Buddhism and Buddhism are generally quite close, while Taoism and Taoism are very far apart, and if you confuse and compare the inventions with the practical applications, you will be separated by vague concepts.

Buddhism and Taoism are two kinds of thought, which originated in India and China, and the main thrust of thought is derived from rational philosophy. They have their own set of theories about the birth and death of the universe, the world, man, and all things, which are logically self-justifying, rational and speculative, and emotionally calm and plain.

Taoism says "Tao", the Tao is natural, the Tao gives birth to one, one life to two, two to three, and three to all things. Buddhism says that "suffering gathers and destroys the Tao", and everything in the world, the cycle of life and death, is attributed to the "Four Noble Truths".

These are philosophical ideas with very obvious colors of naΓ―ve materialism, and have nothing to do with theology and religion. These two ideas, which have their similarities, both consider the big issues of the universe and life and death, and are logically self-consistent. Originally, there was no connection between them, but in the continuous thinking of later generations and the discovery of "different paths", similar to the ultimate goal of "science, philosophy, and theology", they have something in common.

Taoism is a religion native to China, derived from Taoism, Moism, Confucianism and other theories, formed in the Three Kingdoms at the end of the Han Dynasty, and became a religion that influenced the government and the opposition in the Northern and Southern Dynasties.

Buddhism originated in ancient India, began to be introduced to China during the Qin and Han dynasties, and reached its climax in the Northern and Southern Dynasties.

From the point of view of time, there is a lot of overlap in the origin and peak of Taoism and Buddhism in China, which inevitably leads to disputes between the two.

Buddhist scriptures have long recorded the story of the dispute between Buddhism and Taoism, in the era of Emperor Ming of Han, when Buddhism was officially introduced to Chinese mainland, the emperor built the White Horse Temple in Luoyang to place monks, translating Buddhist scriptures, during which Taoist priests challenged the monks, as a result, the monks showed divine changes, the Buddhist scriptures were put into the fire unharmed, the Taoist scriptures were all burned, and many people in the Eastern Han Dynasty converted to Buddhism.

Of course, this story is only one side of Buddhism, and it is not enough to be believed, but we can see the side of the dispute between Buddhism and Taoism from the records. In order to counter Buddhism, Taoism compiled the "Lao Tzu Hua Hu Jing".

However, before the Wei and Jin dynasties, the development of Taoism and Buddhism in China was not sufficient, so the contradictions were not prominent. In the Northern and Southern Dynasties, with the rise of the Hu regime, Buddhism began to be introduced to China on a large scale.

At the same time, Taoism also began to gradually mature, seeking living space, and the dispute between Buddhism and Taoism reached a new era. The famous Taiwu Emperor of the Northern Wei Dynasty Tuoba Tao destroyed the Buddha, and the driving force behind it was the national teacher Cui Hao, who was a Taoist.

Time entered the Sui and Tang dynasties, the Tang Dynasty royal family recognized themselves as descendants of Lao Tzu Li Er, and established Taoism as the state religion, which happened to be a new peak in the development of Buddhism in China at this time, and the dispute between Buddhism and Taoism reached a climax.

Religions that are capable of long-term development all emphasize goodness, and may be expressed differently. But in essence, what we pay attention to is a kind of Taoist and natural religious concept, which is the way to regulate oneself and the existing situation through faith, and to improve oneself through the understanding of the five elements of heaven and earth and the trend of destiny.

Confucius also said that if you don't know your fate, you can't be a gentleman, and through practicing your own mind, you can understand yourself and understand the meaning of life, so that you can achieve a state of peace, so that you can face life positively, and you will not be lost in your heart, so that you can find the meaning of life, and in this life, you will live well. As the leader told you: young man, work hard, you will definitely be able to surpass me in another five years, believe in yourself!

The Buddha emphasizes a religious concept that gathers the minds of all sentient beings, believing in cause and effect, believing in future lives, believing that when you suffer in this life, you will do evil in your previous life, and you will enjoy happiness in this life because you have suffered in your previous life.

