Section 1 The Cluster of Desires is full of Qi
A lot of honey was sprinkled in the warehouse of a honey factory, which attracted many flies, and they were reluctant to leave because the honey was so fragrant. Soon the greedy flies were unable to fly because their feet were stuck with honey. When they are dying, they are sad to say, "We are so greedy that we have lost our precious lives for a short period of happiness." ”
Schopenhauer said: Individual desires are never satisfied, and the satisfaction of one wish leads to new desires, and so on and so forth, and so on.
In a modern society with advanced science and technology, abundant material resources, and a society full of competition, the desires in our hearts are often teased like seeing a bullfight with a red cloak.
The experience of others getting rich can make us blood rush and eager to try; Fashion brands are flying all over the sky, how can the heart be like stopping water; The beautiful incense car has swaggered, and your heart is already ready to move; What is even more unbearable is the temptation of villa bungalows...... Therefore, too often, we will be deceived by the fame, money, and material things in the world, and we only want to get it in our hearts, and we only want to take it all to ourselves, and we will be burned by desire in this way.
Batch after batch of people tied themselves to the chariot of desire, and they could not rest even when they were out of breath. The ever-expanding material desires, work, responsibilities, relationships, and money occupy almost all the space and time of modern people, and many people are so busy every day that they are so busy that they hardly even have time to eat, drink, and sleep. They want to make more money, get a better job, move up to a higher position, live in a bigger house, drive a more luxurious car, and so on.
People can't live without desires, and without desires there is no motivation to move forward, but people can't have greed, because greed is a bottomless pit, and you can never fill it, and greed will only bring you endless troubles and troubles.
It is said that God did not create feet for the centipede when He created it, but it can still crawl as fast as a snake. One day, when he saw that the antelope, the sika deer, and other animals with legs were running faster than him, he was very upset, and he said jealously, "Hmph! There are many feet, and of course they run fast. So he prayed to God, "God, I wish I had more feet than any other animal." ”
God granted the centipede's request, and he put many, many feet in front of the centipede and left it free to use. The centipede eagerly picked up the feet and glued them to its body one by one, from head to tail, until there was no more place to stick it, and then it reluctantly stopped.
It looked at its foot-covered body with satisfaction, and secretly rejoiced: "Now I can fly out like an arrow!" But when it started running, it realized that it had no control over its feet. These feet are creabling, and it has to be fully focused to make a large number of feet go forward smoothly. In this way, it is going slower than before.
The famous Russian writer Leo Tolstoy wrote such a short story:
There was a farmer who went out early and returned late every day to cultivate a small piece of barren land, tired and tired, with little success. An angel took pity on the farmer and said to him that if he could keep running a lap, he would have all the places he had run. So the farmer ran forward excitedly, tired of running, and wanted to stop and rest for a while, but when he thought that his wife and children at home needed more land to live, he ran forward desperately...... Someone told him that it's time for you to run back, or you're done.
The farmer didn't listen at all, he just wanted more land, more money, more enjoyment, so he continued to run forward desperately. As a result, he collapsed to the ground and died due to heart failure.
Life is gone, the land is gone, everything is gone, greed makes this farmer not know how to retreat, so he loses everything.
Or someone silently endures the harsh accusations of their boss for a small promotion, and loses all their smiles all year round; Some people dress up and force a smile for endless dating, and in the end they go home and face only a lonely and pale self...... Should we really ask ourselves, are these really all necessities? Are they really that important?
Why can't we live a little simpler? Cut back on your endless desires, get rid of the superfluous things in life, give yourself a little relaxation, and enjoy the life that truly belongs to you.
Erin James is an American advocate of simple living. After more than a decade of hard work as an investor, writer and real estate investment consultant, she sat at her desk and stared blankly at a schedule full of matters. Suddenly, she realized that she couldn't stand this maddening schedule any longer. Your own life has become too complicated, and cramming every minute of your waking up with so much mess is simply a crazy and stupid life.
It was at this moment that she made a decision: to start a simple life. She set out to make a list of things that needed to be removed from her life. She then took a series of bold actions.
First, she canceled all appointment calls. Second, she stopped the scheduled magazines and cleared out all the unread magazines piled up on the table. Eventually, she canceled some of her credit cards to reduce the number of billing correspondence she received each month. By changing her daily life and work habits, her room and lawn have become cleaner. Her entire simplified list includes more than eighty items.
Do we give our own desires to lose weight?
Desire is endless, if you don't give up something, your body and heart must be heavier and heavier, happiness will really leave you, so you must learn to give up on yourself, self-liberation, and maintain a normal heart. A little less desire, there will be more happiness. Think about it carefully, even if you have wealth in your left hand and status in your right hand, you are a wife on one side and a lover on the other, but after all, these are things outside your body and will not belong to you for a long time.
This is an era of inflated materialism, and a person who is poor will be regarded as incompetent, so more and more people have to throw away their peace of mind in order to satisfy their rising vanity, and throw themselves into the wave of commodity economy without hesitation. In the process of this chase, we lose our innocence and joy.
