Change (Extra)
What they don't know is that the moment of change is coming. Magic once pushed the Runeterras to the brink of extinction, and Demacia was built on a foundation to create a place where this power was disabled. Many of the kingdom's folklore tell stories of pure hearts being seduced and darkened by magic. It's true that Lux and Galen's uncle was killed by an uncontrolled mage a few years ago.
And there are terrible whispers of rumors from the other side of the mountain that magic is rising again in the world......
On a fateful night, Lux and her horses are attacked by a pack of hungry saber-toothed wolves. In a moment of fear and despair, the young girl unleashed a torrent of demonic light deep within her body, defeating the beast, but she trembled in fear. Magic, the horror of Demacia's mythological tales, is as much a part of her as is the bloodline of the crownguard.
Fear and doubt gnawed at her. Will she turn bad? Will she become the embodiment of abomination, imprisoned or banished? At the very least, if her abilities were discovered by others, it would bring the crown's surname to shame forever.
As Galen stayed away from Mithril City for more time, Lux found herself alone in the halls of her family's old mansion. But gradually, she began to know her magic all the time, and the sleepless nights of clenching her fists and hoping for the light in her heart to fade began to dwindle. She began to conduct secret experiments, playing with the sunlight in the courtyard, bending the light into sturdy forms, and even creating a glittering human form in the palm of her hand. She was determined to keep it a secret and hide her abilities as much as possible.
At the age of sixteen, she traveled with her father, Pete, and mother, Ogsha, to their official mansion in Demacia's Xiongdu to witness Galen's inauguration as the Intrepid Pioneer.
The city dazzles Lux. It is a monument to the noble ideals of Demacia, where every citizen is protected and cared for. Here, too, Lux learns about the Illuminators, a charitable religious group that helps the sick and the needy. In her spare time at the Family Rites, she became close friends with a knight named Kacina of the Illuminators, and they sparred and trained in the gardens of the Crownguard Manor, where she taught Lux many of the techniques of combat.
As she spent more time in the capital, Lux finally began to understand the wider world—the diversity of the world, the history of the world. Now that she understands that Demacia's way of life is not the only way, she sees with clear eyes her love for her country, but also her desire for the future, her desire to make it more just...... Maybe she can be a little more tolerant of a mage like her.
Galen and his sister Lux, both from the noble family of Demacia's crownguards, learned from a very young age that he was expected to defend Demacia's royal power. His father, Pete, was a highly decorated officer, and his aunt, Tiana, was a swordsman in the intrepid vanguard of the elite troops—both of whom were appreciated and respected by King Gawain III. It was natural for all to assume that Galen would one day be loyal to the king's son in the same way.
The kingdom of Demacia rose from the ashes of the Rune Wars and experienced more conflicts and strife in the centuries following its founding. One of Galen's uncles, a Ranger in Demacia's army, told young Galen and Lux stories of adventures outside the kingdom's walls, and how he protected the kingdom's people from the dangers of the outside world.
He warned them that one day, something would end this era of relative peace—it could be an uncontrolled mage, a creature from the abyss, or an unprecedented, unimaginable fear.
As if to confirm those fears, their uncle was killed by a mage in the line of duty, before Galen was eleven years old. Galen saw the blow to his family from the death of his loved one, and the fear in his sister's eyes. It was then that he understood that magic was the first and most powerful danger Demacia faced, and that he might vow never to let magic enter their walls. Only by following their founding ideals and manifesting their immovable glory can the kingdom be safeguarded.
At the age of twelve, Galen left the ancestral home of the crowned guard in Mithril City and joined the army. As a knightly squire, he spent his days and night in military training and strategic studies, sharpening his body and mind into weapons as strong as Demacian steel. It was at this time that he first met the young Jarvin IV, the prince of this time and the future king to whom he would be allegiant, among the other recruits, and the two became inseparable.
Over the next few years, Galen gained his place as a Demacian warrior in the shield wall, and soon earned a reputation for bravery on the battlefield. By the time he was eighteen, he had won honors on the frontiers of Freljord, played a pivotal role in the cleansing of the Cultists of the Silent Forest, and fought alongside the valiant defenders of White Rock.
Gavin III personally summoned Galen's battalion back to Demacia, where he presented them with a commendation in the Hall of Valor in front of the palace. Newly promoted to Generalissimo, Tiana Crownguard singled out her nephew and recommended him for the Dauntless Pioneer's trial.
Galen returned home to prepare, and was greeted warmly by Lux and his parents, as well as the ordinary people living in his mansion. Although he was happy to see that his sister had grown into a smart and capable girl, something had changed about her. He notices the change every time he sees his sister, but now Galen has to face a real and painful suspicion that Lux has magical abilities...... But he never let himself hold on to this thought for too long. The thought of the Crownguard being able to control the forbidden art that killed their uncle made him overwhelmed and afraid to face it.
Without any doubt, Galen earned his place among the fearless pioneers with his courage and skill. Under the watchful eye of his proud family and his good friend, His Royal Highness the Prince, he made a vow before the throne.
Lux and her mother spent a lot of time in the capital, playing for the King and a small group of low-key Illuminators – but Galen kept his distance as much as possible. Although he loved his sister more than anything else in the world, a small part of his heart was hard to get close to, and he tried not to think about what he would be forced to do if his suspicions were proven. So he threw himself into his new duties, battles, and training, working harder than before.
When the new Master Swordsman of the Dreadnought fell in battle, Galen found himself being promoted to command by his companions, and there was no objection to the nomination.
To this day, he has always resolutely guarded his homeland and pointed his sword against all enemies. He was not only Demacia's most feared soldier, but also the embodiment of Demacia's greatest and noblest ideals.
