IV. Monasticism and Practice (I)
All realms can cultivate the Dao, and the Dao realm must be cultivated.
Cultivation and cultivation are collectively referred to as cultivation, and can also be jokingly called cultivating immortals.
Let's see how Lao Sun asks for immortals in Journey to the West and asks:
The patriarch said: "There are three hundred and sixty gates in the door of the word 'Dao', and all of them have positive fruits. I don't know which one you are studying? Wukong said: "By respecting the teacher's meaning." The disciples listened with all their hearts. The patriarch said: "I'll teach you the way of the word 'art', how about it?" Wukong said: "What do you say about the way of the martial arts?" The patriarch said: "In the door of the word art, there are some people who invite the immortals to help Luan, ask the yarrow, and know the reason for seeking good fortune and avoiding evil." Wukong said: "Is it possible to achieve immortality like this?" The patriarch said, "No! No! Wukong said: "Don't learn!" Don't learn! ”
The patriarch said, "How about teaching you the way of the word 'flow'?" Wukong asked again: "What is the righteousness in the Liuzi Gate?" The patriarch said: "In the Liuzi Gate, there are Confucianism, Buddhism, Taoism, Yin and Yang, Moism, and medicine, or reading scriptures, or reciting Buddha, and descending to the truth. Wukong said: "Is it possible to achieve immortality like this?" The patriarch said: "If you want to live forever, it is also like 'a pillar in the wall'." Wukong said: "According to this, it will not last long. Don't learn! Don't learn! ”
The patriarch said: "How about teaching you the way of the word 'quiet'?" Wukong said: "In the Jingzi Gate, is it a positive fruit?" The patriarch said: "This is to rest the grain and keep the grain, be quiet and do nothing, participate in meditation, precept fasting, or sleep gong, or make meritorious service, and merit it into the fixed sitting pass." Wukong said: "Can you live forever like this?" The patriarch said: "It also looks like 'kiln head adobe'." Wukong said: "It's not long-term. Don't learn! Don't learn! ”
The patriarch said: "How about teaching you the way of 'moving' the word door?" Wukong said: "The way to move, but what?" The patriarch said: "This is a promising work, picking yin and supplementing yang, climbing the bow**, rubbing the umbilicus, concocting it with a square, burning grass and beating the ding, entering red lead, refining autumn stones, and taking women's milk and the like." Wukong said: "Don't learn either!" Don't learn! ”
Lao Sun was hit three times on the head. Fan Ren said with a smile: Is the patriarch Tang monk, and he is also verbose. It's so hard to learn.
What this chapter is going to talk about is the cultivation from being sentient to being ruthless. Since the old-fashioned ones mentioned above can't become immortals, modern people have mastered so many new technologies, so they naturally have to have a new atmosphere.
People are born with affection, and the avenue is ruthless, and the evolution of emotional intelligence is the secret of the ancestor.
Let's take a look at how the ancients practiced blindly:
Trained to resemble a crane,
Thousands of Panasonic two letters,
I came to ask without further words,
The clouds are in the blue sky and the water is in the bottle.
Emperor Jiajing in the [Ming Dynasty] appeared in the praises, which was impressive. The emperor of the Ming Dynasty was also a top pursuit, not just thinking, eating, drinking and having fun in the south of the Yangtze River, burning books and pit Confucianism and blackening the former dynasty. Qin Shi Huang actually pits a monk who can't ask for immortal medicine, and he also sent Xu Fu to Japan, and he is extremely enthusiastic about cultivating immortals. Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty was not inferior, and once wrote the famous "Autumn Wind Speech": "There is a lot of joy and sorrow, and when is it young and strong?" In the middle school textbook, Li He's 'Golden and Bronze Immortal Ci Han Song' is the tail of his hand. The most sloppy Song Huizong, who called himself the Emperor of Daojun, is hundreds of millions of dollars in any painting, and he also kicks a good ball, and it is amazing to live in modern times, and he actually relies on the Taoist priest Guo Jing's method to return the gold soldiers, harming others and himself.
Cultivation requires wealth and law: wealth, ensuring vegetables, rice, oil and salt, and living a worry-free life; couples, good social and family relations, so as not to worry; Dharma, the correct way and method of cultivation. Suitable living and working environment.
No one can compare to the emperor. Emperor Jiajing, who reigned for more than 40 years, regarded state affairs as a sideline business all his life, and cultivated Taoism as his main business, what kind of resources did he have? He doesn't go to court all the year round, but he plays the ministers of the Manchu Dynasty around. Such a smart person, all of them were crooked, forcing the palace maids to rebel, and they were almost strangled to death, which is a big joke in the world. According to Jiajing, it is the prototype of Jia Jing in Dream of Red Mansions, let's see how it is written:
was laughing endlessly, and suddenly saw a few people in the East Mansion running in a panic and said, "My lord, it's good." (Bintian is a word that only the emperor can use) When everyone heard this, they were startled, and they all hurriedly said: "It's okay and there is no disease, why is it gone?" The family said: "The master cultivates every day, and he must be a complete merit and ascend to immortal." ”……
When the doctors saw that the person was dead, where to diagnose the pulse, they knew that Jia Jing's qi channeling technique was always illusory, and even went to the stars to fight, guard Gengshen, serve the spiritual sand, act in vain, and work too hard and laborious, but hurt his life. Although he is dead now, his belly is as hard as iron, and his skin and lips are burned and cracked. Then he replied to his daughter-in-law: "It is a Xuanjiao that swallowed gold and sand, burned and died." ”
What a lesson from the past!
