(3) Knee strain

Knee strain is a degenerative condition of the knee joint. Bone hyperplasia of the knee joint and subpatellar fat pad strain are the most common manifestations of knee joint strain lesions, which are one of the common and frequent diseases in middle-aged and elderly people. Strain can cause damage to the fat pad, with hyperemia, edema, exudation, and adhesions, and can also produce bone hyperplasia in the knee joint.

It is more common in occupations with excessive knee movement such as climbing, squatting, and long-distance walking. The patient feels that the knee pain is uncomfortable, and the pain is exacerbated when the knee is fully straightened, and worsens on rainy days and after exertion. The pain may radiate posteriorly to the popliteal fossa, along the muscles of the posterior calf, and down to the calcaneus. If the disease is long and the lesion is severe, there may be mild swelling of the knee joint.

1. Methods and steps

(1) The patient is in the supine position, and the surgeon first gently uses the palm of the right hand to gently touch the knee joint on the affected side for 3~5 minutes, until the local skin is warm, as shown in this figure (1).

(2) The surgeon uses the right thumb and index finger to slightly press the knee eye acupoint on the affected knee joint for 3~5 minutes, see Figure (2).

(3) Then use your thumb to rub the patient's affected side of the Yinling Spring, Yangling Spring, Zusanli, Sanyinjiao, and Weizhong acupoints, and repeat the operation for 3~5 minutes, see Figure (3) in this figure.

(4) The surgeon holds the knee of the affected side with his left hand, holds the calf of the affected side with his right hand, and gently helps the patient to do flexion and extension exercises for 1~3 minutes, as shown in this figure (4).

2. Precautions

(1) Treatment should be carried out on the basis of a clear diagnosis and exclusion of knee or systemic diseases.

(2) Pay attention to knee rest and warmth, and cooperate with appropriate exercise and exercise.

(3) Usually pay attention to avoid sitting or standing posture for too long, protect the knee joint, and reduce the chance of attack and pain.
