Chapter 345: A Monk Came to the West
This netherworld real person is really a ruthless person.
The demons below the Earth Immortal Realm were all slaughtered by his formation. At the same time, a monk came to Xi'an, barefoot, against the wind. He sat in the west and suddenly a lotus flower rose.
In the lotus, there is a rain of swords falling!
The demon clans who went up in the Earth Immortal Realm were chased and killed by the rain of swords, and they cried out in pain.
Xie Baoshu was on the side, and he was stunned when he saw it, where did this monk come from?
Someone next to him began to explain, this monk is from the Tang Dynasty Xuanzang lineage, his cultivation is extremely high, and he originally lived in Middle-earth Shenzhou. Now that the Two Realms Mountains are in an emergency, he has come here, ready to kill the demon.
Xuanzang, a native of Luozhou, is a native of Yingchuan.
He is a famous monk of the Tang Dynasty, the founder of the Faxiangzong, and is respected as the "Sanzang Master", and later the secular "Tang Seng".
Xuanzang is a descendant of Chen Yu, a famous minister of the Eastern Han Dynasty, his great-grandfather Chen Qin, who served as the Taishou of the Later Wei Dynasty, and his grandfather Chen Kang, who excelled in the Northern Qi Dynasty with his academic excellence, served as a doctor of Guozi, and served as Zhou Nan. Father Chen Hui, tall and strong, beautiful eyebrows, usually devoted to learning, read scriptures, admired by the people of the time, once served as a county official in Jiangling, and later the Sui Dynasty declined, then lived in seclusion in the countryside, the sick could not be out, people of insight at that time praised his Zhijie.
Xuanzang studied Confucian classics such as "The Book of Filial Piety" with his father when he was a child, "prepared the classics", "loved the ancient and sage", and developed a good character. After the death of his father, the second brother Chen Su became a monk in the Pure Land Temple in Luoyang, that is, Master Changjie. When Xuanzang was eleven years old, he entered the temple with Changjie to learn the "Lotus Sutra" and "Vima Sutra". ”
In the eighth year of the Sui Dynasty, Xuanzang was thirteen years old at the time, and was rewarded by Zheng Shanguo, the secretary of Dali Temple, and became a monk in the Pure Land Temple in Luoyang, the eastern capital. After Xuanzang became a monk, he first learned the "Nirvana Sutra" from Master Jing in the Pure Land Temple in Luoyang, and learned the "Mahayana Treatise" from Master Yan for six years.
In the past four or five years, through the instruction of many famous teachers, Xuanzang has a deep insight into the "Theory of the Great and Small Theravada Sutras", "The Theory of the North and the South", and "The Theory of the Subject", which is famous in Shuzhong.
In many, Tang Seng is the reincarnation of the golden cicada under the seat of the Buddha, he was born in Jiangzhou, his father is the new champion Chen Guangrui, his mother is the daughter of the prime minister Yin Wenjiao, he is a posthumous son, his mother is afraid that he will be killed by thieves, put him on a wooden board and drift down the river, fortunately was rescued by the elders and monks of Jinshan Temple, take the name Jiangliu, grow up to cut his hair as a monk, and take the name Xuanzang.
If the Buddha wanted to pass on the Sanzang Sutra to the East and educate all sentient beings, he sent Guanyin Bodhisattva to the East to find someone to learn the scriptures. And Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty wanted to have a water and land festival to surpass all sentient beings, so he chose Xuanzang to go to Xitian Tianzhu to seek the true scriptures. It can be said that this is an arrangement of God, an action of the will of the state.
But what is the real history?
When Xuanzang was young, there were two Buddhist scriptures that explained the study of consciousness were very popular, one was "The Mahayana Treatise" and the other was "The Ten Earth Sutras". Around these two books, from the late period of the Northern and Southern Dynasties, there were two groups of Dharma teachers in the Buddhist circles, each insisting on one word and not giving in to each other, one faction called "Regent Teacher" and the other faction called "Earth Commentator".
The young Xuanzang is learning everywhere, when will everyone be interested in sentient beings
There is "Buddha nature", and opinions are very different. Some say it will exist now, some say it will exist in the future, and it will slowly arise after it is cultivated. How do you mean that?
Xuanzang was very confused. At that time, Bo Po, an exotic mage who had just arrived in the Tang Dynasty, told Xuanzang that there was a place called Lingshan in the Peacock Country, and there was a master who was familiar with all Buddhist scriptures. So, Xuanzang decided to go west to seek the law and solve the doubts in his heart.
In Guazhou, Xuanzang met a Hu merchant named Shi Pantuo, who was the first disciple Xuanzang received on the way west, and it was he who led Xuanzang to smuggle out of Guazhou City. But as soon as the smuggling began, Shi Pantuo was shaken, he was afraid of being caught by the official army, so he wanted to kill Xuanzang, Xuanzang repeatedly swore that he would not betray him, and he finally left.
, Tang Seng has to face all kinds of demons and monsters, and they all have to eat Tang Seng's meat in order to become immortal.
On the way west, Xuanzang has to face more cruel natural environments, such as the endless desert, the Gobi Desert, and the towering and cold snow-capped mountains, all of which may swallow up the lonely Xuanzang at any time.
Once, after Xuanzang entered the vast desert, he got lost many times, and even encountered a water cut, and was on the verge of death for a time! After four days and five nights of not getting a drop of water, he fell into a coma. When he was only one step away from death, Xuanzang stood up again and continued to advance westward!
