Chapter 358: The Story of the Buddha and the Tao (I)

Just when Xie Baoshu was discussing things with the Netherworld, a barefoot monk quietly came here.

The monk looked at the Netherworld Zhenren and was very unhappy, and then looked at Xie Baoshu and said, "Thank you, Lord Shi, I already know the most important thing between you and Wei Tuo Bodhisattva. Why don't we have a good talk?"

Xie Baoshu smiled slightly: "Yes." ”

The Netherworld Zhenren smiled: "What is there to talk about with you, an old bald donkey, the Buddha Gate is so pickled." ”

Monk Wen Jun was not annoyed, just sat down and began to have a good chat. These two bigwigs sandwiched Xie Baoshu in the middle, which made him a little uncomfortable.

The controversy over Buddhism and Taoism has been around for a long time in the world, and there are often Buddhist disciples who think that Taoist immortal cultivation is not as good as Buddhist Buddhism.

As for who is superior and who is inferior in Buddhism and Taoism, this kind of thinking itself should not arise in the world, because there are ten thousand laws in the world, the root is the top, and there is no distinction between the Dharma sects and sects, and each sect can save its own destined people.

Secondly, the two religions of Buddhism and Taoism, the immeasurable patriarch and the Bodhisattva, the tireless and diligent people, the compassionate teaching, and the descending of the world, such a grand merit is not allowed for us to question, the superiority of the two sides, only the immeasurable ancestors of the two religions are qualified to speak, we stand in the perspective of the human ego, it is impossible to really get a glimpse of the history of the immeasurable merits of the two religions, and it is impossible to speak objectively separately.

The main reason why Taoist cultivation of immortals is inferior to Buddhism is that Buddhist disciples believe that cultivating immortals must continue to be reincarnated, and cannot be forever free from life and death, while becoming a Buddha can be forever free from reincarnation. The main basis for supporting this view is that the Pure Land sect of Buddhism relies on chanting Amitabha Buddha to rebirth in the Pure Land and forever free from samsara.

He does not deny the sectarian theories of the Pure Land sect of Buddhism, and greatly admires that Amitabha Buddha can create the Pure Land of Bliss with his own merits, which is an incomparably great kindness, which we Taoist priests should look up to and be grateful for, because this kind of behavior purifies the world, and transcending sentient beings is the eternal mission of a Taoist priest. If the sentient beings in the world are not exhausted, the Tao will never be accomplished. When the suffering of the world ends, it will be the day when the truth is consummated.

The reason why reciting the holy name of Amitabha Buddha is because Amitabha Buddha is a great energy field, a pool of merit for compassion and solemnity, and reciting the Buddha's name with one's own sincerity and taking refuge in the Buddha is to add one's own energy and life to this great energy field and great pool of merit. In this way, the fine flow into the rivers and seas will lead to eternal life, and mortals will become holy in bliss.

It seems that this teaching is very simple, and it only takes a Buddha name to achieve what the Tao cannot reach, but is this really the case?

First of all, when reciting the Buddha's name, we must let go of the earthly edge, that is, get rid of our own greed for the world, if you can't do it, you can't recite the Buddha accordingly, and you can't return to bliss. Therefore, the practice of the Pure Land sect itself includes the "letting go of all fates".

Then, in the Taoist practice of this lineage, great importance is attached to the tempering of the disciple's mind, from the understanding of the essence of the red dust, from the understanding of the situation of the fairy world to cultivate the disciple's renunciation, this renunciation is "let go of all fates".

In the same way, reciting the Buddha requires the expulsion of one's own "greed, hatred, and ignorance", and how many subtle last thoughts are contained in these three words, which requires the practitioner to start with his own state of mind and behavior

to dispel every thought that contains "greed and hatred".

However, the lineage strongly emphasizes the practitioner's expulsion of "demonic thoughts", that is, greed, eagerness for quick success, self-interest at the expense of others, ignorance and other mental concepts, and there is no difference between the two. Another example is Buddhism's requirement to "recite the Buddha with one mind" and give one's mind completely to the Buddha, while my lineage also requires my disciples to "be honest with the teacher".

