Chapter 698: Dharma Chapter (Extra) IV
();
Then the king asked Borodi: "A man of good understanding and eloquence should be a teacher?" Parati said, "I am a monk and worship the Bharata Ushapa Sanzang as my teacher, and the birth teacher is Bodhidharma, the uncle of the great king." When the king heard the name of Patriarch Bodhidharma, he was shocked for a long time and said, "I am ashamed to inherit the throne, and I am ashamed to inherit the throne, and I am despised in virtue, and I tend to be heretical, and I have gone against the right path, and I have forgotten my revered uncle."
Immediately ordered that the close ministers make a special trip to welcome Bodhidharma. Bodhidharma followed the envoys to the palace to help the king repent of his past wrongs. The king listened to the admonition and apologized to Dharma with tears. He issued an edict again, inviting Zong Sheng to return to China. The minister played: "After Zong Sheng was reprimanded, he committed suicide by jumping off a cliff." The king said to Bodhidharma, "Zong Sheng's death is all my fault.
How can I be merciful and forgive my sins? Patriarch Bodhidharma said, "Zong Sheng is resting on the rock now, just send an envoy to summon him, and he will be back soon." The king sent his envoys into the mountain, and sure enough, he saw Zong Sheng sitting there and meditating. Hearing that the king had summoned him back, Zong Sheng said, "I am deeply ashamed of the king's good intentions, and I have sworn to live in Rock Spring." What's more, in the kingdom, virtuous and virtuous are like forests, Bodhidharma is the uncle of the king, the teacher of the six groups of Buddhism, and Boroti is the dragon elephant in Buddhism, hoping that the king will respect the two saints in order to benefit the wealth and the country. ”
The messenger turned back to his life, and before he could reach it, Bodhidharma said to the king, "Do you know how to bring back Zongsheng?" The king said, "I don't know." Bodhidharma said, "If you don't come the first time, you won't come the second time." After a long time, the envoy returned, and sure enough, as Bodhidharma said, he did not bring back Zongsheng. Bodhidharma then said to the king, "Practice good deeds, and soon you will get sick, and I will go." Seven days later, the king fell ill.
The imperial doctor was called for treatment, but the illness became more and more serious. The nobles and close ministers remembered the prophecy of Master Bodhidharma, and hurriedly sent an envoy to Bodhidharma and said: "The king is seriously ill and is about to die. Bodhidharma came to the palace to offer condolences. At this time, Zong Sheng was once again summoned by the king and left the mountains. Borodi also came to visit the sick and asked Bodhidharma, "What can be done to save the king from his illness?" Bodhidharma asked the crown prince to pardon sinners in place of his father, to show favors, to worship the Three Jewels of Buddha, Dharma and Sangha, and to repent for him, hoping to eliminate his sins. After doing this three times, the king's illness was improved.
Bodhidharma thought that Aurora was familiar with the fate of the Buddha, and that the Buddha who had traveled through the Huadao would go there from time to time, so he first said goodbye to the pagoda of the first teacher, then said goodbye to his classmates, and then came to the palace, comforting and encouraging the king, saying: "You must practice all kinds of good karma diligently and protect the Three Jewels of Buddhism." I won't be there for long, I'll be back in nine years. The king listened to the exchange of tears and said, "What is wrong with this country, and what is good for that land?" However, since my uncle is related to it, I can't dissuade it. I just hope that I don't forget the country of my parents, that things are done, and that I will come back soon. So the king prepared a large ship, loaded it with all kinds of treasures, and personally led his vassals to bring Bodhidharma and his party to the beach.
Bodhidharma and his entourage traveled across the ocean, and after three years of turbulence at sea, they finally reached the South China Sea. At this time, it was the seventh ordinary year of Emperor Wu of Liang - September 21 of the Bingwu year. Xiao Ang, the assassin of Guangzhou, prepared the etiquette of the host, welcomed them, and played the honor of Emperor Wu of Liang. Emperor Wu read the chapter and sent envoys to Guangzhou to welcome the invitation, which was the first year of Datong - Ding Weinian. On October 1, Bodhidharma and others arrived in Jinling (present-day Nanjing). Emperor Wu met with Bodhidharma and asked him: "Since I succeeded to the throne, I have built Buddhist temples, translated and written scriptures, and helped people become monks, what merit do you have?" Bodhidharma said, "There is no merit."
