Volume 1 Chapter 70 The Chicken Catching Plan I

After the housing problem and the shortage of ingredients have been initially resolved, although there are still many things, they are not as urgent as they were at the beginning.

And I do want to relax for a while, and the combination of work and rest has always been my opinion.

But what I didn't expect was that after a few days of leisure, I wanted to do something, and I felt a little idle when I was used to being busy......

This time I'm going to start a new operation!

An action that has been planned for a long time but has never been put into practice--- catching pheasants!

Hehehe...... The gluttonous worm in my stomach is at work again, and the nature of foodies has made me plot against it for a long time.

Pheasants, also called pheasants, run very fast, always like to fly while making "clucking" sounds, when I was a child, I thought it was very fun.

The presence of pheasants on the island has been found shortly after the arrival on the island, although the exact number is not clear, but in my estimation it should be more than ten, because several litters of eggs have been collected.

It's been a long time since I've eaten an egg, and I miss the taste of eggs so much!

Eggs contain a lot of vitamins and minerals and rich protein, and it is very comprehensive in nutrition and is known as the "ideal nutrient store".

Since I came to the island, I have been lacking ingredients in this area, but I have been forced to be dragged out of my poor state of survival and have no chance to solve it!

Now that my survival situation is basically guaranteed, I also want to eat eggs stably, although chicken is dispensable, but eggs are an ingredient that I love to eat and lack.

And if I want to eat eggs steadily, I can only put the pheasants flying around in the wild in my cage!

It's unimaginably difficult to go out and catch pheasants in the wild, but I also think that it is cost-effective to spend a certain amount of time and physical effort in order to eat eggs, as long as there is something to gain, and the recent low pressure has also given me this opportunity.

Anyone who has ever raised chickens at home should have experienced that even if you want to catch your own chickens when you are feeding, it is extremely difficult, and the difficulty of catching pheasants with your bare hands is even higher than the sky, so you can also sweat for the capture operation behind you!

......

The cage for raising chickens has not yet been made, and this operation is not as successful as before the sheep hunt, so in order not to let yourself do useless work, I will not waste this part of the time in advance, and if I am lucky, I will be able to make it again.

There is still some preparation work to be done before the official chicken catch, which is no less difficult than the operation of catching sheep, and it is necessary to choose the right way to have a chance of success.

First of all, the most important thing is to find out where their nest is, and only when you see their figure and the scope of their activities, can you have the premise of the next step.

Then there is the observation of pheasants' living habits, and the problem of this step can be directly omitted, because when I was a child, I often saw pheasants near my home, and I didn't know their habits well, but I also had a basic understanding.

I also know the topography of the island relatively well, except for a third of the area that should not have the possibility of their existence, mainly to search the remaining two-thirds of the area.

On the first day, I went through the woods, especially in the kind of areas where there was a lot of dead grass, but I didn't even find their shadows, but I added several openings to myself!

Walking in the woods, especially in those areas that are not usually walked, in addition to preventing stepping on the edge of the hillside and falling down and poisonous snakes, you must always pay attention to being scratched by various branches and hardness grass, especially the eyes, which are pricked at least uncomfortable and heavy are unimaginable!

Although there was no result, and I only found some wild vegetables and herbs along the way, it did not affect my fatigue level at all, and I was basically a little relieved at the end of the day!

The next day's harvest was the opposite, and I found a large number of pheasants.

The pheasants that were hidden were not easy to find, and it was hard to find them even in front of me, but the sound of the weeds as I walked instantly startled them, and for a moment they flew around so that even if I didn't see them too clearly, there were probably six or seven of them.

I have to say that pheasants are very timid creatures, I doubt that they have bitter guts or not, the slightest wind and grass they will run away while making a "clucking" sound, that is quite decisive!

......

They are all peek-a-boo experts, and they usually hide in the grass and are difficult to find, and I only saw one or two outside looking for something to eat after two days of walking.

If you are alarmed, you will be alarmed, and you don't have to worry about running away, after all, the island is only so big.

On the third day, I also checked the rest of the area, and found four or five again, and at this time I basically knew the number of pheasants on the island, and I don't know if there were any omissions, but the number I have seen so far is 12.

And also removed the small pheasant, there are two small pheasants seen, so if you count all of them, the number of identified is 14, you can't say that it's not much, you can't say a lot, and the possibility of success in catching it is not small.

