Strategy (Extra)
Shortly after his coronation, King Gavin III addressed the people of Demacia. Although there were many enemies beyond the borders of their proud kingdom, some nobles began to fight for secession, and some families even organized private armies in exchange for the favor of the new king.
This situation cannot be tolerated. Unable to allow such a dangerous antagonistic relationship to continue, Gavin declares that he wants to end the struggle through marriage. His bride, Lady Catherine, was beloved by the populace – and there were rumors at court that the two were secretly in love with each other. The bell rang for a day and a night during the celebration, and at the end of that year, the royal family announced that the king and queen were about to welcome their eldest son.
But all the joy dissipated when Catherine died in childbirth.
The baby born was named after his father's family and rightfully became the heir to the throne of Demacia. In the midst of joy and sorrow, King Gawain III vowed never to take a concubine, and that all his hopes and dreams for the future of the kingdom would be inherited to his only son.
The little prince Gavin, who has never had the memory of his mother, grew up in the court, and was served and protected at every moment of his life. The king insisted that he receive the best Demacian education, and at a very young age began to learn the moral value of charity, the solemn burden of duty, and the honor of devoting oneself to the people. As he grew up, Jiawen later became acquainted with his father's manager, Zhao Xin. This faithful guardian from Ionia taught the prince more of the world's theories about spiritual powers, as well as the various arts of war.
While conducting military training, Prince Gavin met the stunned boy of the Crownguard family, Galen. The two were of similar age and soon became inseparable - Gavin admired Galen's sheer determination and will, while Galen admired the prince's tactical instincts.
When Gawain reached the right age, his father gave him the glorious title of general. Although no one felt the need for the heir to the throne to go to war himself, Gavin was determined to prove himself, with or without the blessing of the king. The lands on the other side of the Shining Mountains have long been contested by Noxus, making the frontier almost lawless, with foreign bandits and warlike hordes threatening many of Demacia's allies. The prince vowed to stabilize the region again. Many years ago, his great-grandfather was killed by an ugly Noxian barbarian, the first confrontation between the two nations in the South. Now, it's finally time for shame.
Reports of successes for his army were frequent, but he was deeply disturbed by the massacres he witnessed in the border town. When he heard the news of the fall of the Gate of Sorrow, instead of following the advice of his lieutenants, he decided to continue his march into the territory of Noxus.
Inevitably, after the battle force was too scattered, Gavin was surrounded by the Noxian warband, and was defeated before he reached Triwell.
Refusing to surrender, the prince and several other survivors fled into the forest, where they were followed by enemy scouts for several days. Eventually, Gavin was shot in the side by an arrow and lay down next to a fallen tree, going back and forth between unconscious and conscious. He was completely devastated. He failed his family, his kingdom, and his fellow brothers.
There is no doubt that he would have died there alone, if it had not been for Sylvana.
Somehow, this strange purple-skinned woman took Gavin all the way back to Demacia, to the ancient castle of Lenwall, where she proved to be a friendly and worthy companion during the days of the prince's recovery. Although her bizarre appearance was intimidating, the commander of the castle garrison could not deny that she saved Gavin's life and contributed greatly to the royal family.
Unfortunately, Shivana herself is being hunted down - by the monstrous elemental dragon, Eva. When the castle sentinels saw the dragon in the sky, Gavin saw an opportunity to make amends for himself. As Sivana prepared to use her half-dragon form to face the beast in the air, the prince staggered down from his sickbed and personally led the garrison to support the city walls. He picked up his spear and vowed to remove Iva's head or never return to Xiongdu empty-handed.
The battle was swift and fierce. When his men left their posts out of fear, it was Garvin who held them together. When they were wounded, it was Jiawen who directed the therapist to save the wounded. It was Sivana who killed the demonic beast, but it was the prince's leadership who held the line. At that moment, Gavin saw the true strength of the people of Demacia – to unite to defend their homeland and abandon their prejudices and doubts. He promised Sivana that she would always have a place among his guards, as long as she chose to accept it.