Therefore, there is no difference between the so-called "reciting the Buddha to become a Buddha" in the Pure Land sect of Buddhism and the "practicing to become an immortal" in Taoism.

Even if you go to the Pure Land in this life, you will need to continue your studies and great merit before you can truly become a Buddha and get rid of reincarnation forever, not to mention that according to the current state of Buddhist practice in the world, there are very few people who can be reborn in bliss among thousands of people.

Just like in Taoism, there are very few people who can really become immortals and saints. Buddhist disciples practice the Pure Land, and according to their own practice, they obtain different fruits. Taoist disciples practice the Tao of Immortals, and they obtain different levels of immortals according to their own character.

Both are based on one's own cultivation to determine future lives and future lives. There is no saying that the method of cultivating immortals is weaker than the method of learning Buddhism.

It is also worth noting that becoming a Buddha does not mean that you can be reincarnated forever. Because becoming a Buddha also has to save people in the lower realm, without the birth of Shakyamuni Buddha, how can there be Buddhism in the red dust?

Arhats only save themselves from the low level of fruition, while bodhisattvas will save others and save themselves, and even if they become Buddhas, they must continue to save others with a broad heart and incarnate in the lower realm. The Pure Land of Buddhism is immeasurable and boundless, so why should it be passed on to other Pure Lands such as the Pure Land of Medicine Masters on Earth?

In order to adapt to different classes of people. Taoist immortal cultivation is the same, using different immortal methods to extradite people with different foundations.

If the path of cultivation can achieve concentration, sincere devotion to the teacher, breadth and fate, and noble moral character, it is naturally like Buddhism with one mind without confusion, let go of all fate, compassion for the heart, and wisdom for perfection. Taoism can also send incarnations to the lower realm, and the real body does not move, out of reincarnation, but must reach the state of consummation of merit. Therefore, the decision whether or not to enter samsara has nothing to do with the Buddha's path, but is completely affected by one's own cultivation and merit.

Therefore, it is ridiculous to judge the superior subordinates of Buddhism by "whether you enter reincarnation or not". Not only because the Buddha can enter the reincarnation or not, but also because the reincarnation itself is a casual thing, if you don't believe it, you can refer to the scriptures to see if the supreme gods of the two worlds of Buddhism and Taoism will preach the Dharma in the lower realm to save people?

There seem to be many differences between the two sects, but in fact, there is no difference when you think about it carefully, and what determines your own cultivation realm has nothing to do with the sect. Only one's own cultivation is the only decisive factor in determining one's ultimate attainment.

I hope that ordinary people will stop talking about the two religions in vain, create oral karma, truly understand the meaning of their own sect, prove with virtue, practice with virtue, save others and save themselves, and do their best to improve the foundation of this life.

He is also the supreme communicator of the Great Dao, why is Shakyamuni Buddha's 84,000 methods tailored for sentient beings so meticulous

But the care of the most has also created countless stupid people, and Lao Tzu's caution about the "Tao", but the attitude of the brown Huaiyu can still produce all kinds of strange Taoists?

The Buddha was an enlightened being, an enlightened being, a Supreme Guru, and he showed the path of learning, enlightenment, attainment, and practice through suffering, because he was compassionate and aware of the suffering of all sentient beings, and he had compassion for all suffering sentient beings. In this world, he has spoken the Dharma for 49 years, and the Dharma has been transmitted 84,000, and the so-called compassion and wisdom are infinite. However, although his Buddha power is boundless, his divine powers, hands and eyes are boundless, and he is also invincible to the karma of sentient beings.

There is a wise man who once described the temple and dojo of Buddhism in this way, first believers come from all directions, the incense is vigorous, men and women, old and young, the old and the young, the noble and the low, it can be said that the door is like a city, it is magnificent, slowly the door can be full of birds, the monks have more porridge and less, and then only those old men and old ladies are left to insist on incense. The five blessings are coming, the children and grandchildren are safe, and they bless themselves with health and longevity, and they can stay with their children and grandchildren, and be safe and happy.

