanimously said that they would never go out. In the next matchup against Slytherin, Maca will appear as a surprise soldier, and she will have to beat the little snakes who always like to do small things!
As a result, Maca was particularly busy in the following days. Whether it's in the library or at the Quidditch pitch, whenever Maca starts practicing, there are always several Hufflepuff seniors wandering around the pitch. It seems that this strange soldier plan has really been implemented quite thoroughly by these hard-working and focused little badgers.
Before you know it, Christmas is coming.
On a particularly cold morning, everyone noticed that Hogwarts had been covered in a thick layer of snow. The beautiful white scenery outside the window is telling everyone that the first snow of this year at Hogwarts has been unconsciously sent to the ground in everyone's sleep.
The lake behind the castle was covered with a layer of hard ice, much to the delight of the students. The ice sleds stacked in the utility room are finally ready to use, so you don't have to ride in the rickety boat during the Christmas holidays!
The Weasley twins had recently been punished for enchanting a few snowballs, causing them to chase Quirrell around and accidentally smash them on the back of his headscarf.
At that moment, Maca happened to pass by one of the windows upstairs, and he was so happy that he was so unlucky!
A few owls delivered mail on a snowy night, and went through a lot of hardships, and even lost a lot of feathers. They had to recuperate under Hagrid's care for a while before they could continue their work.
Maka's owl, Marfa, seems to be curious about snowy days, perhaps because in his hometown of Sumatra, he will never be able to see such a snowy landscape.
Maca watched as it hovered high in the air, sometimes flapping its wings and crawling high, sometimes swooping low. From a distance, no one would think it was just an owl.
Recently, Maca has been wandering around the forbidden book area at night, and her understanding of dark arts has gradually deepened. But he still had no intention of researching the most dangerous forbidden books, and he thought that the time had not yet come, and there was no need to ask for trouble.
So, while accumulating little by little experience in preparing potions, he began to compete with Transfiguration. To be precise, it's a long, never-ending journey with all sorts of living and non-biological materials.
Since there are no shortcuts, then we have to learn Hermione. At the very least, the study and memorization of various materials can also help the progress of potions to a certain extent.
Speaking of which, Christmas has a holiday.
Professor Sprout came over last week to register the list of students who were staying on campus for the holidays, and Maca hesitated for a moment to sign it. He's going to take advantage of the holidays to see Luna, he's been busy since school starts, and it's a good idea to go out and relax on Christmas.
Moreover, he found that since he practiced the Patronus Charm, he had missed Luna a little. He felt that he must have a sister-like affection for Luna!
It's impossible to say that he's actually a Lolita?
"No, no, no, it's absolutely impossible." Maca shook her head, amused by her thoughts.
At this moment, Maca was on her way to the Potions classroom, and he had a few questions for Snape.
But as he quickly turned the corner of the hallway, he spotted Hagrid, a huge man, who was snorting and clutching a fir tree that was larger than him.
The corridor that was originally quite spacious was blocked by him, and he couldn't get through it at all.
"Hey, Hagrid, do you need help?" In the gap between the branches, a head came from the opposite side, and it seemed to be Ron.
"No, I can, thank you, Ron." - Ron, sure enough.
"Can you get out of the way and stay out of the way?" Maca suddenly heard Malfoy's cold, shuffling voice from behind the cedar tree.
"Do you want to earn some pocket money, Weasley? I was thinking, you probably wish you had gone to the hunting grounds after graduating from Hogwarts? Hagrid's cottage must look like a palace compared to your original home! β
Ron's head immediately receded from between the branches, and Malfoy's sarcastic remarks clearly angered him.
"Weasley!" Maca heard Snape's voice.
"Someone messed with him first, Professor Snape." Hagrid stuck his unkempt head out from behind the tree and said, "Malfoy just insulted his family. β
"Either way, it's against Hogwarts rules to hit someone, Hagrid." Snape said in a sleek tone, "It's wise to take the penalty like McLean did, and Gryffindor was deducted five points." Weasley, you should be glad I didn't punish you for wiping the trophy. Alright, let's go, all of you. β
Malfoy, who was on the side, immediately showed a gritted tooth when he heard the surname "McLean", and it seemed that he hated Maca a lot.
He saw Maca as he led Crabbe and Goyle to squeeze past the tree in a deliberately rude manner, knocking the needles off the ground, and walking forward with a face full of annoyance.
Malfoy immediately wiped his anger from his face and walked over the other side of the hallway as if he hadn't seen it. But his deliberate behavior of staying away from Maca exposed the timidity in his heart.
"It seems that the effect of punishment is still there."
Maca glanced back, only to meet Malfoy's hateful eyes. When he saw Maca looking over, he immediately turned his head back again.
ββ¦β¦ But maybe not enough. Maca smiled and walked on.
"Excuse me, Professor Snape," Marca called out to Snape as he walked towards the dining room, "I wonder if you have time to help me answer a few questions about Potions." β
Snape turned, still glancing at Maca coldly, before he lifted his chin and motioned for him to ask.
"Oh, that's rightβ"
Just as Maca was asking, Ron couldn't help but whisper to Harry, "I really admire Maca, who can ask questions normally under Snape's frozen eyes......"
"I think Snape has the best attitude when it's when Maca goes to him and asks him questions." Harry took a moment to glance at Snape's expression, then added, "It doesn't seem much better. β
"I can't even figure out how Maca is doing in Potions class," Hermione said with a look of regret, "and although I often go to him to discuss topics, I can't read anything in his notebook lately. β
In fact, as far as the recent situation is concerned, although Maca said that she was asking Snape questions, it basically ended up being a discussion between the two of them about a certain potions theory. While Maca gained a lot, Snape actually got some more novel inspiration from the topic.
Of course, the amount of knowledge of the Potions Master is no joke. In most cases, the discussion ended with Snape's correction of Maca.
But it has to be mentioned that in Snape's deep heart, there seems to be a shadow of Maca's student. Because in many discussions, he is keenly aware that Maca has a philosophy of magic research that is almost identical to his own, which is to achieve the goal without all standards of good and evil.
In their minds, there is no real distinction between black magic and white magic, and both can be used. The difference is only in the user's moral code and nothing more.
Perhaps, even Maca herself did not realize this, but Snape, who had been trapped in even more terrible darkness, did.
After clearing up the doubts encountered in the research, Maca said goodbye to Snape and walked over to the Harry trio who were waiting for him. Behind him, Snape stared blankly at his back for a few moments before turning around and walking towards the dining room.
I'm afraid that only Dumbledore really understands what Snape is thinking.
When Maca walked up to Hermione, they were chatting with Hagrid.
"Oh! You're finally done asking, come with me to the restaurant! It's wonderful! Hagrid laughed happily, and the fir tree in his arms was shaking with his laughter, dropping more needles.
"I'll help you, Hagrid, you're going to shake all the needles out there!" Maca drew her wand and cast a levitation spell, causing the fir tree to float above everyone's heads and float away with him.
"Oh - not really, I mean, thank you." Hagrid said embarrassedly.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione followed Hagrid and his fir tree to the auditorium with Maca. Professor McGonagall and Professor Flitwick were there, busy arranging the Christmas decorations.
"Aha! That's a nice levitation charm, Mr. McLean. Professor Flitwick said happily, "Just leave it thereβin that corner, okay?" This is the last one. β
