Chapter 23: Contradictions
Outside the Barton police station, officers in police uniforms hurriedly walked past a large man, not paying much attention to this normal-looking, unharmed civilian.
Benjamin pushed open the door to the police station and looked inside. James wasn't home, and even though Zach said, 'Let's go to church first,' Benjamin was behind the wheel and drove the car here.
"Hey!" a policewoman who was not too tall saw Benjamin, she stood behind the front cabinet, waved at the looking Benjamin, and smiled, "Here you are again!"
Benjamin looked at the policewoman, remembered, smiled and waved, and walked up to her, "Hello, see you again." Is Lance there?"
"He's here, you wait a minute, I'll call him. The policewoman smiled and turned to go inside.
The police station was much more 'lively' and crowded than the last time Benjamin arrived, with detectives and officers busy, handcuffed street thugs in the hallways noisy, and no smile on anyone's face. Maybe that's what a police station should look like, in a general sense.
It didn't take long for James to come after the policewoman. His shirt was crumpled and his left eye was clearly bruised from being beaten. Seeing that it was Benjamin, he frowned.
"Thank you. Benjamin thanked the policewoman first, gestured to James, and motioned to go out.
"No thanks. The policewoman was smiling, and she didn't match Yan SΓΉ's police station.
Benjamin turned to leave, "Wait, I'm Emma, what's your name?"
"Officer Emma. Benjamin smiled and bowed, "My name is Benjamin." β
"No, no, Emma is my name. The policewoman smiled and waved, "Emma Farrell, you can call me Emma." β
Benjamin's eyebrows raised slightly, and he smiled, "Thank you again, Emma." I want to ......," Benjamin gestured, pointing to a piece of James as he walked to the door.
"Oh, go ahead, see you again!" the officer named Emma waved awkwardly.
Benjamin nodded, and left the police station with James.
"Why are you suing her by your name!" James didn't seem to be in a good mood.
Benjamin shrugged, as if he didn't care, "What's the matter with your eyes?
"It's none of your business!" said James coldly, "what are you looking for me for?"
Benjamin raised an eyebrow, "Zach has something to say to you." He pointed to the parked van in front of him, and Zach leaned next to it, waving in the sunlight.
James's face was even darker, he knew that the vampires were languishing in the sun, it was four o'clock in the afternoon, and in a few days it was the summer solstice, and the sun was raging. Vampires, on the other hand, seem to move freely. What the reason, James did not want to think about.
"Let's just walk around. Zach smiled and joined the two, and the three of them walked around the Barton police station without any goal.
Zach looked in the direction of the police station, and each officer was in a hurry, "You guys seem to be busy at work. β
James glared at Zack, the bruise on his left eye was more obvious in the sun, and his eyelids were weak, obviously the person who hit him was not light, "What are you doing here?
"Can't we just care about our friends?" Zach smiled.
The corners of James's mouth twitched, and he turned around to go back to the police station.
"Wait, James. Zach shook his head helplessly, "We may be able to sue you why Barton's crime rate has increased." β
James looked back gloomily, "How do you know. "The number of social incidents in Barton has doubled in the past week, but most of them are petty cases such as brawls and thefts, and the most striking is the investigation of the church accident a week ago, when the police diverted the attention of the media and the public did not know about it.
"We just knew. Zach gestured and walked on, and James adjusted his breathing and continued to follow the two men.
"Until then, James, you can put down your investigation of Quest. I was wrong, he was innocent. Zach pouted Benjamin, who curled the corners of his mouth.
"What?!" James's voice rose suddenly! The pedestrians around him were attracted by the sound and looked this way.
"What are you talking about!" James lowered his voice, his face very bad.
"Not a phantom. Zach looked at James and quickly finished speaking before leaving, this is the vampire's idea, "We know the real 'murderer'. β
James opened his mouth half-open, his eyes flashing with all kinds of light, and his footsteps stopped.
Zach and Benjamin both frowned, glanced at each other, and turned to look at James, who was no longer moving forward.
"Hmph. After a brief silence, there was a soft thump in James' throat.
"Isn't that interesting?" James lowered his head, and the vampires and werewolves couldn't see his expression, only to feel the emotion that James was still excited just now quickly fell silent.
"You guys, think, that's very, funny?!" James jerked his head up and stared into Zack's eyes!
Zach frowned and grabbed James by the shoulders to move on, they had already attracted some people's attention, and that was not the effect that the vampire wanted.
"No, it's not fun. Zach didn't pull James, his brow furrowed even tighter, "I'm telling you the truth." Do you want to know the truth, or do you want to argue with me here?"
