(25) Interspinous ligament injury

The interspinous ligament is a ligament that connects the thoracic, lumbar and sacral vertebrae, that is, between the upper and lower spinous processes, and is connected by the spinous ligament. Interspinous ligament injuries are mostly caused by bending over, moving objects, flash convulsions, etc., so clinical practice is generally more common in the lower back. Once the interspinous ligament is damaged, most patients will immediately develop persistent pain in the lower back, which is significantly limited in lower back movement, which is relieved by rest. There is significant tenderness between the spinous processes of the lumbar spine.

1. Methods and steps

See Figure 2-2-25.

Figure 2-2-25 Massage for interspinous ligament injury

(1) The patient is in the prone position, the surgeon is located on the left side of the patient, and the thumbs of both hands are used to knead the painful part of the patient's spine and the Ashi acupoint, and the operation is repeated for 3~5 minutes, see Figure (1).

(2) The surgeon kneades the esophalic, middle and ring fingers on both sides of the patient's waist and spine with both hands, and slightly presses and kneades between the spinous processes of the patient's spine for 5~10 minutes to relieve local pain, see this figure (2).

(3) Connecting the method, the surgeon overlaps the palms of both hands, gently presses the patient's spinal pain area and Ah Shi acupoint, the force is from light to heavy, and the operation is repeated for 3~5 minutes, see this figure (3).

(4) The surgeon uses his thumb to press and rub the patient's acupoints such as Huan Jump, Kidney Yu, Chengfu, Weizhong, Weiyang, Chengshan, Kunlun, Taixi, etc., for about 1 minute each, see Figure (4).

2. Precautions

(1) Pay attention to keeping the whole body, especially the waist, warm, and eat less cold food and hair products.

(2) Ensure rest and appropriately strengthen waist function exercises.

(3) Do not engage in strenuous activities after treatment, and do not advocate absolute bed rest and no exercise for a long time.

(4) The above methods can be effective in the treatment of this disease, generally 2~3 times. If it is ineffective or even worse, you should go to the hospital for further diagnosis and treatment.