Then, while pouring incense, they spit bitter water on each other, complaining that their daughter-in-law is disrespectful and their son-in-law is useless...... This is the true portrayal of most temples and dojos, most of them are superstitious people, and few are diligent practitioners. Is this the uselessness of "Buddhism" or the uselessness of the Dharma teachers, or is it the uselessness of sentient beings after all?

Therefore, when we look at Buddhism, there are many superstitious people and few practitioners, but in the practice of blind practice, foolishness, ignorance of the Buddha's principles and righteousness, or lack of knowledge, and no good fortune and lack of the quality of those who are the Taoists, greedy and greedy for the Dharma, people with evil knowledge and wrong views, distort the Buddha's path, defile the Three Jewels, and fall into hell.

Because these "practitioners" are detached from the dignity of virtue, they have heard about the retribution of the Dharma in the marginal lands, which is even worse than not hearing about the Dharma.

Therefore, whether or not to teach the Dharma, we must look at its roots, even if it is convenient, if we are afraid of enduring hardships, and if we have unbelievably heavy habits and karma, we still want to do a good job of the Dharma out of humanity, and we must not hope that he will leave the Three Realms, otherwise even the Dharma teacher who teaches the Dharma will want to cry without tears in the future, and regret making others suffer and make himself suffer.

This has to learn from the wisdom of the Oriental Tai Chi, listen to the strength, choose the right trade-off, do not lose the top, force to turn the force, strength to turn the strength, give up my self from the people, the introduction of failure, the so-called big is invisible, the wise are foolish.

In fact, how could the Buddha not be a master of Tai Chi when he was alive? You see, how can the disciples around him have a bad weapon? Although the Buddha has the power to fulfill the wishes of all sentient beings, the place where he starts is indeed real, and those who have fate, those who have roots, and those who believe in it.

Therefore, it is very important for the Dharma teacher to personally verify the foundation, but also to have the way of being a teacher and the ability to contemplate the roots, and even more to have the ability to teach according to the ten thousand methods, and to teach according to their aptitude!

Therefore, throughout Buddhism, good knowledge is like a sky full of stars, and there are very few people who really teach, and vice versa, those who learn and teach are like a sky full of stars, but true and good knowledge is rare. So Buddhism has created countless things

Those who are incomprehensible, those who are strange and sick, cannot live in the world, and leaving the world is also a dead end. It's sad!

The sorrow of Buddhism was not the fault of Shakyamuni Buddha, the leader of the sect, he also predicted it 2,000 years ago, and who can stop the cycle of cause and effect in the current world? Therefore, is the outer way of the "natural way" of the various outer ways revealed in the "Lengyan Sutra" the same thing as the "Taoist way of nature" understood by Buddhists in the East?

Many Buddhists just lack this kind of step-by-step pragmatic enlightenment, knowing, enlightening, attaining the Tao, practicing the Tao, and finally the spirit of wisdom perfection.

The so-called Tao Law is natural, and it has to go through the enlightenment process of "human law and earth, earth law and heaven, and heaven law and Tao", which are all practical efforts. The Tao is naturally the unspeakable, unspeakable, and infinite wonder of the Dao, although the wonder is infinite, but it must be attributed to emptiness, and there is nothing to be attributed to.

Although the four are empty and the void is empty, they do not cling to the emptiness, and seeing the color in the air, seeing the color is also empty, seeing the emptiness in the color, and seeing the emptiness is also the color, which is the Tao. The way of nature cannot be said to be actionable, cause and effect is the way of nature, reincarnation is the way of nature, and even the three paths and six paths, and the four beings and nine beings are all natural ways.

Buddhism is indisputable, but the multiplicity of sects and the different scriptures relied on by each ancestor made the sects and believers fall into each other's ways. This is true internally and even more so externally, making one's Three Jewels an absolute truth, and those who have nothing to do with the Buddha are all outsiders and look down on them.

