Chapter 5: Rumors in the Streets
Matthew was finally freed from Alpha's slaughter teachings, and the wolf cubs couldn't wait to sit next to Danny, where those strange races finally became living beings, not just rakes whose necks were broken.
Benjamin frowned, "Blood, to the soul alien, with your own blood." Before leaving, Alpha did not forget to instill the correct knowledge into Matthew's brain.
The wagon left Grande and headed north. Seth, who came by bus, was picked up along the way, and Zach was going to visit the 'General' and hear the rumors on the streets.
Although it is convenient to ask Crowley, the rumors are more reflective of the 'General''s reaction to events because they are subjective. Moreover, Zach had a strange feeling about why he was asking Crawley, who knew Barton better than Grande when this guy was a newcomer to Barton!
After entering the North District, I went east, but I was not afraid to tell everyone that vampires were familiar with the Northeast. Because the vampires know that if there is one or two less people here, the city of Barton will not care. Of course, we're talking about what used to be the House of Grande, and since the spring, the House of Grande has changed so much. It's been a long time since the vampire set foot here.
Outside the "General's Rest Station", several people carried ladders and huge signboards to replace the original small signs, and the "General" himself tilted his head, holding a cigar between his fingers, and instructed people outside the door to "be a little taller, a little ...... right"
"New look!" Zack stood behind the 'General' and patted him on the shoulder.
"Yes!" The General seemed pleasantly surprised by Zack's visit. "Well, we've got no fewer bars here than we do on Betch Street, but they're all dead!" he seemed pleased. Pointing to the neon sign and saying, "I'm going to be the brightest bar in the area......!" Hey, hey!"
Looking at the 'general' raised eyebrows up and down, Zach nodded helplessly. If all the bars here were decorated with neon signs, it wouldn't be good news for vampires. It's been a long time, but if it becomes like Becky's, Zach won't have a chance to come out for a late-night snack.
The 'General' tilted his head towards Seth, who knows what the order was. Seth and the rest of his companions left. The 'General' pulled Benjamin along, "I've got something good to show you!"
Last week's Bobo Bar party. It was the second party Benjamin attended, and the topic developed by veterans made the relationship between the 'General' and Benjamin grow rapidly. So now Zach was put aside again, and reluctantly followed the two into the bar.
The smoky bar hasn't changed its look with the new façade, with an idle strong man sitting at the bar. Casual chatting. The 'General' led the two of them straight inside, passed through the kitchen, opened a secret door, and entered the basement.
Zach blinked, "I didn't know you were still in the gun business." β
The ledges and tables are piled up with all kinds of firearms, and this is an arsenal. Although Zach had seen the 'General's men with guns, Zach didn't expect the 'General' to have a complete arsenal!
"It's just my hobby!" The General waved his hand, "Every single one is registered!"
Uh, who would believe it.
The general took out a box and placed it on the table. With excitement on his face, he opened in front of Benjamin.
It's an old-fashioned rifle. Zack weapons were not studied, in the eyes of vampires. It's just a tool that humans use to make up for the lack of claws and teeth, racial pride. Zach only felt familiar, but Benjamin quickly picked it up, loaded, unloaded, loaded, and aimed......
This action is very familiar, Zach remembers, Anthony, Ian, Benjamin have all done this action very well. This is an old gun that was commonly used in the wars of the past, and it is now long since discontinued.
It seems that this is really just a hobby of the 'generals'. Because the bullets of this thing are gone.
"How's that?" the 'General' asked excitedly, "I only got it yesterday!" he took the barrel of the gun and stroked the scratches on it, "You can still smell the smell of the land above!"
It was the smell of the battlefield, but it was actually rancid. Although the gun now looks intact and smooth, God knows how long it was buried.
Zach was really not interested in any of this, and smiled, "Congratulations on getting another collectible." Actually, we came here to ask about something. β
The General glanced at Zack with the corners of his mouth, "I know you're not interested in this thing." He put the gun back in his hand and patted Benjamin, "Look at it here! your brother is a boring fellow!" β
Grande House, Zach is the brain, Benjamin is the muscle, both are indispensable. At least that's a deliberate impression created by Zach, then the correct way to get along with the Grande House is to please the muscles, make him, Benjamin happy, and listen to the brain, when Zach has something to say.
Back on it, the two sat in the small box at the back of the bar, and the 'General' smiled, "Let me guess, you're here for last night's incident?"
