The Devil (Extra)
Clouds of lightning rolled over the Shimmering Silver Mountains, heralding lightning and wildfire, but nothing happened.
From the top of the tower, the mob looked like a child's mess of toys – toothpicks, spears, and tiny torches. The person at the front was a tall man with gray hair, a sword around her waist, and a handmade coat.
Vega watched as the crowd crashed through the outer gate, and his evil deeds made them angry, and they came to demand that he be held accountable for his actions. It's finally here! He walked briskly down the stairs to the inner door.
With a pop, the gate was slammed open, and the villagers stumbled into the courtyard. The female warrior in the lead drew her sword and walked forward, avoiding the clumsy crowd around her, waiting for the rest to stand firm and find the direction of the spear point.
Vega glanced out through the crack in the door, snickering expectantly.
He made eye contact with the female warrior.
Vega covered his mouth with his hand, but he had already been discovered. The peasants stumbled behind the skirt of the chief. Awesome. He took a step back, the shivering laughter that made him barely hold his staff, and the door exploded with a blast of purple energy.
He walked out to the top of the stone steps, and the dust settled. He knew how to pose as he should—his large hat was almost the width of the door frame, his iron boots sparkling and thundering every time he stepped on the ground, and his gauntlets big enough to pinch anyone who dared to challenge him.
Unfortunately, the timid villagers never dared to look up, and it would be a bit contrived to maintain such a majestic posture for too long. He exhaled a big breath that he had been holding for a long time, and his body seemed to deflate a little.
"Wicked!" The female leader finally shouted first, pointing her sword at him.
Vega grinned toothy in the shadows under the brim of his hat. He lifted himself into the air with as much force as possible so that all the villagers could see him.
Then the shouting and wailing began. The happiest thing is that someone in the back row even fainted.
He amassed an ominous magic, and a ring of ink-stained light wheels appeared, and purple sparks began to leap between the spear tips and iron objects such as belt buckles. The leader staggered back, a crack as black as night snaked around the villagers, and then erupted upwards to form a vast cage of sorcery.
"Silence!" Vega commanded them.
He enjoyed every step of the way down the long staircase. The mob was trapped, and around them, walls of purple light buzzed and claw-like pillars at intervals formed an eerie fence. He stopped just a sword's distance from the leader, glaring at the prisoners in the arcane barrier.
"I can see the fear in your heart!" He said it in a mocking but by no means humorous tone. "How dare you break into this place and challenge my reign of terror? I am the ruler of cosmic magic, the great lord of evil, Vega! I've defeated countless Arcane foes, and no one can stop me from seeking the greater—"
"Curse my field for two seasons of ratnose worms, you did it!" A different kind of rude farmer shouted, red-faced and angry.
Vega blinked, the sudden interruption bewildering him. "What ...... cursed you?"
"You also caused my family to lame the week before the harvest!" A pungent peasant woman pointed at the evil lord who was becoming more and more confused.
As soon as the voice fell, the crowd erupted, and the villagers began to express their dissatisfaction. Vega could only hear a few of the loudest indictments, most of them talking about rancid milk and wilted beets. As he retreated in the onslaught of words, the purple barrier began to flicker and darken, and finally collapsed, but the villagers did not notice. They shoved forward, yelling at him in the face.
His back touched the stone railing of the steps. He was surrounded.
He tried to answer feebly, and with every word he spoke, his voice lost its thickness. "But...... I...... I am ......" They gathered around and glared angrily, and now they were at his eye level, not up.
Suddenly, an old voice drowned out the noise with a commanding tone. "Calm down, everyone. Back off. ”
"But, Margo...... "As soon as one of them spoke, the leader's glares dispelled their protests. The mob retreated, and Vega was alone with her. She looked almost twice as tall as him now, and her aura of confidence was surging with confidence.
He hated her.
"All right, wicked," she said fiercely. "You've heard our complaint. Have you been wronged? ”
Vega felt like she had been slapped in the face. He puffed up his chest and felt a foot taller. "Wronged? Treat unjustly? He turned and began to climb the steps, standing above the crowd. You came to the door arrogantly and unreasonably, accused you of trivial things, stomachache and cold feet, and asked me to deny it myself, and humiliated yourself? ”
He turned his back and glared at them.
"I'm wronged! I'm wronged for everything you say! But don't think I'm vindicating my innocence. You accuse me of wickedness – and I am evil! I defeated the weak master of this Arcane Tower and claimed it for myself, and then I burned your fields! I have also terrorized your warlords, beaten them to the ground, and made them swear never to return! He strode up the last two steps. And I've started my horror crusade strategy, so don't even think about running away from the evil wizards in the neighborhood! I won't allow anyone to stand in my way in my quest for ultimate magical power! ”
As soon as he finished speaking, there was a loud explosion in the sky, and magical arrows shot down from the clouds and exploded around the courtyard. Vega looked up to the sky and laughed, and he was ecstatic at the moment of evil and glory. The weaker mortals will beg for forgiveness under his terrifying power.
When he stopped to catch his breath, he found that the villagers were sitting in a heap discussing something, and from time to time they cast scrutinizing glances in his direction. One of the women looked up. "Have you defeated the cruel Vescis? Is that the warlord? ”
"Of course! She didn't show the respect she deserved, so I ......"
He was silent halfway through his words, as the attention of the crowd returned to the lively whispering discussion. Vega was a little fidgeting, he was eager to hear what they were saying. One by one, the people nodded to each other and then turned to face him.
They saw Vega calmly admiring the polishing process of his handguards.
The female leader, Margo, walked to the bottom of the steps, bowed slightly in a strange posture, and began to speak to him. "Oh, great and all-powerful...... Belch...... Sorcerer......? ”
"Magician!" Vega corrected her.
The all-powerful magician. We come from the worthless village of Boleham –
"Yes, it's our village!" Someone duly added.
Margo sighed. "Yes, it's our village. You see, that's right, we've learned that we're wrong, so hereby humbly beg the almighty magician, tortoiseshell—"
"It's Vi-Gah! Vega! ”
"Sorry! Vega! We humbly beg you to spare our little lives, and, well, that's it...... Keep up the good work. ”
Vega narrowed her eyes suspiciously. "What do you mean?"
"Well, you know. Let's go home honestly, and then you go on with your ...... Reign of Terror...... Something. Longevity is boundless, terror lasts forever, and there is no other meaning. ”
This must be some kind of ruse. But she's not done yet.
"Of course, we're going to show what we deserve, that is, respect. Cursing your name behind your back. Spread stories about your evil rage. Frenk said he had a relative in Grovet and had heard rumors about an evil wizard, probably ...... if you're interested"
"Destroy them! Take their horrible sorcery for yourself! Vega clenched her fists, imagining a sweet victory over her Arcane rival in a magical duel.
Margo looked at him cautiously. As she wished, Vega noticed.
Finally, after a long pause, he rolled his eyes and waved his staff.
"You idiots! You think you can deceive me, Wicked Lord, Vega? Perhaps you think I'm going to give you a quick and painless end! Hmph, I regret to inform you that your lives are simply not worth my time! ”
He laughed loudly—enough to match the roar of his majestic body.
"Put away your skins and out of my sight, insignificant peasants! Go back to Boleham and pray I don't notice you again! ”
Several of the villagers bowed or saluted before retreating to the broken gate. Margo winked at him unnoticed, then turned away.
"Wait!" His voice was like thunder. Her hand immediately rested on the hilt of her sword.
Vega tried to put on an indifferent look as much as he could, and walked down the stairs again.
"When do you think I'll be able to talk to Frenk's relatives about that wizard?"