Garvin dragged the dragon's skull back to his father's court, with Sivana by his side. Although the king had mixed feelings about his son's return, some of the nobles present quietly questioned the wisdom of letting this creature side the prince...... Not to mention making her a member of the Guardians.
Despite this, Gavin returned to his position in the military, and began to play a key role in major matters other than defending his homeland. His friend Galen is now a master swordsman of the Intrepid Vanguard, Sivana trains with his veterans at the border, and Gavin himself is confident in Demacia's ability to deal with any unexpected threat.
However, the kingdom itself is already an undercurrent.
The Demon Seeker Legion had the broad support of the nobles and hunted down anyone with magical talent in a large area of Demacia. At first, everyone was in danger, but soon there was a lot of complaint, and eventually an uprising broke out. The mages attacked Xiongdu, and Gawain's father was killed, leaving him devastated.
Although the prince's attitude towards mages has become extremely bad since then, he has not yet fully proven himself to be worthy of the reins of the throne. As a result, he took over the council, which was attended by a number of prominent nobles, including Galen's aunt, Generalissimo Tiana Crownguard. Jiawen will rely on their wisdom and experience in the turmoil ahead.
If he is to one day be crowned King Gavin IV of Demacia, he will have to carefully examine his conscience and loyalty to his country.
General Maisa pushes a cone-shaped ivory chess piece across the map. Jiawen secretly sighed at the simplicity of this white chess piece. No head, no face, a simple circle, no embellishment and no color, it is completely discernible that it represents a hundred Demacian soldiers.
"If we go south with the Order now, we can engage the Argonauts before they reach Pyeongtaek," said General Iber, a stout woman with no doubt about the order in her eyes.
"The Argoh black locusts are ferocious when they swarm," General Mesa said as he paced back and forth in the tent. "They rely on their huge numerical superiority to fend off frontal attacks. If we can't divide and conquer them one by one, we will be slaughtered by the swarms, and we will not have a chance to touch the queen of locusts. ”
Gavin walked to the edge of the tent and lifted the curtain to look out at the valley. If it weren't for the critical situation, the scenery before him would have been soothing—the morning sun was sprinkled with verdant soil, the morning dew shimmered everywhere, and the town of Pyeongtaek in the distance exuded a serene and peaceful atmosphere. But a vicious gray shadow was bulging on the horizon, and swarms were rushing in the distance.
The Argo Black Locust is not a behemoth and is easy to deal with in one-on-one combat, but if they are gathered in a swarm, they will obey the control of a locust queen, and their behavior and way of fighting will become a fierce and tricky whole. This time the swarm was bigger than any Garvin had ever seen.
Maisa wiped a bead of sweat from her brow. "They're going to be here tonight?"
"No," Ms. Ebel said. "We only have one hour, maybe two if we're lucky, and then the Argo black locusts will flood the town of Pyeongtaek"
Gavin returns to the map. Ten ebony chess pieces representing the Argo Black Locust stand on the outskirts of Pyeongtaek Town, dwarfing a lone white piece. The queen of locusts is represented by a slightly smaller red jade, placed in the middle of the ebony pile.
"No matter which direction we charge, we'll need to break through hundreds of Argonauts to get to the locust queen," Garvin said, pointing to the red pieces. "What do you have a proposal?"
Maisa stopped. "Contrary to our words, Your Highness, we should retreat as advances. Let go of Pyeongtaek Town, and another day with elite soldiers and strong generals to fight against the insects **, after capturing the locusts. ”
"Get Pyeongtaek out of town?" Iber asked. "That would be the equivalent of a death sentence for these people. They don't survive for more than a few hours before they are captured. ”
Garvin stared at the ebony and the ivory, the two colors blending in his mind's eye. In the end, all he could see was the red locust queen.
