(32) Sacrospinous muscle strain

The sacrospinous muscles are located on both sides of the waist and are the main muscles for lumbar mobility. There are many causes of strain, patients often have a history of trauma of varying degrees, and the pain is mostly dull, sometimes mild and sometimes severe, often recurring, and relieved after rest. It is difficult to bend over to work, if you bend over reluctantly, the low back pain will be aggravated, and the low back pain will be aggravated on rainy days, and you often like to beat your waist with both hands to reduce the pain.

A small number of patients have swelling pain in the buttocks and upper back of the thighs, and tenderness points in the lower back. The spine is generally normal in shape, and there is no obvious obstacle to prone movement.

1. Methods and steps

See Figure 2-2-32.

Figure 2-2-32 Sacrospinous strain massage

(1) The patient is usually in the prone position, the surgeon is located on the left side of the patient, and the patient is repeatedly kneaded and pushed on the sacrospinous muscle for 3~5 minutes with the palm of both hands to relax the local muscle tension, see Figure (1).

(2) The surgeon presses on the pain point of the lumbosacral region with the palms of both hands for 3~5 minutes, see Figure (2).

(3) Immediately following the above method, the surgeon repeatedly pressed and kneaded the patient's Kidney Yu, Bladder Yu, Huan Jump, Weizhong, Weiyang, Chengshan and other acupoints for 3~5 minutes, see this figure (3).

(4) The surgeon rubs the patient's lumbosacral region repeatedly with the palm of his right hand to cause local skin warmth, as shown in Figure (4).

2. Precautions

(1) Sacrospinous muscle strain is equivalent to what we usually call lumbar muscle strain, which is mostly induced by exertion and cold. Attention should be paid to strengthening local warmth.

(2) Pay attention to the exercises that strengthen the lumbar back muscles to enhance the flexibility of the lumbar muscles.

(3) Exercise and exercise should also pay attention to intensity, and high-intensity, long-term distance exercise is not recommended.

(4) Correct and reasonable posture is an important factor to protect muscles from damage.
