Volume 1 Room 88 Massive amounts of salt

After the ground is leveled, the final mud and brick paving are carried out, but fortunately, the amount of work is not large, and the entire wall is completed in only two days.

Of course, it was not all smooth sailing in this process, from time to time there would be sheep to touch porcelain, and even stood by the side as a supervisor all the time, not to mention, they stood by and watched, my progress really improved.

It's just that the big sheep are quite honest, but a few small lambs are not like that, and they have to come to rub around from time to time......

In fact, the construction project is very simple, in short, it is to build a wall with a length of three meters on one side and a width of about one meter and a half on each side, which can be understood as a rectangular box with one side removed.

The height of a few sheep is only 60 or 70 centimeters, so the building height does not need to be as high as the house, in order to prevent typhoons, the basic height is controlled by me at 1.5 meters, only the top will have a certain slope to facilitate the top of the roof tiles, will be twenty or thirty centimeters high.

After about a day of air drying, the wood prepared in advance was fixed and covered with tiles, and the whole project was completed within five days.

Looking at the tiled shed that has been built, I finally don't have to worry about the safety of sheep when the typhoon comes!

So far, I have seen two or three sheep standing in the open after the typhoon, and I can't bear to look at them every time.

It reminds me of my own experience at the time, the last time I didn't pay attention to them because my life was in danger, and this time it was really miserable!

Considering the problem of typhoon prevention, the direction of the opening of the tile shed is towards the mountain wall, so that when the typhoon comes, it can only blow to the back of the wall.

In particular, its direction is basically in the west and southwest, and the angle will not exceed 120 degrees, so you only need to deliberately guard against this direction, so at least you can reduce some of the losses when the typhoon comes!

In the end, I took two large bundles of freshly dried hay and spread them out in it to make a comfortable nest, and the sheep still prefer to be clean, and they are a little more hygienic than pigs and cattle and other livestock.

In a short period of time, the chickens and sheep have nothing to worry about except food, but the question of whether the ground of the chicken pen and sheep pen can be kept clean for a long time gives me a headache.

I was a little surprised by the amount of materials consumed, nearly 1,000 bricks were used up in the house, 200 tiles were also used, and there was a square meter gap, which I thought I would have left a little bit over at first.

Now this situation has led to the fact that there are no extra bricks and tiles at home, and I still need to make a certain number of bricks and tiles for backup in terms of my principle of being prepared for danger in times of peace.

......

After the tiled shed was built, it was necessary to continue to complete a troublesome task--- boiling salt.

Sixty or seventy catties of coarse salt should be filtered in water again, and then boiled and dried until the final drying, which cannot be completed in a day or two, which should take several more days.

After the salt is purified, more time is left for food, and the only thing left in the house is corn and peanuts, and the supply of cassava is almost over, not to mention sweet potatoes and potatoes, and there are only a small amount of dried fish and corn in the house to eat.

During this time, I was back to the state of extreme poverty I had been, and if it weren't for the fact that I was going to make salt as soon as possible, I would be fishing in the sea today.

The only thing that reassures me is that after this time, I am afraid that I will not have to worry about the problem of salt for two or three years, not to mention once and for all, at least I will not need to boil salt for the next two or three years!

The number is a good thing, but at this time there is no joy of harvest, but very worried, only more than ten catties of salt are purified at the end of the day, and the key is that the clay pot is burned again......

It's not just the pottery that is troublesome, there is too much sediment in the sea, and when the water is filtered with a filter in just two or three hours, the material inside has to be poured out again, and the filter material such as charcoal and stone is refilled.

It seems that dozens of catties of salt have all been purified, and it will take time to make some pottery, and the number of it is not enough, and the clay pots have lost two or three in the past few months, which is even more stretched.

The process of refining coarse salt is quite fulfilling, and I personally turn the black and black coarse salt mixed with sediment into yellow-white edible salt, and I see that the amount accumulated in the clay pot specially filled with salt is increasing.

Fortunately, when the salt is about to fill a clay pot, the purification of salt is finally over.

The total amount of salt harvested in four or five days is about 40 catties, which is more than a third lower than at the beginning, but everything is expected, and at this time, there is no beginning to feel that kind of surprise!

......

By the middle of June, I had to go to the sea to catch fish, and the food of the last few days had made people go crazy, and now the burps were all cornmeal.

Besides, cornmeal with mutton, without a little other food, at the beginning of the two meals I thought it was good, but the more I ate it later, the more greasy it became, and now I have no appetite at all.

After spending most of the day filling the fish pond with half of the fish pond again, I finally jumped into the sea with my fishing nets, and the food dilemma was finally temporarily improved with seafood!