In the way of monasticism, we should pay special attention to eliminating the false and retaining the true. For example, alchemy, modern people know that it is just a chemical reaction, and lead and mercury are poisonous. The operation in the room, collecting yin and supplementing yang, is absurd. Open up the seven meridians and eight veins, who has seen the empirical evidence? In addition, we know that breathing is oxygen inhalation, exhaling carbon dioxide, circulating through the whole body by blood, and the fetus does not use its mouth and nose to pass through the umbilical cord.
Poor in science, rich in literature, noble in Taoism. Corresponding to the three levels of life: first seeking warmth, then lust, and finally bliss. Satiety is the material pursuit, lust is the spiritual pursuit of culture and entertainment, and bliss is the exploration of the essence of life and the Tao of immortality. This process is progressive and cannot be achieved overnight.
Fan Ren, you have to think that cultivation is meditation, or retreat. Then it's a pity that you misunderstood this book. I'm not exempt from vulgarity, and the next [Meditation and Sleep] is definitely the most important chapter, but I don't know how to write it yet.
Meditation is just a daily exercise, and meditation is nothing more than a daydream (this sentence can wake up countless fools. )
Cultivation can be divided into internal cultivation and external cultivation, internal cultivation of body and mind, learning and exercise; Practicing goodness outside, benefiting the society, and making contributions. Monasticism is a step to the next level.
How to practice? If I want to say that earning money is practice, will you beat me? Well, to put it another way: all actions that can improve one's own state are spiritual practices.
For example, some people like to steal things, they find it very exciting, and being caught and beaten half to death can improve the realm, yes, no problem, do it, and cultivate into a pervert.
Cultivation must first be cultivated. Otherwise, do whatever you want, violate the law and human feelings, and violate the original intention of cultivation.
In terms of morality and conduct, in fact, you can see the Eight Honors and Eight Shames, isn't it too the main theme? But since we live in society, unity with mainstream values is a prerequisite for physical and mental harmony.
Fan Ren likes to find excitement as a way to satisfy emotional needs. Everyone knows that it's better to laugh than to cry, is that really the case? Joy, anger and sorrow are inevitably accompanied, success or failure, gains and losses, emotions themselves, people have no preferences. Those who love to watch comedy are not more than those who love to watch tragedy, and if it is not involved in gains and losses, people like to experience emotional ups and downs very much. All successful entertainment works must have been successful in touching people's hearts.
But anyone who can mobilize people's extreme emotions, hehe, congratulations, harvest iron powder. Because when people are in extreme emotion, they will be extremely focused, show their true colors, and gain abilities far beyond ordinary times. This is the Dao realm, which is as addictive as taking drugs, so the things that can make people crazy can arouse extreme feelings, such as war, rock, pyramid schemes, competitive sports, cults, gambling, etc., and it is difficult to achieve extreme affection in daily ordinary life.
To be able to achieve extreme affection in the ordinary is the way to attain enlightenment. So Mr. Yang Ming's poetry:
Hungry to eat, sleepy to sleep,
Only this cultivation of immortals is more mysterious,
Saying that he does not believe in the world,
But he looks for immortals from outside his body.
The emotions of joy, anger and sorrow will dissipate immediately, and the mentality of suffering from gains and losses will be lowered.
Ruthless may not be a true hero, and the daughter will come back after dispersing.
Only if there is a promise will there be a heart of gain and loss, and if there is no action, you can express it as much as you want, laugh and scold, emotionally publicize, and send love to the world.
Success or failure, gains and losses, are all chickens and insects, and there is nothing else outside of this heart.
I measure the state of people with only one word "quiet", this silence is calm stillness, not dynamic stillness, don't misunderstand. This is really a wonderful expression, hehe, even if it is not recognized now, in N years, it is bound to become a model of monasticism.
Entering the realm of the Tao with affection is promising, and it is practice; Entering the realm of the Tao with ruthlessness is non-action, and it is the path of cultivation.
This person said, I don't have any wealth and law, can I practice? Of course, you can, don't care if you dig coal, farm, sit in the office, deliver couriers, no one is noble or low, you have your own way of making a living, you have your own Taoism, and you are all practicing.
All the ways to do things are all cultivation. Doing is only practice, and doing nothing can lead to cultivation.
Inaction is not not doing things, only doing things without utilitarianism (wit) is inaction. In order to do nothing, do nothing.
But do good deeds, don't ask about the future.
To put it simply, we must do things with a mindset of nothing, and people want to do things without getting caught up in the chaos of things. It's naturally too hard.
There is something but the mentality of nothing is "quiet".
Mount Tai collapsed in front and the color remained unchanged, which was the demeanor of a general.
