Volume 2 Chapter 125 The Right Decision
Thankfully, it was caught up in the hoe and didn't chase me directly, so after holding the spear, I rushed at it and smashed it with a stick.
It's not as exciting as I thought it would be, and the excitement should be mainly before the battle begins, and when I get the right weapon, the result is already preordained!
The first stick didn't hit, it felt a great threat and tried to run away, but I didn't give it a chance to live, it was too much of a threat to me!
The second stick was unsurprisingly successful, and the process was relatively simple, the spear slowly dragging back as it pressed against it, and finally the blade of the spear tip slashed it in two.
The first half of the snake is still rolling, but raising the spear again and smashing its head means that the snake has been successfully dealt with, and my job is to bury it and clean the spear with sea water and sand!
I think that my decision to widen the road is extremely correct, there is not enough warning time if there is not enough empty ground, and it is easy to be killed by a sneak attack, and there will be no place to cry out for injustice when the time comes......
It also made me realize the importance of weapons, and if I hadn't brought a spear today, the result might have been very different!
Even if I can solve it with the help of a knife in the end, it will leave a psychological shadow for many years, after all, the length of the knife limits me to a position of about one meter to it, and the danger is stronger than fighting a crocodile.
......
The busy June has passed quietly, and the results of this month are also quite good, and the work of successfully preparing the ground for the relocation of the island has been completed, and all aspects have reached the pre-determined progress.
The bell of July has been ringing, and although the temperature is getting hotter, there is no reduction in what needs to be done, and all the time is full.
It's just a pity that God didn't plan to give me a chance to follow the rules, and this year's second typhoon happened, or when I was busy on Crocodile Island.
In the first 10 days of July, I worked peacefully and comfortably, transporting nearly 300 bricks back and forth, not to mention, clearing out the area of one acre of land needed to build a house, and it felt so good to be empty!
If you had been busy in the dense woods half a month ago, it was very likely that you would not have noticed the slightest change in the weather, and the final consequences would have been very serious.
Fortunately, after nearly an acre of land was vacated, I felt the changes in the weather more intuitively than before, and the signs of various typhoons were already clear, which allowed me to notice the abnormal situation when I was logging.
At this time, the weather was quite normal, basically quiet before the storm, but the first time I noticed it, I was already packing up my tools and rushing home......
I don't know how many typhoons I've experienced so far, and my experience points have been full, which are all precious treasures in exchange for sweat and suffering!
The journey back takes two hours, and if you react too late and wait for the wind to strengthen to five or six levels, it means that you can't walk, or there is a possibility of being overturned on the way.
I don't have to be stranded on Crocodile Island, I can defend myself against typhoons in the open air without protection, I can also take care of all the preparations at home, feed the chickens and sheep, and everything goes smoothly!
......
By the time I had done all the work, the typhoon seemed to be unhurried, and the wind strength was only about four or five magnitudes, and all I could feel was the coolness when I stood outside.
But I only have cold in my heart, not cool!
The corn has exceeded 1.5 meters in height and will grow in another month and a half, and a typhoon will undoubtedly wipe out all the corn in this area......
The busyness began again, and I had to hurry up and collect all kinds of branches and long logs to reinforce the rows of corn, similar to the work I did when the typhoon hit the year before.
I just wish the typhoon had slowed down a little more, so I would have more corn and more food for the busier second half of the year, but I would have less time to catch the ingredients alone!
For every three more corns that survive, plus a variety of vegetables and omnivorous, it is almost enough to have an extra day's ration.
There are still about 600 catties of corn left in last year's thousands of catties, which looks like a lot, and if the whole army is wiped out this time, these 600 catties will last until next year.
Whether the relocation will be completed is uncertain, which leads to uncertainty about which islands will be planted next season's crops, and there is also a great deal of uncertainty about yields.
The typhoon is getting closer and closer, and the fixed number of corn plants is less than 500, but the wind is getting stronger and stronger, and I know that I have no chance!
......
It may be that last year's bumper harvest angered God, and this year it is not ready to let me have another harvest, this typhoon is very serious, and there is no intention of releasing water at all.
I know that with the gradual strengthening of the wind, there is little hope for this year's corn, and whether the reinforced 500 plants can be saved depends on luck.
The strong wind was only officially on the island in the afternoon of the second day after I returned to the room to reinforce the corn, and I had not experienced such a strong typhoon in more than a year, and it made people worry in the room!
The more typhoons I saw at the top of the mountain, the more I felt that it was a wrong decision to build a house here, the wind here is too strong, if you compare the typhoon resistance to the combat field, this is the first front, and all kinds of firepower are beckoning here!