By believing in Buddhism, you can achieve peace, just like the leader talks to you and tells you: Don't be jealous in this life, because I was a poor middle peasant in my last life, young man, I am optimistic about you, you work hard, I will give you my position in the next life, you wait for the next life.

This is the essence, if from the perspective of blessing and enlightenment, Taoism is to communicate the five elements of heaven and earth, through the means of traditional science, through the blessing of faith and your own belief together, to achieve the role of changing the status quo.

The Tao is for you to regulate your positive life in this life, and the Buddha is for you to look forward to prosperity and wealth in the next life. The Tao is to give you a means to change the status quo, and the Buddha is to give you a hope for the next life.

Both have the word "consecration", but the consecration is also different.

The official opening of "Kaiguang" comes from Taoism, Kaiguang is one of the Taoist ceremonies, Buddhism originally did not open the light, but there is a kind of Buddha statue blessing ceremony, which is similar to the opening of the light, and it has been passed down to the present, it is all called the opening of the light.

In a religious sense, before the mascot is opened, just like all beings in the world, the real spiritual light is polluted by ignorance and dirt, and cannot stimulate the true energy, which means that the practitioner corresponds to the Dao heart, and is in harmony with the powerful energy in the universe, and prays for the gods to come with his own true power to cleanse away the dirt in the nature of the enlightened item, and stimulate its original energy connotation.

Only those who have attained enlightenment through the practice of enlightenment can they invite the true protector of the true god who has practiced in the truth, and bless the worshippers or practitioners to open up their wisdom and correct their true hearts, so the effect of enlightenment depends entirely on the level of the practice of the master who is presiding over the enlightenment.

Therefore, in the Taoist rituals, the requirements for the high-level master who presides over the consecration are very high, only the high-level master who has practiced all the year round and has been promoted and conferred can have the qualification to consecrate the mascot, and the real high-level master has the qualifications to consecrate the mascot with his own cultivation, and the mascot of the consecration is like a living Tianzun and the worshipper or wearer physically and mentally accompanied, in the eyes of the beings in the world, the consecration mascot is just an object, an image, and in the eyes of the beings in the Dharma realm, the consecration mascot is the embodiment of the Tianzun, so it can play a role in preventing evil worship, eliminating disasters and diseases, tending to good fortune and avoiding evil, and the miraculous effect of helping luck, its value is really nothing

Law is measured in money.

It is to inject the invisible true spirit with boundless mana in the universe into the idol, and the idol will also have the spirituality of boundless mana. Therefore, consecration is an indispensable ritual after the idol is enshrined.

Buddhism originally did not open the light, but there is a kind of Buddha statue blessing ceremony, which is similar to the opening of the light, and it has been passed down to the present, and it is all called the opening of the light.

The Taoist method of consecrating the statue of the god must be carried out by the master of high gong, choosing a good day and auspicious day to open the light and point the eyes, and the ceremony includes: purity, inviting the gods, issuing decrees, issuing orders, seven stars, gossip, entering the gods, edicts, mirrors, chickens, consecrations, hair and other twelve kinds of rituals to complete.

Let the deities who are invited gather together the statues, so that with the help of his spirit, the devotees will have good luck and can be able to seek wealth and work, so that they can sit in their homes or temples for people to worship and bless peace. Unlike other religions, Taoist idols have initiation rituals, the purpose of which is to have a permanent deity.

Secondly, the immortals of Buddhism and Taoism are also different.

First of all, we must make it clear that the Taoist Daluo Golden Immortal does not fall into reincarnation -- the Taoist immortal path is not the heavenly and human nature of Buddhism! If we want to know whether Taoist practice can transcend the Three Realms and Six Realms, first of all, we must confirm one point: What is an immortal? Some Buddhists often say, "Taoism is what Buddhism calls the 'outer way,' and the highest Taoist fruit rank is only an immortal, and it cannot be separated from the cycle of life and death."