A miracle struck at this time, and his jujube red horse found a small pond, which eventually saved Xuanzang's life. Another time was when he crossed Ling Mountain, they encountered severe cold, snow, avalanches and other dangers, and it took seven days to get out of the mountain.
Half of the team of more than 30 people died in Lingshan, including Xuanzang's two apprentices. No one knows their names, only that they are Xuanzang's retinue. There are many times of crisis similar to this, but almost every time, Xuanzang was lucky to save the day.
Emperor Taizong did not appreciate Buddhism much at the beginning of his accession to the throne, and had more frequent contacts with Taoist priests. Emperor Taizong really changed his attitude towards Buddhism, and it is widely believed that this was due to his worship of Xuanzang.
It is not so much that Tang Taizong supports Buddhism, it is better to say that Tang Taizong supports Xuanzang. He has an appreciation for this monk, appreciating that he can travel thousands of miles to personally walk the "Silk Jade Road", Xuanzang is a Tang Dynasty man who can really "open his eyes to see the world" in that era.
There is also a touch, Emperor Taizong has promised high-ranking officials many times, and Master Xuanzang has always diligently pursued and devoted himself to Buddhism. Especially in the last period of this emperor's serious illness, he trusted Master Xuanzang so much, and even relied on it a little, almost to the point of inseparability.
In this "Holy Order", Tang Taizong praised Xuanzang as "the leader of the Famen", "the pine wind and water are not enough to compare with his Qinghua;
Emperor Taizong praised Xuanzang as "a person through the ages" with his imperial might, whether it is Xuanzang's compassion and determination, or Xuanzang's Buddhism and wisdom, they have reached the peak of the realm. He said that Xuanzang "inherited the words of the ancestors and was taught by the sages", and praised him for trekking through mountains and rivers to study in India and learning the true Dharma, he said
Xuanzang's "one by five laws, galloping in the heart, eight Tibetan and three texts, waves in the sea of mouth", praised him for his erudition and thoroughness, and his invincibility in debate.
Xuanzang's talent and professionalism infected Tang Taizong. Soon after, Xuanzang was summoned again, and Tang Taizong claimed that he believed in Buddhism devoutly, and also issued an edict to allow five monks to be ordained in more than 3,000 temples across the country.
It is said that the emperor often asked Xuanzang to accompany him after this, and there must have been a lot of happy conversations, although not necessarily the content of Buddhism. The Buddhist policy of the Tang Dynasty has undergone a fundamental change.
It is said that when he was a child, Xuanzang was very wise.
There is a little monk in a monastery who has been a monk here since he was a child, and every morning, he has to carry water, sweep the floor, and after doing morning classes, he has to go to the town behind the temple to buy daily necessities for the day. When I came back, I had to do some chores and read the Bible late into the night. In this way, in the morning bell and dusk drum, ten years have passed.
One day, the little monk had a little leisure, so he chatted with other little monks, and found that everyone else was very leisurely, and he was the only one who was busy all day. He found that although other young monks were occasionally sent down the mountain to shop, they went to the town in front of the mountain, the road was flat and the distance was close, and most of the things they bought were relatively light.
For ten years, the abbot had asked him to go to the town behind the temple, and he had to climb over two mountains, the road was rugged and difficult, and when he came back, he naturally had a lot of heavy items on his shoulders.
So, the little monk went to the abbot with a lot of confusion and asked, "Why are others more comfortable than me? No one forces them to work and read the scriptures, but I have to work all the time?" The abbot just whispered the Buddha's horn and smiled silently.
At noon the next day, when the little monk came from the back mountain carrying a bag of millet, he found the abbot standing by the back door of the temple waiting for him. The abbot took him to the front gate of the temple, sat there with his eyes closed, and the little monk did not know why, so he stood aside.
The sun was already in the west, and a few little monks appeared on the mountain road in front, and when they saw the abbot, they were stunned. The abbot opened his eyes and asked the little monks, "I asked you to buy salt early in the morning, the road is so close and so flat, why did you come back so late?"
Several little monks looked at each other and said, "Abbot, let's talk and laugh, look at the scenery, and it's time for us." It's been ten years, and it's been like this every day!"
The abbot asked the little monk standing beside him: "The town behind the temple is so far away, over the mountains and mountains, the mountain road is rugged, and you have carried such heavy things, why did you come back earlier?"
The little monk said: "Every day on the road, I want to go early and return early, because of the heavy things on my shoulders, I am more careful to walk, so I walk steadily and quickly." It's been ten years, and I've developed the habit of having only goals in mind, and no road!"
The abbot laughed and said, "The road is smooth, but the heart is not on the goal." Only by walking on a bumpy road can a person's mind be tempered!"
A few months later, the monastery suddenly strictly assessed the monks, from physical strength to perseverance, from scriptures to understanding, in all aspects. The little monk is here because he has been tempered for ten years
The monks stood out from the crowd and were selected to fulfill a special mission.
This little monk of that year was the famous Master Xuanzang later. On the way to the west, although the water blocked the mountains and there were many difficulties and dangers, his heart always shone with the light of perseverance in seeking the Dharma.
The twists and turns of the road are not the biggest obstacle to the goal, but a person's will is the key to success or failure. As long as the light in my heart is never extinguished, no matter how rough and difficult the road is, that light will diligently guide the way and return as I wish.