If there was a two- or three-hundred-square-meter open space in the location of the cave, the brick house would have been built there and would have been a good one, and the wind force of the house would have dropped by at least one or two levels, but don't underestimate these two levels, when the typhoon reaches a certain level, the result of falling one or two levels and not falling may be completely different.
There may be a difference of one or two times in terms of losses, and the psychological fear when sheltering from a typhoon in the room can also be effectively reduced, which has many benefits in all aspects!
......
I already have no illusions about corn, and in the room my heart is starting to become calm, and it turns out that when you can't let go of a person or a thing in your heart, you always worry about it and dream about it at night.
But when you let go of your obsession with this person or thing, you will find that the world is back to normal, and I am in such a state now, and how much corn I can have left depends on my luck!
Not to mention not only the corn, but now even I am unable to protect myself, the house has begun to shake slightly, and the roof tiles are gradually falling, and so far nearly a hundred have fallen.
The typhoon is only halfway over, and it is not ruled out that there is a possibility of strengthening, which makes it even more uncomfortable for me to stay in my room, and I want to get out of the top of the island even more.
On the fourth morning, I was finally able to go out, and at least three or four hundred tiles fell from the roof, two of which fell on my head.
It was inevitable to renovate the roof, but first I was ready to go out and check on the outside, especially the corn that I was thinking about.
The first thing that caught my eye was the scene in the field, and everything was expected, and the corn was blown down in addition to the estimated 200 plants left in addition to the 500 reinforced.
Judging from previous experience, you can only raise one or two hundred plants at most, which means that even if the wind and water are smooth in the future, you can only harvest 200 catties of corn this year!
The other peanuts and sweet potatoes are relatively good, the potatoes are basically ripe, and the green vegetables have about one-third of the loss, especially the open leaves have been blown off, and the loss is not small.
......
Fortunately, there is no shortage of sheep food this season, and the sweet potatoes are still relatively well preserved, otherwise the food of so many sheep would have exhausted me to death.
The sheep and chickens in the pen screamed very hard when they saw me come out, needless to say, they knew that they must be hungry and unbearable, and they were estimated to be able to hold on for the first two days, and they could only be hungry for the next two days.
I began to pick up all the green leaves that had been scattered by the typhoon, and I guess it would be enough to roll my eyes on the piles of green leaves that were piled up like a hill.
After feeding the chickens and sheep, the work of supporting the corn began, and I was very sad to lose almost three-quarters of it, but the role of corn is an indispensable staple food, otherwise I would have already given up the idea of planting it!
The damage in the woods doesn't seem to me to be large, and most of the fragile trees have long been destroyed, so this typhoon has not achieved much, compared to previous strong typhoons, this time it has not even lost half of the previous ones.
Therefore, although walking in the woods is occasionally hindered by falling branches, it is not difficult to walk an inch.
There are no fish in the pond, so there is nothing to see, but the boat parked on the beach has to determine the extent of the damage, or even whether it has been blown away!
The sailboat was fixed quite firmly in normal times, and before the typhoon came, it was reinforced by me multiple times, and at least a dozen wooden stakes were inserted into the sand and soil to fix the hull every week, and the water inlet was also blocked.
In addition, the sails were retracted when they docked, and I think that the typhoon should not pose a big threat to it, after all, its own weight is not light, it is more than 1,000 catties.
The process of walking on the road is very stressful, and the boat is a very important tool for me at the moment, and losing it will delay a lot of time and add a huge workload.
Fortunately, God was kind to me, and the ship was still there, but this time it was almost unscathed because of the proper reinforcement, and it was still in normal condition in all aspects, and it was the only item that was not damaged in this typhoon.
Therefore, the next work is mainly to deal with the various losses on the top of the mountain, especially the roof needs to be repaired, which is one thing that cannot be lazy!
The benefits of the earthquake seem to outweigh the disadvantages now, and it is not a bad thing to set out to explore the island because of the lack of water, and then move to the island because of the discovery of a water source, but it is a fairly correct decision!
The location of this place seems to be quite good when the house was first built, especially since it is built next to the water source, and the vegetable patch is also dozens of meters away, which is indeed satisfactory in all aspects.
However, after a few years of living, I realized that the destructive power of the typhoon could be maximized here, and there were almost no strong shelters, and the idea that the angular position of the two mountains could play a certain role was not realized.
Therefore, it is undoubtedly wiser to move to another lower location and build a house on the back side of the direction of the typhoon!
