(12) Muscle tension headache
The disease is more common in young and middle-aged people, especially in women. It is often caused by mental factors such as nervousness, anxiety, and impatience. Some occupations cause poor posture of the head and scapula, causing continuous spasmodic contraction of frontal, face, neck and occipital muscles, compressing blood vessels, and can also cause ischemia and headache.
Main symptoms: tightness in the head, persistent, blunt, non-throbbing pain in the forehead, occipital and neck. Tender points in the muscles of the back of the neck and shoulders, and sometimes one or more indurations may be felt (headache induration). Headache can be induced when the head is flexed and extended anteriorly and backward. Headaches are longer lasting and last for days, weeks, or months.