Emperor Wu asked, "Why is there no merit?" Bodhidharma said: "These are just small fruits of human nature, and there are causes of leakage, which follow like a shadow, although there are, they are not real." Emperor Wu said, "What is the true merit?" Bodhidharma said: "Pure, wise, round, the body is empty." Such merit is not pursued in the world. Emperor Wu then asked, "What is the First Meaning of the Noble Truth?" Bodhidharma said, "There is no holiness in emptiness." Emperor Wu asked again, "Who is the person who answered my question?" Bodhidharma said, "I don't know." Emperor Wu did not comprehend. Bodhidharma knew that the two did not have the same mind, so on October 19, he quietly returned to the north bank of the Yangtze River.
On November 23, Bodhidharma arrived in Luoyang. At this time, it was the third year of Emperor Xiaochang of Wei Xiaoming. Bodhidharma stayed in Songshan Shaolin Temple, sat facing the wall, and was silent all day long. People don't know what medicine he sells in his gourd, and they call him "Wallview Brahmin".
At that time, there was a monk named Shenguang, who was a man of great understanding. He has lived near Luoyang for a long time, is well-read, and is good at talking about mystical truths. He sighed: "The teachings of Confucius and Lao Tzu are just rules of etiquette, and books such as "Zhuangzi" and "Book of Changes" are not full of wonderful principles.
Recently, I heard that Master Bodhidharma lives in Shaolin Temple, and the most holy person is not far from him, and he should visit his mysterious realm. So I came to the Shaolin Temple, saw the Tuas in the morning and evening, and waited by the side. Bodhidharma sat facing the wall every time, and the divine light could not hear his teachings and encouragement. Shenguang thought to himself: "In the past, when people were hungry, they would crack open the bare bones and absorb the marrow inside, prick the blood from their bodies to temporarily satisfy their hunger, cut off their precious hair and bury them in the mud, or sacrifice themselves to jump off the cliff to feed the tigers. If the ancients were like this, who am I? ”
On the night of December 9 of this year, the sky was snowing heavily, and the divine light stood motionless outside the temple. By daybreak, the snow was up to his knees. Bodhidharma asked pitifully, "What do you ask for standing in the snow for a long time?" Shenguang shed tears of sorrow and said, "I only hope that the monk will be merciful, open the door of nectar, and purify all sentient beings." Bodhidharma said: "The Buddhas have the supreme wonderful path, which is cultivated through long-term diligence, hard work, and patience. How can you rely on small virtue and wisdom, and a contemptuous heart, just want to get the true ride, and work hard in vain. ”
Shenguang listened to the teachings and encouragement of Patriarch Bodhidharma, quietly took a quick knife, cut off his left arm, and put the stump in front of Bodhidharma. Bodhidharma knew that he was a Dharma weapon worthy of great deeds, so he said, "When the Buddhas first sought the Tao, they forgot about the remains in order to prove the Dharma, and today you cut off your arm in front of me, and you can also get what you are seeking." Bodhidharma then renamed him Hui Ke.
Hui Ke asked, "Can you tell me the Dharma seals of the Buddhas?" Bodhidharma said, "The Dharma seals of the Buddhas are not obtained from people." Hui Ke said, "My heart is not at peace yet, ask the master to help me calm down." Bodhidharma said, "Give me your heart, and I will help you be at peace."
After a while, Hui Ke said, "Look for my heart, but I can't find it." Bodhidharma said, "I'll help you feel at ease, it's done." After nine years, Bodhidharma was going to return to India. He summoned the doorman and said, "When the time has come to return to China, why don't you tell us what you have learned?" One of the Taoist deputies said, "In my opinion, not being bound by words, not leaving words, this is the use of the Tao." I want to talk with more like-minded people about "The Sanction System of Glory of Kings", " ", talk about life, and find a confidant~