If there are only three or five of them, I may even give up the capture plan, because too few of them means that the difficulty is escalated, just like going to a 100-square-meter paddy field to catch fish, the probability of catching one and catching a hundred is 108,000 miles, and each additional one will correspondingly increase the probability of success!

It took three full days to find out the number of pheasants, and I didn't delay any longer, and the next step was to start the capture plan!

......

There are many ways to catch them, but one of the best ways I know and can do it is to get caught in the path they pass through, and when they step on the trap, they become my loot.

The other is to use a net, hanging a long pair of nets in the air, which is also a method of catching birds and pheasants in many rural areas, which is widely criticized.

As for me, I ruled out the first option, because it was not easy to walk in the woods without a road, and it was difficult to observe the path they had taken, so I had to use a net to solve this problem.

Luckily, I found a small mesh net on the beach last month, otherwise I wouldn't have had a suitable net to catch!

There are many holes in the fishing nets with a length of about 200 meters, and there are still about 150 left after I used to cut and reconnect the big holes with a dagger, and I used string to fill in the remaining holes that are not too exaggerated.

Pheasants are social animals, and most of them are not too far away, only two or three hundred meters apart, and they may occasionally have meetings to chat or something, after all, the island is still too lonely......

It's good for me, and it's easier for me to get caught in my net with a relatively concentrated state!

After walking around the nearby woods for a long time, I figured out where to hang the net, and the location at this time was very critical, and the location was half the battle!

Once I had determined the location, I began to hang the net on the tree, which was a very difficult process, and my thighs were grinding down from the first tree, and I had to reluctantly return home and carry the four-metre ladder over.

I have to say that the power of the tools is huge, and it is too convenient to climb the tree with a ladder, and it only takes less than two hours to tie it all up.

The nets were tied to a height of two to five meters, fixed to a tree every few meters, and finally curved a little in shape.

As soon as the pheasant pounces on the 150-meter-long, three-meter-high net, it will be glued, and I believe it will be difficult to escape, especially if the claws are hooked into the net!

......

It's an easy job, but it's also a waste of my time, because if the pheasants stick to the net and don't take it off immediately, they will either break free from the nets and go back to the net, and the whole flock will not be hooked, or they will suffocate to death.

Obviously, this is not the result I want, I want a live pheasant, so I can only spend a lot of time quietly guarding the vicinity, and once the net sticks to the pheasant, I can take it down in time!

The preliminary work is almost ready, and the next thing can only depend on the will of God.

I went home first to bring some supplies, and I didn't even bring a bottle of water with me when I went out in a hurry, and now my throat is already smoking, and it is not a big problem to leave for a short time, even if I hang up for an hour or two, there will not be much danger.

When I got home, I brought two bottles of water and a few short pieces of rope, and the pheasants taken from the net definitely need ropes to tie their wings and feet, otherwise they might run away!

I had to hide in the grass and wait for them to come, and I didn't get anything until it was almost dark.

The timid nature of pheasants makes them rarely come out at night, just like people rest at sunrise and sunset, it is also a daytime animal, so I can boldly let the fishing nets here, and I don't have to worry about accidental injuries at night!

......

The next morning I came back the same as yesterday, waiting was always boring, and after two hours of sitting next to me I couldn't sit still a little bit, so I simply picked up the firewood in the distance.

It's okay to leave the neighborhood for a hundred or two hundred meters, as long as it hooks up, it will cluck, and you can hear it report to me from 800 meters away.

I collected a lot of firewood and took four or five trips to move it all home, and when I came back again, there was still no movement in the fishing nets, and it seems that I can go home again today!

On the third day, I finally saw pheasants, they were looking for food not far away, but it was useless to just walk on the ground, and they waited in vain for a long time and found nothing.

On the fourth day the situation changed dramatically, and after sitting by for a few hours, a sudden gust of wind blew in a drowsy out of boredom, and this gust of wind was nothing strange, but it drove the timid pheasants out of the grass and flew around.

Three or four pheasants scattered and fled while singing, and one of them hit the fishing net right under my nose, which made me a little disbelieving for a while!

Ha...... The process is so joyful?!

Without the slightest hesitation, as soon as I bounced off the ground, I rushed over, fearing that it would not stick to it and escape, so I quickly put the ladder on the fishing net and grabbed it in my hand.

The movements were so coherent that I didn't know when I had such a quick hand.

After grabbing it, I first tied its feet and wings, and then I carried it home, and there may be no other harvest today, and the pheasant will be more cautious if it is scared once.

Even so, a pheasant can make my heart feel good, and it's also a hen that lays eggs!
