Volume 1 Chapter 78 The Swimming Pool
Even if it is not obsessive-compulsive, it must be a regular shape, the depth must be consistent, and the flat bottom can be used for the next step such as bricking, and it seems likely that the pool will not be able to catch the last train for bathing this year when it is built!
The excess soil at the bottom of the pool is dug up and piled up three meters away, so that it can be used directly when you need to make bricks in the future, killing two birds with one stone.
At first, I only noticed the actual difficulties in the construction process, but I didn't expect that the biggest trouble was the weather!
Less than half of the dirt at the bottom was cleared of the bottom when a heavy rain not only prevented me from digging any further, but also caused me to stop working for a long time!
Rainwater collects into the pool to a depth of more than a meter, manual drainage is certainly unrealistic, conservative estimates are also several tons of water in it, not to mention that it is not my style to find something to do for myself.
In desperation, I can only choose to wait, and wait for when it will be dry and then continue to start, after all, it is already October, and even if it is done, it will not be used soon, so there is no need to worry!
But sometimes I feel like I'm a contradiction, and I'm thinking about making it happen as soon as possible.
It's just that God didn't receive this thought, and it rained intermittently until mid-October, and the rain finally cleared.
Of course, it doesn't go down all day or night during the rainy period, and when it doesn't rain, I continue to make some bricks out of the soil dug into the open ground, and intermittently make seven or eight hundred bricks again, because I think the bottom of the pool will need no less bricks, and the ready-made quantity is not enough.
After the rain stopped, the pool was deep, but I couldn't wait.
It took me an hour or two to dig a drainage ditch ten centimeters deep thirty or forty meters between the pool and the edge of the open space, so that the maximum amount of water in the pool would only reach the gutter and the excess water would not overflow to the entire ground.
Of course, at the moment, I mainly want to stand at the bottom of the pool, lift the extra water in it with a bucket, pour it into the gutter, and then flow down the gutter to make the bottom dry as soon as possible.
......
After three days, the bottom of the top layer of silt was finally ready to work after the top few centimeters of silt were removed, and the bricks and tiles had basically dried at this time, but in order to prevent the recurrence of rain and water storage, I had to temporarily put aside the kiln and give priority to the bottom of the pool.
There wasn't much dirt left, and with a highly efficient tool like a shovel, the entire bottom of the pool was cleaned up in just over a day, and it finally reached the point where it looked relatively flat to the naked eye.
Not to mention, for people like me with a slight obsessive-compulsive disorder, when I clean up the last bit of excess dirt and look at the almost flat ground, I feel very different, and the whole person is comfortable in an instant!
The height of the current swimming pool is about two meters, but it is surrounded by mud walls that go straight up and down, and the sides need to be trimmed so that it has a certain inclination so that the final bricks can be laid.
The purpose of laying bricks is also very simple, that is, to prevent the pond water from being muddy in the future, if the water in it is like paste for a long time, it will waste my time and energy to build it.
In addition, the ladders dug up and down also need to be processed and repaired, of course, these workloads are not large, only about two days to basically complete, the slope around also came out.
It was a good thing for me that it had not rained for several days, and I began to lay bricks while the iron was hot, and the bricks I chose were selected from the five hundred bricks that had not been fully ripe in the previous kiln and the defective bricks that had been burned before.
The bottom of the pool is laid in a similar way to the technical requirements of the original drying field, in order to prevent the soil from coming out of the cracks in the bricks and mixing with the water after the water enters, so it is spread quite tightly.
When the bottom is paved, I also went to the beach to bring back two or three hundred catties of sea sand, poured on the bricks at the bottom of the pool and filled the gaps, so that the bottom is absolutely worry-free, even if it rains heavily, the pool water can be guaranteed to be clear enough!
However, God still didn't let me finish it all at once, even if there was only one finishing touch.
When I spread the bricks all around me to a height of more than a meter, it stopped because of the rain.
But this rain also happened to test the practicality of the swimming pool, which after two days of rain again exceeded the water level of 50 centimeters, and the pool water was relatively clear.
The performance of the pool is quite satisfactory, although the rainwater flowing in on the ground has different degrees of turbidity, and after a day it is much clearer, the turbidity of the surface water is something I can't change, I can only wait for the inside to dry up and clean the bottom of the silt regularly.
......
This rain also caused the temperature to drop by three to five degrees again, and the hot days were not much, so I had to go into the sea to fish for a few days after the rain stopped.
There are not many fish left in the fish pond, even if I am not in a hurry to stock up for winter, I have to fill the fish pond to provide my daily needs!
