Volume 1 Chapter 75 Heat Stroke
Every day in summer always seems to be very long, but things are not as much as in other seasons, only a few hours in the morning and evening dare to be in the open air every day, and a few hours before and after noon can basically only stay in the house to enjoy the shade!
The sun is at its most intense during this time, and the temperature on the island has reached about 40 degrees Celsius in the last three or four hours of noon, and standing in the sun is like being grilled on a fire.
In addition to sleeping, the most important thing to do every day is to shake the fan to cool down, otherwise you will be sweating profusely when lying on the straw mat.
But sometimes I feel that it is a pity to waste a lot of time in this way, so I plan to find something to pass the boring time.
After half a month of air drying, the finished bricks have been completely dried, and they have reached a state where they can be fired.
It is indeed not a good choice to burn the kiln in this season, but in order to make the use of the wasted time, and also to build the drying field and the second room as soon as possible, I can also remove a piece of the burden hanging on my heart, even if the temperature is extremely high, I still start to install the kiln!
The process of installing the kiln was relatively good, because I chose to move bricks for a few hours in the morning and evening, even after dark.
The trouble is actually when the kiln is fired, and the process of kiln firing can only be described as miserable.
With a temperature of thirty or forty degrees and the temperature of the fire during the kiln, I think if I sprinkle some spices on my body, I can serve it as a roast suckling pig......
Thankfully, there is often a sea breeze to cool down, and it's better to have a light breeze in the woods.
......
The process of firing the kiln was relatively smooth, and there was only one shower during the cooling period, but at this time the impact was not very large, and the critical period had passed.
Fortunately, if it wasn't for a rain when the kiln was burned, the hard work before and after the kiln would have been in vain!
A kiln is full of bricks, than bricks and tiles with firing produces a lot more defective products, when I came out of the kiln, I found that the top two layers of four or five hundred bricks are not fully ripe, and it is obviously not suitable for use in houses.
It would have been a pain in my heart before, but now this problem can be solved, and it has almost no impact.
Because they can be used as floor tiles for drying the ground, even if the bricks are not ripe, there is still no need to worry about being soaked in the rain!
Wait for more than half a month for the corn to mature, this year's yield is much more than last year, and then it will be very troublesome to dry with a rainproof cloth, and there is no need to worry about drying corn and peanuts when they are ripe.
So I want to try to finish it before the corn is ripe, and the normal bricking on the ground is so that people don't get dirt when walking on it, and the flatter ground is also good for walking.
Therefore, there are no very fine requirements for accuracy, just use one piece next to another, and the accuracy of the bricking in my drying field must be improved several times.
If the gap is too large, there will be a lot of corn kernels and all kinds of seeds when drying corn kernels and various seeds, and it will become my loss.
After working hard for so long, I finally looked forward to the grain harvest, and I didn't lose much because of the typhoon during the period, but it was not worth it if I fell into the gap and lost!
......
Therefore, although the previous earthen dam was indeed quite smooth by me with the naked eye, when the floor tiles were actually paved one by one, I found that there was still a distance of 108,000 miles from leveling.
In terms of specific operation, I can also see that I am using a hoe from time to time to shovel the protruding soil on the ground, and fill some small pits to achieve a smoother state, and also adjust some wet mud when laying bricks, like the bonding between each brick and filling the cavity when building a house.
Fortunately, these problems are not very troublesome, and they only need to be completed step by step according to the process and the accumulation of time.
Although the temperature is very high, it does not stop my enthusiasm, and I can spend five to six hours a day to pave an area of about 10 square meters, and the progress is still very gratifying.
It's just that an accident happened today that scared me out of the way......
For three or four hours in the morning I continued to lay the bricks in front of the house, and then rested for a while and went down to the beach to fish.
Everything went smoothly, and I also harvested more than 20 catties of all kinds of marine fish in one net, but after putting the fish into the fish pond after landing, and then hitting a few buckets of seawater back and forth to the beach and adding it to the fish pond, I suddenly felt a sense of fatigue!
At first, I thought I was just tired, but the process of walking home became more and more difficult.
And it was also accompanied by symptoms such as sweating, slight dizziness, nausea, and Venus in the eyes, and subconsciously I knew that it was a precursor to heat stroke!
Oops......
That was my first reaction, and I was always worried about this kind of thing in the summer.
Because I have very little to do about heat stroke. I didn't even have a bottle of Huoxiang Zhengqi Water, so I could only rely on luck to get out of danger.
Lying directly in the woods is obviously not a good choice, not only is it extremely hot inside, but it can also get a little sunlight, and there is basically no improvement in conditions, and it is not far from home, only one or two hundred meters.