This is a big fallacy! They say this very well, but the people who say it obviously do not understand the concept of "immortals" and only confuse the immortals mentioned in Huaxia with the heavens in the ancient Indian concept of layman practitioners or Brahmanism. Immortals are not equal to ancient Indian foreign ways, this is basically certain.

Although the foreign monks of ancient India had a long life and some magical powers, they were not as transcendent as the immortal family, and still had life and death, which was obviously not comparable to the realm of the immortal family, and most of these foreign monks only sought to be born after death - note that the heavenly life after death is to abandon the human body and obtain the heavenly body, relying on karmic blessings, while cultivating the way to become an immortal is self-reliance, and the two are very different.

It is a pity that the ancient translators of Buddhist scriptures translated foreign Taoist monks as "immortals" for the sake of the reading habits of Chinese readers, but they did not want to mislead a large number of fools who did not know how to read the dead books, and confused Taoist immortals with Indian monks.

Taoism speaks of the five realms of reincarnation, which are roughly equivalent to the six Buddhist realms: Shinto (heaven and asura), human, animal, hungry ghost, and hell. Shinto itself is one of the five realms, such as the earth, ghosts, and gods, most of which have a function, and are bound by the laws of heaven, although they have blessings, they are degraded if they are guilty, and the situation is the same as that of the heavenly beings and asuras mentioned by the Buddhists.

However, the so-called immortal family, whether it is a congenital and acquired immortal truth, is either the incarnation of the Great Dao or the true person of the Dao, has already reached the state of leisurely travel as mentioned by Zhuangzi, and is not subject to external restrictions, let alone karma.

Therefore, it has nothing to do with Shinto. Taoist mantras, enslavement to Shinto is a common thing, but do not dare to bother the immortals, which is also the truth. Although some monks say that "the immortal family will eventually fall into nothing", Shakyamuni did not say this, which is obviously a lie. If the immortal is bound by karma and cannot transcend the Three Realms, the immortal path

It's not expensive either.

In fact, the reason lies in the image given to people by the Taoist immortals, such as the situation depicted in the Chaoyuan diagram of the Heavenly Divine Tao and the Daluo Immortal Truth gathering in the Jade Emperor, which makes people one-sidedly think that there is still a human class between the Taoist immortals and the true immortals, and the Daluo Holy Realm is the heavenly court, and then it is natural to graft the Buddhist views on the Emperor Shakti directly to the Taoist Daluo Tiansanqing Realm.

Actually, wrong!

First of all, the Jade Emperor Tianzun is not the Emperor Shakti, and it is clearly written in the "High Jade Emperor Sutra" that the Jade Emperor was originally the prince of the Jingle Kingdom, because of his compassion for all sentient beings, he became a monk, first proved the immortal way, and then proved the golden immortal, that is, the Buddha fruit of the four sacred fruits of Buddhism.

If the Buddha fruit of the Buddhist family has long been beyond the six realms, then the Jade Emperor has naturally transcended the six realms. In fact, the Jade Emperor is not the leader of a god and the master of the Three Realms as generally understood, but a great sage who governs this world according to the operation of the Great Dao.

The most important thing is that whether it is the Jade Emperor, or most of the Taoist immortals of the current emperors, gods, gods, generals, prime ministers, celestials and people, and even Shinto, they have already transcended reincarnation, and they appear in front of people in this way in order to better connect and save sentient beings in the world, and the appearance of manifestation, just like the male and female appearance of Guanyin, is a truth.

Therefore, the Taoist Da Luo Jin Immortal has long been reincarnated, in fact, cultivating above the rank of the earth immortal can be said to be the same as an arhat, and there is no risk of falling into reincarnation. The Six Paths of Buddhism are not found in the ancient Indian Buddhist scriptures.

Han Buddhism sprouted six paths on the basis of the five Taoist theories, probably in order to raise its own value, to flaunt the fruit realm of Buddhism and Taoism is one level higher than Taoism's immortal Taoism and Shinto. Later generations did not think about it, and even the people in Taoism sang along with it. As a result, a lieful has been passed down through the ages, and it is really a lie, and ten thousand people are in vain!