How did the Buddha teach the "foreign way" in the first place? There are disputes, there are differences, there is a standpoint, what is not to do what is done, what is not to be empty, not to be colored, what is education? If there is a teaching attachment, it is not a religion, but why is it established? It is just to guide the needs of the masses to create an indefinite concept and a method of invariability.

Therefore, for the understanding of words, we should have the wisdom of Gude's one word and one Taiji, and if we stick to words, we will lose their meaning. What is the true meaning of transformation?

Therefore, I advise Buddhist disciples not to compare Buddhism with other religious schools, but to honestly do your own work, to improve your own knowledge in a down-to-earth manner, and not to dissipate your essence and energy on right and wrong that has nothing to do with the Tao, not to tarnish the wisdom of the Buddha, the wisdom of the Buddha, and not to disgust non-believers and heretics with your status as a superior believer.

Therefore, I also speak out weakly here, earnestly reminding the great masters of Buddhism not to talk about the evidence and realm of pagan patriarchs, let alone to explain and locate the enlightenment realm of pagan patriarchs with their own wisdom, let alone to belittle the holy virtues of other religions, even if they did have inaccurate opinions and illegal actions before they became sanctified, not to mention that there have always been some Buddhists who have elevated their own position and belittled other religions and spread false rumors.

In Buddhism, there is a hell that praises and destroys him

How much more so about sect-to-sect relations? What kind of situation does this drive Buddhism to? What benefits does this have for pure Buddhism? Does it defend and love the religion, or does it slander the religion?

Dao, but the Tao is not a constant Dao. The name can be a non-permanent name. None, the name is the beginning of all things. Yes, the mother of all things. Therefore, there is no desire to see it. Always have desires to see what they want. The two come out of the same place, and the same name is the same thing. There is a mystery, the door of all wonders.

Seeing that all these practice concepts are in it, don't you have the method of realizing the roots, power, awareness, path, mind, concentration, and even the 37 qualities? The Buddha attaches great importance to the literal promise, so let's look at the beginning of the Tao scroll in Lao Tzu's short Tao Sutra, and ask if there is a more ordinary text in the world?

No matter from any angle of Buddhism, such as the Buddha's only cognition, the large, medium and small three vehicles, the Madhyamaka view, the wisdom of emptiness, and so on, can we find out the slightest fault? What is the difference with the Buddha's prajna?

This is the wonderful use of the Great Dao, for Westerners it is Buddha, for the East it is the Tao, Westerners want 84,000, and Orientals only have this one. So what?

The culture is different, the roots are different, but the culture of the East was the first to have the courage and mind to accept Buddhism, and I want to ask who is the successor of Buddhism? Who is the promoter of Buddhism? Who is the Buddha? Who is not the Buddha?

However, whether it is Taoism or a hundred schools of thought, is there such a stinky problem of being the only one who respects oneself and who else is self-serving? Throughout history, our ancestors have not lacked great virtues of enlightenment. In the splendid culture of the pre-Qin period, in the era of a hundred flowers, have you ever seen the sons of each other squeezing each other?

The East is a holy place. The real indoctrination is culture, not religion, when the Taoist culture develops to a certain height in the East, there is no need for the form of religion to educate people, and the later formation of religion is the product of the downward trend of the world, of course, there is the inevitability of its existence.

The fundamental nature of the East was originally tolerant and great, and the sages and philosophers integrated their thoughts into all aspects of social life with their own enlightenment, just like the legal net was restored without being lost.

He does not have his own professional terms, which can be seen in their respective classics, and the specific methods cannot be seen in the source classics, but the view of hundreds of industries is permeated with the essence of Zhuzi's thoughts. This is the wisdom of the East, the wisdom of the Buddha was originally complete, but because its expression is biased towards the wisdom of emptiness, and the Taoist culture of the East is the same as the Buddha, but it is used by the Oriental people to be wonderful. In essence, they are all related to each other, and we cannot be biased in our observation.