I began to walk steadily and firmly towards the house, and by this time I could not care so much but to persevere.
When I hurried back into the room for another three or four minutes, I suddenly felt that the situation was getting worse again.
At this time, I seemed a little anxious, sat on the edge of the bed and began to quickly take off all the clothes on my body, hoping to cool down quickly, and kept fanning myself with a fan to cool down.
I can't care about the uncomfortable feeling of drying up the sea all over my body, even if my eyes are very uncomfortable, it is not more important than a small life, even if I am asked to jump into the mud puddle now, as long as it can have an effect, I will not hesitate!
While lying flat on the straw mat and waiting for my body to cool down, I began to pinch my two acupuncture points, the middle and the tiger's mouth.
I don't know the specific principle very well, but I remember that when I was a child, I was often pinched by adults when I had any problems, colds and fevers, headaches and brain fevers!
When I grew up, I found that in many cases, pinching these two positions is very effective, especially when facing fainting and coma, pinching these two places is one of the most important means!
I don't know if it has any effect, but I feel that both places are very painful, and after a few minutes, I feel a little relieved of the symptoms compared to the first time in the woods.
......
After resting for a few minutes again, the sweat on my body was dried, and I went to the water tank to scoop out a few scoops of water, and stood at the kitchen door to rinse my whole body, so as to further cool my body.
At the same time, the sea salt on the body is removed, and the body feels like being pricked by needles after the sea water dries.
After half an hour of rest, there were no major problems, which also proved that the symptoms of heat stroke were not serious, and could only be regarded as mild heat stroke.
If it is very serious, it is estimated that he has fainted in the woods before he even has time to react, and he may even die with a whimper!
Fortunately, it was just a false alarm, the two high-intensity tasks of laying bricks and fishing in the sea in the morning made my body extremely tired, and I didn't plan to do anything anymore due to the fright of heat stroke, so I continued to lie on the straw mat to rest after my body was dry.
Maybe my body is really tired, I just lay down and fell asleep for only two minutes, and when I woke up after more than an hour, I found that I had returned to a normal state, as if I had just suffered heat stroke in a dream!
But just to be on the safe side, I dug up a few andrographis plants in the ground and came back to boil water to take them, just in case, in case there was another problem of recurrence, it would also be a troublesome thing.
Heat stroke gave me a start, but it also gave me a wake-up call, and in order to prevent this from happening again in the future, I decided to spend about three hours each day in the morning and before dusk to finish the whole day.
For five or six hours when the sun is at its strongest, try to do something light or just stay inside!
As long as you survive another month to a month and a half, this hot weather can be completely replaced by the coolness of autumn, and at least you don't have to worry about health problems.
In fact, every season has its own good, and I used to prefer to spend the summer when the warmth measures in winter were not enough, because the feeling of shivering in the cold is really not something people want to experience.
But now that there is no shortage of clothes and sheepskins, winter is not so difficult, and I prefer to spend it a little more......
After experiencing the thrilling event of heat stroke, my efficiency in doing things has decreased slightly compared to before, but the 30-square-meter drying field was completed in only three or four days.
This area is still slightly lacking, but it is basically enough, and it is not rational to continue to expand the area, and the main thing at present is to solve the immediate problem.
The second room in the back still needs two kilns of bricks and tiles to be built, and if there is a lot left, it will be a better choice to expand the area.
The long-awaited drying field is finally available, and the area in front of the door after the rain can be as muddy as a sunny day, I have to say, this is a very happy thing.
In the past, my shoes would be covered with mud when I walked two steps out, so I had to clean the floor of the room every two or three days, otherwise there would be heavy dust inside.
Looking at the latest results, I inevitably burst out of pride in my heart, this year's corn finally does not have to be as pitiful as last year!
......
The corn is still more than ten days away from being fully ripe, and in the past few days, a new food has become my new favorite, and it is --- tender corn.
The taste of tender corn can only be described as delicious, and its taste is almost as good as that of a roasted sweet potato, whether it is a snack for children or a snack for couples in the city, especially for me!
These days, I can't help but boil or steam a corn or two for almost every meal, which is like a staple food, after all, this seasonal vegetable can only be eaten for only a few days a year, and it is especially precious!
By eating tender corn, I also feel the state of corn clearly, and the yield of corn per plant may be much higher than last year, and the growth is very gratifying!
This is also due to the fact that the weather has been relatively mild since the beginning of this year, and there has been no mildew season or drought for more than ten and a half days in a row, let alone strong typhoons, or even decent typhoons, giving it very good conditions.
If this is not a good harvest, then I will have to give up this crop......