In the Taoist scriptures of later generations, there are always demons, the Jade Emperor Sutra: "If all the demons are in the way, all the demons or those who can smell this incense will rest in the suffering of the battle in the heavenly palace." ”

It can be seen that the demon is also a pure heaven and earth divine mantra that exists in the heavenly realm: "According to the five mountains and eight seas, the demon king is bound to guard my Xuan Lei Zu Baoyu: "With a pure heart and a grand wish, a wisdom will subdue all demons." Lingguan mantra: "Yang Qi Shenwei is a general, and the sky pickets the great spirit official."

The three or five thunder gongs of the train were ordered to surrender the ghosts and worship the three clearings. Patrol the world with a golden whip in his hand, and wear gold armor to show his might. The green boots are protective of the body, and the eyes are blazing. Three days in an instant, to God, and nine places to save lives. There will be three thousand silver-toothed phoenix mouths, and one million tiger-headed Pixiu soldiers. Walking in the front and back guards, through the mountains and rocks to catch goblins.

Pray for the rain to help the world and ask, and possess the body round light to understand things. Cure diseases and drive away evil spirits like lightning, collect plague and poison, and righteous demons. Soaring clouds and mist filled the void, commanding thunder and thunderbolts. The Great Demons of the Three Realms all surrendered, and the Ten Directions took refuge. I ask for hope to come today, and I give Revega great support. β€œ

and other Taoist scriptures have repeatedly mentioned demons, and later generations of Taoism have also formed the theory of the Six Paths.

The Jade Emperor Sutra said: "Subtle liberation, the fragrance of nature, is fragrant, all over the heavens, the wonderful paradise, and all the earth, all blessings, six ways and one."

Cut sentient beings, smell the incense, Pumeng open. The so-called Heavenly Dao, Humanity, Demon Dao, Hell Dao, Hungry Ghost Dao, and Animal Dao. If the heavens, all the celestial beings, or those who can smell this incense, will be eliminated forever and become blessed by heaven. ”

"If all the people are humane, the kings and ministers are Zhaoshu, or there are those who can smell this incense, they will win the heavens and live a long life. The body or extinction is the way to get rid of the shell and dismantle the corpse. If all the demons, all the demons, or those who can smell this incense, settle in the heavenly palace, and the suffering of the battle will rest. If all the hellish paths, all the sinful souls, or those who can smell this incense, will leave the hell and be happy. If all the hungry ghosts are in the way, and all the hungry ghosts, etc., or those who can smell this incense, they will be full, and they will be free from hunger and thirst. If all the beasts are in the way, all the beasts, or those who can smell this incense, will get rid of the suffering of the beasts, and will be wise and happy. β€œ

It can be seen that the Jade Emperor Sutra was written late, but it can be seen that Taoism has formed six paths with local characteristics.

The Buddhist concept of "immortal" and the Taoist concept of "immortal" are two different concepts.

The "immortal" in Buddhism actually refers to the practitioners, mainly the practitioners of various schools in India before Buddhism. The "immortal" in Taoism is actually the fruit level obtained after practice, which refers to the heavenly immortals, immortals, etc., who have attained enlightenment. The true meaning of "immortal" in Taoism actually corresponds to the Buddha, Bodhisattva, and Arhat of Buddhism, but the fruit position of Buddhism is more detailed and reasonable.

Reading the classics of Buddhism and Taoism to understand these two concepts, not to mention that the fruit of Buddhism is higher than Taoism, the same way, the Taoist "dragon" and the Buddhist "dragon" are also two different concepts, the Taoist "dragon" is the highest level of divine beasts, and the primitive Buddhism, especially the ancient Indian "dragon", is actually the "snake", after Buddhism was introduced into China, the "dragon" of Buddhism began to be Chinese, and the "dragon" of Buddhism became the "dragon" of China.