The Taoist thought of the East is based on Lao Tzu as the great integration, and the classics are viewed, and the five thousand words summarize the avenue, which is all-encompassing. Every word reveals infinite wisdom, Lao Tzu's five thousand words, there is no end to reading the life and life, and there is no end to the life and life of cultivation, what is it?

Because the avenue is endless, but looking at its words and words, talking about theories and Taoism, they are all pointed, never thorough, hidden mysteries, and there is no trace of internal and external, difficult, size, high and low, deep and difficult. The geese are silent, is Lao Tzu doing it on purpose?

Not necessarily, unintentionally? Utility is inactive, however

But there is no boundless wonder. Between the lines, there is a hidden pondering, the ancients had the wisdom of heaven that cannot be revealed, why?

Because when the law should not be, when the law should not be the law, the law should not be the opportunity, the law should not be human, and the law should not be fate...... There are unimaginable ills. I don't know, but I believe that there are, so let's first understand what a Taoist is.

This is the philosophy of the Orientals, although wise, but the avenue is indeed ethereal for the public, and it seems that it is a small minority to be related to the avenue. Because of this, Lao Tzu can only seek quality rather than quantity. Therefore, the starting point of the Tao Sutra is very high and the requirements are very high, which is why the Tao thought is ubiquitous for Oriental people, but it is difficult to see the source of the classics and realize the origin. Those who can cultivate the Great Dao are the "nobles" among the cultivators.

The descendants of Lao Tzu and his followers also understood its meaning, so the successors and propagators of Taoism in the future all set thresholds, adhering to the principle of "heaven cannot be leaked" to write books, hiding their heads and revealing their tails.

Although Taoism has been cultivating for thousands of years, but to become believers, monks are a small minority, and seem to be "passive standby", but they do not know that the ancestors of the past generations are no different from the Buddhist patriarchs, compassion and compassion, concern for the public, the surface is not positive but the dark tide is surging, once the time is ripe, we must seize the opportunity.

For those who are Taoists, Lao Tzu's principle of doing things is to be brown and jade, which is not miserliness or inaction. Otherwise, his 5,000 words would not have influenced future generations for nearly 3,000 years.

On the one hand, he was brown and jade, in order not to want to see more and too many Taoists and false Taoists, so he ruined people's lives. On the other hand, the idea of protecting the people, the idea of harmony, the idea of teaching, the idea of formlessness and boundlessness, and the thought of great harmony that fully respects cause and effect, and does not force in, do not enter, or enter blindly, are all the embodiment of the perfect wisdom of the Nirvana realm of the Buddha.

In order to preserve the avenue, Lao Tzu and his descendants returned to the same path as Shakyamuni's 49-year teachings, complementing each other. But the sad thing is that neither Lao Tzu's classics nor the writings of his descendants can escape a common fate, that is, misinterpreting the holy will. Because the people are very easy to understand!

Naturally, there are many Taoists, but how is this different from Confucianism, Buddhism, and Buddhism? Confucius has long been worried about being misinterpreted the holy will, and it was like that at the beginning, and it was like that in later generations, even if the successors vigorously preached it, what could they do about it?

The sages of the East, who are not bound by doctrine or deviant to Shinto, can be seen that the words of the East all reflect the infinite aftertaste, and the space of the six directions, eight corners and ten dimensions of the east, west, north and south. Because of the different hearts and realms of people, they have realized different understandings and three views. After all, everything in the world is colorful because of differences, and this is conformity. However, the Buddha in the West has been bitterly speaking for 49 years because of his great compassion and great wish to transform sentient beings with different roots.

He also doesn't want to see the future generations of students learn to be stiff, learn Shinto and become gods, talk about the realm is the realm of greed, and say that the Fa-rectification is the dogma of absolute truth, and everything else is wrong. Talking about precepts means not doing everything, talking about emptiness means playing empty, talking about chanting mantras means changing the sutra machine and stripping everything, talking about knowledge is giving birth to a great self and slowness......

In spite of all these difficulties, the pioneers still set up their missions in their own ways and in different styles, knowing that this was inevitable, so why bother to do it.