I haven't been to the sea for a long time because the fish miss me extraordinarily, and today I am very active in cooperating with my work, and the first net is caught up with 30 catties, which is a good luck that is not once in ten nets, and it is only more than 10 catties at a time.

There were two or three different species of grouper and a cod, and I have to say that sometimes it is so wonderful, for the first two hours I was still struggling with the daily food, and after two hours this problem was solved.

Although it has not fundamentally solved the monotony of ingredients, it has only been temporarily improved, but with the addition of more fish and various seafood, it is only a matter of the last few days.

The next morning, after catching more than 10 catties of sea fish again, I am not ready to continue fishing, there is always a risk of drought in this season of summer, and there are too many fish in the fish pond to maintain the water volume.

When there are only thirty or fifty pounds of fish, you basically don't have to worry about it, and a few buckets of water can keep the fish pond nearly one meter deep, and fishing in this season is also quite simple!

In the afternoon and the next two or three days, I gave time to the shallow sea to catch seafood and kelp, and with the constant flow of fresh ingredients into the kitchen, the problem of food monotony became no problem.

In the past few days, more than thirty or forty catties of seafood are raised in the fish pond, kelp is also one or two hundred catties in the sun, and hundreds of green vegetables have basically grown, and it seems that the pressure has been reduced a lot!

......

At the beginning of July, the seedlings of corn and vegetables were more than ten centimeters high enough to be transplanted, and the woods outside were green, but in contrast, my field was full of sparse seedlings, and there was indeed a little contrast at this time.

In previous years, at this time of year, the corn was close to one person high, and it would be harvested in another month and a half, but the corn seedlings in the field at this time were only more than ten centimeters!

The weather in July was already quite hot, and I was more worried about whether the corn seedlings would not be able to withstand the heat of the sun and wilt and die......

This drought has also caused heavy losses to the plants in the woods, and many plants that could not withstand the drought have withered or even disappeared, and now they are not as lush as last year!

It took nearly a week to transplant the corn and greens into the ground, and since the sweet potatoes were vacated by one or two hundred square meters, I filled the rest of the corn and greens in the same proportion so that the land would not be wasted.

The last two crops are already close to an acre and a half of the area, and if it goes well, this year's corn yield can reach last year's level again!

In addition, cassava has to be replanted, although its yield is relatively low, and the number of three or two hundred catties will be harvested under dozens of square meters, but it also solves my urgent need.

Therefore, it is also a better choice to plant it in the ground while you have time, after all, it is also a very secure food, especially with a very long shelf life.

The rhizomes thrown around the open space germinated again, and after loosening the soil, some rhizomes thirty or forty centimeters long were selected and placed flat into the soil, and then sprinkled with two baskets of grass and wood ashes, and the next thing was to give it time to grow freely.

Cassava is still a relatively worry-free crop, except that it is not easy to dig and eaten raw and poisonous, which makes me feel that it is not as convenient as sweet potatoes, it is still very qualified as an emergency food!

......

After two or three heavy rains, the grass that did not exert its revenge in the spring began to explode in its accumulated strength, and the degree of madness was almost the same every day, and mowing the grass was already quite easy for me.

The amount of time spent on sheep is gradually decreasing, and it can barely be compressed into an hour and a half.

Things have been very messy lately, but fortunately, they have been handled pretty much better.

After finishing the miscellaneous things, I started a new round of making bricks and tiles, this time the number will not be too much, probably not a kiln will be full, and the demand is not strong, so naturally there will not be much output!

For the time being, the plan is 2,000 bricks and 1,000 tiles, and in addition to the 100 tiles needed for the sheepfold shed, the top of the house will also be replaced by two or three hundred, and the rest will be mainly used as a backup.

This typhoon reminded me that the tiled houses are far from being unbreakable, and if the typhoon is too strong, the roof tiles can still be removed.

In addition to laying a small area on the ground in the sheepfold, bricks are mainly used as a backup, and occasionally their whims may also have a lot of needs, and there are ready-made materials that can always keep up with my ideas in time!

It's just that the situation without pressure is completely different from the previous state of survival needs, and there is a feeling of absent-mindedness in doing things, and the natural speed cannot be improved.

On average, the average day is about 100 yuan lower than before, and I can only produce 300 to 350 yuan a day, and I often desert to do other things in the middle of the day.

This is also human nature, when you are in a hurry, you can often burst out at a level that is usually impossible to play, but when you slack off, you often can't bear to look at it directly!

Fortunately, I haven't been too busy lately, and there are very few things in the two months of summer, so I have so much time to squander, and it took me nearly two weeks to complete the scheduled number of goals.