Time flies, after a few days, there are seventy or eighty catties of fish in the fish pond, and the time has smoothly entered the second half of October, and there are only a hundred days left before the New Year!
I spent the last day in the pool finishing up the rest of the surrounding area with bricks, and my pool was finally finished.
The area after molding is very spacious, with a length of about three meters, a width of two meters and a half, and a depth of two meters.
The size is very suitable, and I finally don't have to snuggle up in the toilet to rinse slowly with water in the summer, and a large private pool is now my own!
Although it took a long time from the beginning to the time before and after the completion, and there were several interruptions due to rain, I was very satisfied with the size and appearance of the final work.
Later, it only needs another heavy rain to fill it with water, and it can be fully put into use.
The only thing I felt was that the depth of two meters was not safe, so I deepened the gutter again so that when the water in it reached 1.7 meters, it could be drained directly down the tank.
At the same time, it is necessary to dig another ditch from the well twenty or thirty meters away to reach the pool, so as to ensure the adequacy and durability of the pool in the future.
In addition, the water that overflowed from the well during the high water season flowed into the ground in vain, and I used to think that the excess water would flow directly into the pool along the ditch.
At present, this is the only way to solve the problem of pool water other than rain, and the effect is very promising.
Of course, the only way to overflow is to rely on rain, but there is no conflict between the two, because the well water is relatively long-lasting.
Once both ditches have been dug, the project is completely finished, and only the days left are to experience the fun!
Happily, if it rains heavily recently, it may be able to be used twice, and the temperature is still in the twenties, and the water is not cold.
......
The bricks and tiles had already been air-dried, and even the seven or eight hundred pieces that were taken out during the rain in early October could be fired, so I didn't delay any longer, and it seemed that the rest of the things were not too small.
But trouble began again......
As soon as the kiln was finished, and I hadn't even lit the fire, it rained again in the sky, so I had to hurriedly find the rainproof cloth out of the house and cover it on the top of the kiln, so that the bricks and tiles were not damaged!
I have to say, God seems to be trying to go against me lately, every time I am halfway through something, a rain interrupts my progress, and my emotions become incoherent......
The only good news is that the pool has about a metre of water, which is enough if you just wash the salt left by the seawater.
Fortunately, it only rained for half a day, and on the third day after the rain, the surrounding firewood was almost dry, and the latest kiln could be fired, and as long as they could be produced smoothly, the completion of the second house was just around the corner!
This time there were no accidents, and after two days of firing, the harvest was smooth and smooth, and no accidents during the period meant success.
All the timber for building the house had been prepared a long time ago, so the materials were in place and the construction was finally ready to begin.
In fact, the even better news is that the workload of this room is much smaller than before, because the left and right walls can be shared with the walls of the first room and the kitchen, and only some parts of the front and back sides and the kitchen side need to be built.
Of course, the construction progress was quite fast, and with the mud mixing and various preparations, the height of the masonry could be more than 50 centimeters in one day.
The entire wall was completed in a week, and if it weren't for the rain on two days, the whole wall would have been built in four or five days.
......
At the beginning of November, while the walls were dry, I started fishing again to store fish for the winter that lasted for half a year.
also took advantage of the recent temperature to grab time, at least when I went to the sea, my body did not have a strong resistance!
Compared with the temperature before these two rains, it is estimated that it is within 25 degrees at this time, and the next two rains can basically reduce the temperature completely, and then there will be no conditions for going to the sea at all.
Therefore, in this autumn's tail, it is best to stock up on a large number of marine fish, after all, the current food looks quite a lot on the surface, but it will not last next year's harvest if it is seriously consumed.
Unlike before, I filled the fish pond with water and made a small renovation before going to sea.
Unconsciously, the amount of seafood caught in the sea is gradually increasing, and the proportion of seafood is also increasing, of course, this is the result of my consciousness, but I must also admit that seafood now accounts for a considerable proportion.
It's a pity to eat it all when I get it back, even if I keep it for three or five days like before and then eat it, I think it's too cost-effective, so I have the idea of renovating the fish pond.
I used branches to enclose a third of the area in the fish pond, which will be used to store more vital seafood, such as shellfish such as clams, sea cucumbers, sea urchins, etc., and then go out into the sea to catch them.
In order to get as much seafood as possible, I was tired enough to go to sea for the next few days, spending more than three hours in the sea every day, and when I came back to shore, I was squirming and weak.
This state of affairs did not last long, and it began to rain on the sixth day, and this rain lasted for three days, and the temperature dropped completely to less than 20 degrees.
