One of the monks named Bao Jing replied, "When I say nothing, I don't mean that there is no gain." If you want to say that you can get it, if you don't get it, you can get it. Bodhidharma said, "Since you can't get it, you can't get it." Since you say you can get it, what can you get?" Bao Jing said: "What you see has to be obtain, and you have to have it." If you can't see it, it's called being able to get it. ”

Bodhidharma said, "Since you don't get it, you can't get it." If there is nothing to gain, how can you get it? Bao Jing listened, and her confusion disappeared. Patriarch Bodhidharma came to the temple of the Silent Sect again and asked, "What is silence?" In this Dharma, which is still and which is silence? One of the monks replied, "If the mind does not move, it is called silence." If you don't defile the teachings, it's called quiet. ”

Bodhidharma said, "If the mind is not silent, it must use the method of silence." It's silent, why do you need the method of silence? The other party said, "The Dharma is empty, because it is empty." As far as emptiness is concerned, it is called silence. Bodhidharma said, "Emptiness is already emptiness, and so are the Dharmas." There is no phase, where is there any silence, where is there silence? "The eminent monk listened to the teachings of Patriarch Bodhidharma and became enlightened at once. Then the disciples of the six factions all swore to return to Patriarch Yidharma. In this way, Bodhidharma's Buddhahood spread throughout South India and throughout India, and in 60 years, he persuaded countless people to become monks.

Later, a king of South India who believed in the way of Buddhism began to depreciate Buddhism. I often say, "My ancestors all believed in Buddhism and fell into evil opinions, and their life span was not long, and their good fortune was short." Besides, since I am a Buddha, what else do I ask for? The retribution of good and evil is all made up by wise people. As for the old ministers and friends of the Buddhist sect who were respected by the previous kings in China, they were all abolished. When Bodhidharma found out, he lamented King Debo. How to save it? He thought that there were two leaders of the Wuxiang Sect, the first was Borodi, who was destined for the king and was about to attain the enlightenment of the Dao. The second is Zong Sheng, not that he is not erudite and eloquent, but that he has no karma.

At that time, the disciples of the six sects all thought in their hearts: If Buddhism is difficult, how can the patriarch be at ease by himself? Bodhidharma knew what was on his disciples' minds, so he snapped his fingers in response. When the disciples heard this, they said, "This is the message of Master Bodhidharma, we should hurry forward and listen to the Patriarch's mercy." They came to Damour's house and worshipped and inquired. Bodhidharma said, "There is a leaf that obscures the sky, who can cut it off?" Zong Sheng said: "Although I am shallow, I dare not be afraid to go for it." Bodhidharma said, "Although you are wise and eloquent, you are not yet full of power."

Zong Sheng thought to himself: "Master is worried that after I meet the king, I will do great Buddhist deeds and become famous, and I will take away his prestige. Even if the king is blessed with wisdom and wisdom, I am a disciple of Buddhism who has received great Buddhist teachings, so I can't beat him? So he went to the king privately. When he arrived at the palace, he talked to the king about the Dharma, the world's bitterness and happiness, and the good and evil of man. The king confronted him with questions and answers, and everything he said was reasonable. The king asked, "Where is the Fa that you are talking about today?" Zong Sheng said: "This is like a king ruling the country and educating the people, and it should be in line with the right path. What is the way of the king? ”

The king said, "My word is to get rid of evil spirits." Under whom will your Dharma be subjugated? Bodhidharma sat there, and knew that Zongsheng had failed, so he hurriedly said to Boroti: "Zongsheng didn't listen to me, and quietly went to guide the king, and after a while, he was resigned." Go and save him. ”

Boroti respectfully accepted the instructions of Patriarch Bodhidharma and said, "I hope to use your divine power", and white clouds have risen under his feet. He flew up to the king and stopped silently. The king was asking Zongsheng when he suddenly saw Boroti coming in the clouds, and he was so surprised that he forgot his words, and said, "Are those who come from the sky good or evil?"

Borodi said, "I don't care about what is right, but what is right and what is evil." If the king's heart is right, I will be innocent. Although the king was amazed, and was in the midst of arrogance, he issued an order to Zong Sheng to expel the guest. Borodi said, "If the king has the way, why should he drive out the monks? Although I do not understand the matter, I hope that the king will ask questions. The king said angrily, "What is a Buddha?" Borodi said, "Seeing nature is a Buddha." The king asked, "Does the master have visibility?" Borodi said, "I can see Buddha nature." The king asked, "Where is sex?" "Sex is in function," Boroti said. The king said, "What effect?" I didn't see it. ”

Boroti said: "Now it is working, and the king himself cannot see it." The king said, "Do I have it?" Boroti said, "If the king has a role, he has it; If it doesn't work, it's hard to even see your own body. The king said, "In what places does he appear?" "There are eight places," Boroti said. The king said, "Tell me about these eight places."

Boroti said: "In the womb is the body, in the world, in the eyes for seeing, in the ears for smelling, in the nose for the fragrance, in the mouth to talk, in the hands to hold, in the feet to run." He appeared in the all-encompassing sand, and was captured in a tiny speck of dust. Those who know are said to be Buddha-nature, and those who don't know are said to be spirits. When the king heard this, his heart was enlightened, and he repented and apologized to Porati. He often consulted with the Buddhist family members on the teachings of the Dharma, practiced the Buddhist path day and night, and lived until he was 90 years old before dying.

At that time, Zong Sheng was driven out of the palace and ran into the mountains, thinking: "I am now a hundred years old, and I misbehaved before the age of eighty, and it will take twenty years to return to Buddhism." Although he is ignorant by nature, he does not make mistakes in his actions.

Since you can't resist the calamities of the Dharma, it's better to live than to die! So he jumped off a cliff and committed suicide. Immediately a man of God took him by the hand and laid him on the rock, and his body was unharmed. Zong Sheng said: "I am ashamed to be a member of the Buddhist sect, and I should have made it my mission to preach the Dharma, but I could not get rid of the king's prejudices, so I sacrificed my life to blame myself. I didn't expect the man of God to help me in such a way! I hope that God will give me a word to save the rest of my life. ”

The man of God said: "The master lived for a hundred years, and he did not do anything in eighty years, and then because he was close to the Supreme, he cultivated the Buddha under the influence of the Bodhidharma Patriarch." Although there is some wisdom, and there is more self, when I meet all the sages, I have never developed a sense of respect. Twenty years of merit, the heart has not yet been quiet. Because of cleverness and arrogance, it fell to this point. The king does not respect you, and you should know that this is the result of course. If you don't slack and sloth from now on, you will soon be wise. Saints have all devoted themselves to cultivation to attain the Dao, and Rulai is no exception. Zong Sheng was happy to hear the verse, and sat quietly in meditation among the rocks.