"Are you fucking playing with me?!" James pushed Zack's hand away and glared at the vampire, "TRUTH?!FUCK you-fuck the truth!I shouldn't have listened to any shit that comes out of your mouth!!"
James turned, no longer glancing at the two men, and headed for the police station, leaving the two men standing there frowning.
"Uh-" Zach looked at James' back, "and this went very smoothly." "It's irony.
Benjamin patted Zach on the shoulder, "Maybe there's something really wrong with Quest." "It's comfort.
Zach shook his head, thinking for a split second. Let go of Benjamin's comfort and walk directly to the distant back.
James felt a hand on his lower back, cold spikes against his spine.
"I forgive your insulting words. Zach leaned against James, and the vampire's whisper reached James' ears as his pupils suddenly contracted, "Now, you're going to go somewhere with us." β
Benjamin shook his head and began to walk in the direction of the van.
"What do you want to do!" James lowered his voice, his eyes slanted towards the vampire, and the bright red in the other's pupils made people shudder.
"I said, I'm going to tell you the truth. Zach pressed James's hand in the back and forcefully deflected the direction he was heading, "Now that I've changed my mind, I might as well show it to you." Are you going to go on your own, or am I going to break the agreement and use the Eyes of Charm on you?"
James Lance 'voluntarily' sat in the back seat of the van and stared gloomily at the two men in front of him.
"James. Zach pulled his seat belt and said in a cold tone, "I almost understand the contradiction between us. β
James didn't answer, watching gloomily as the scenery turned out of the window, and the truck drove away from the police station.
"Anthony's partnership with us started with a thorough understanding of both parties. Zach glanced sideways at the back seat and listened to James's suppressed breathing, "We have enough knowledge of each other's worlds, and together, we know this whole world." This is the basis on which we can trust each other. β
Benjamin didn't fiddle with his radio this time, and all that was in the car was Zach's voice and the hum of the engine.
"But you're too far from you. You know too little about the alien world, and I'm trying to help you understand it and let you see the real world. Zach tilted his head, looked ahead, and accentuated his tone, "I tried, and now, I can say, 'I failed,' a huge failure." β
"Failure?!" James seemed unable to remain silent, "Yes! You failed! I will never be guided by you again! For your good ......"
"Our interests?" Zach shook his head, "then sue me James, what's in it for Grande to ruin Quest?"
James was speechless for a moment.
"I don't care what you found Quest, maybe he really has some bad intentions, it's your job, you can judge for yourself. But I'm still here to tell you the truth, James, to tell me, why am I asking for such trouble? Playing with you?" Zach snorted and shook his head.
"Does it matter?!You were the one who led me to want to investigate in the direction of the 'man'! It was you, you made me think it was the fault of the 'man'! I don't care about your truth! No matter what it was, in the end you would use your words to make me think that this qiΔ was the fault of the 'man' himself!" James clutched the back of the front seat excitedly and roared loudly.
The two in the front seat looked at each other and shook their heads, James's prejudice was deep-rooted, and even though he had seen so many 'strange things', the world in his eyes was still divided into two parts.
"James, you're wrong. Zach sighed, "I'm not trying to induce you to investigate in the direction of people, but I'm telling you: what can you, as a weak human being, do." β
James's body trembled, why is the prejudice so deep, that's why, humans are too weak.
"But you're wrong! Not a phantom, you don't have any delusions about making Neil and Daphne disappear......!" James's words were stuck in the middle, which was ironic, and the 'Quest's motive for the crime', which he was so sure of this morning, looked like a slander at this point!
Because of Zack's influence, James unearths other people's darkest secrets!
Zach didn't wait for James's next words, the atmosphere in the car was a little gloomy, Zach thought for a moment, "I've admitted my error in judgment, what do you want? Sorry? So, I'm sorry, James, I misled you." Is that enough?"
"You ......" James' teeth are striking each other!
"If I could judge everything correctly, we wouldn't need you, Detective Lance. Zach said lightly, "But my words are still correct." Grande can handle certain things, but it's not enough for Barton City, Anthony, you, you still have to do your job. β
"My job?" said James laughed angrily, "what job?, convicting innocent people?!"
"We're here to stop such a tragedy from happening, aren't we?" Zach looked at James, "if we were as evil as you think, we wouldn't be here." There was disappointment in Zack's eyes, "As a police detective, you actually said something that didn't care about the truth. β
The look in James's eyes was constantly changing, and it was a complicated state of mind.
"Alright, James, let's start over. Zach turned his head, "Let's not talk about cooperation yet, let's start by letting you know our world." Oh no, my bad, we live in the same world. Let's start by fully understanding the world and making sure we can think from the same www.biquge.info. β