Zach smiled and nodded.
"I knew someone was going to ask. The General had already flipped open the humidor, took out a cut and handed it to Zack, raising an eyebrow, "Thank goodness you came." β
The General is a very intelligent and thoughtful guy, and Zach has a crush on him. Just one sentence, which has already indicated the bias of the position.
"You should thank your friend at the police station, he thought of your situation, so. Zach took the cigar and pointed to himself, "I'm coming." β
The 'General' smiled and patted Zach on the shoulder, "That's our mutual friend!" he had a knowing smile on his face, "Who knows, our friends are partners!"
In the Seth incident, the relationship between this quadrilateral has been very clear, but this is not a relationship suitable for public publicity, so everyone maintains a tacit understanding that is not broken. But this is the General's territory, he can say whatever he wants.
Zach smiled, "Tell me, what do you know?"
The 'General' shook his head helplessly, "Last night we were all here to celebrate Seth and their outing, and the news only came out in the morning, and I didn't hear much. He frowned, "But what is certain is, that policeman, uh, what's his name?"
"Chapman. Zach picked it up.
"Chapman?" The General shook his head, indicating that there was no image, but knowing that the name was also information, how to use it was not Zack's concern. He continued, "He was indeed beaten by the gang and the gun was fired by him. The unfortunate wounded guy was sent out of Barton City in the morning and temporarily hidden. β
It has been confirmed that it is a gang, and it is time for Zach to provide information from the police.
"Chapman is missing, he didn't go back to the police station, and now our friends are really investigating. Zach had a smoking cigar in his hand.
"The two of them from the murder team?" The General's brows furrowed even tighter, indicating that the police had already made a preliminary guess and were not ready to recover the living.
Zach nodded, "Do you know anything else?"
The 'General' thought for a moment, "Next, I'm not sure if it's true." The rumor on the street was that Chapman was not dead and drove away on his own. When the beaters went back to clean up the aftermath, they found that the person was gone. β
Aftermath means disposing of bodies and patrol cars, and don't forget that it was a bunch of drunk guys against a guy who them off. They themselves were pretty sure that Chapman wouldn't survive.
Zach thought for a moment, "Did anyone see Chapman leave alive?"
The 'General' pulled his upper lips, tilted his head, shrugged his shoulders and moved his arms directly on the back of the sofa, and did not speak. It's an irritable expression.
That's where the trouble comes in, of course no one will admit that they killed the policeman, so the 'General' has already told SΓΉ Zak in advance, and he himself doesn't know if it's true or not.
Zach shook his head and smiled, he wouldn't ask the name of the gang that the 'General' beat people to, obviously, that would ruin the friendship between the two parties. The vampire has accomplished the purpose of the trip, James is going missing and the connection with the gunshots, he asks, and the matter will turn into the Patton police department versus the gang, and both sides know incomplete information, so it is fair.
Zach stood up and was about to leave, when he suddenly remembered something. At the last meeting, Noe was absent, saying that he was temporarily away from Patton on a business trip. Zach has some speculation that it has something to do with Quest. Zach had a good impression of No, and didn't want this fellow to be hurt in any way, "By the way, is there any news about No? β
The 'general' smiled, and the irritability was temporarily thrown away, "Still outside, after a phone call, he seems to be very comfortable, as a vacation, it is estimated that he will come back when he has a good time." β
Zach smiled and shook his head, "Relay my greetings on the next call." β
The General nodded, told Zach to wait, and went to the basement to retrieve Benjamin, who pretended to be interested in firearms.
Grande's brother left the General's rest stop.
"Where to go?" Benjamin was behind the wheel, his views on firearms were actually the same as those of vampires, but they weren't too painful, and military life had a special meaning for Benjamin.
Benjamin's warehouse is home to many photographs of the time. As for the reason for the deep sub-degree, you can think so. Alpha, who had just lost his race, saw military life as a period of adjustment, and those former comrades-in-arms were the healing process to help Benjamin get out of the grief of leading the race to death.
So he was actually a little unhappy that Zach pulled him out of his memories so quickly.
Zach looked at the sunlight in the car window, there was still some time before dinner, and Louise probably hadn't come back yet. The vampire pursed his lips, "Mary's Chapel." β
James's basic needs have been met, but being stuck in this opposing position is not good for the police or the gang. Zach decided that the good guy would do it to the end, and James's thanksgiving, which is something that Zach values more. (To be continued)
