Chapter 9: The Rainstorm

Sistemm has encountered ants many times since he came to this world, and each time he saw a different species of ants, black, dark red, dark brown, no matter the color and size.

Obviously, these different populations of ants thrive well in this forest.

Several encounters with ants fleeing in embarrassment made Systm resentful, and he wanted to take revenge on the ants immediately.

But after calming down, the Sith knew it was going to be hard.

Even if he grows into a large grasshopper in the future, it will be difficult for him to defeat the ant colony head-on, and there are so many types of ants in the forest that he will not find a target for revenge even if he retaliates.

……

After bouncing continuously, Systm returned to the tree where many butterflies and chrysalis were attached.

A few hours had passed, and it was likely that the hapless insect corpses in the path of the flames had been searched by creatures such as ant colonies, and Heatham wasted no time in continuing to search for such corpses.

For Heatham, the most stable source of food is still the pupae that feed him for more than a dozen days.

As long as he finds a way to destroy the pupae, he doesn't have to worry about finding meat for the next ten days, and he can also safely transform into an adult grasshopper for the second time, and even relying on these pupa to complete the third transformation is not impossible.

Sistemm waved his chelicera and aimed them at the silk thread that held the chrysalis to the bark, and soon a chrysalis fell from the bark.

Systm obviously didn't expect the fallen pupae to be shattered, he just tested if he could get them to the ground.

The pupa shell is tougher than even the strongest head exoskeleton of the mantis corpse, and there is still no way to break through the chrysalis after the upgrade of the Sistm.

But Systm didn't think of anything, he thought of a very shady approach.

Relying on this method, these pupae are not much worse than the total annihilation.

The solution that Syst thought of was to bury the fallen pupa with dead branches and leaves.

It's like a seed buried in the ground.

A pupa is planted in the spring, and a butterfly or moth is harvested in the fall.

Heatham's idea seems very naïve and stupid, and it is also very ridiculous.

But it is very fatal to these butterflies, and the butterflies that break out of the chrysalis will be very fragile in the first few minutes, and the consequences of their unstretched wings encountering mud and dead leaves can be imagined.

Nearly ninety percent of the time, after they break out of the chrysalis, their wings will become deformed due to the attachment of soil and broken leaves, thus completely losing the possibility of continuing to survive.

However, this method of damage is obviously harmful to others and self, and burying these pupae will obviously waste a lot of time for Systm, and waiting for the pupa to hatch also brings the problem back to square one.

Could it be that these butterflies will come out of their cocoons in a few months, and he will have to wait for a few months?

After trying to attack the pupa a few times with the wooden thorns it found to no avail, the sun went down again.

Systham bounced back to the lair he had found when he had metamorphosed.

As night approached, Systm met another insect hunter, bats flying fast through the forest.

The sudden appearance of these bats made Sistemm decisively give up his intention to forage for food at night, although he had [Dark Vision] and [Information Reading] to assist him, his vision was still much limited compared to the daytime, and his mental power had been consumed a lot, and [Information Reading] could not be used for too long.

In the dark night full of dangers, it is not wise to go out and forage for food.

……

It had been a few days since he became a grasshopper, and Systm had become more and more familiar with the control of his body, and he had easily put his body into a state of immobility and dormancy, and his spirit was soon half-asleep.

Tonight was unusually muggy, and Heatham, who had gone dormant in the first half of the night, was woken up three or four times because of the heat.

After each waking up, his abdomen accelerated a few times before Sistham's body returned to normal.

Systham's tentacles felt a moist, stuffy smell in the air.

"Low pressure and sweltering heat, is it a rainstorm?"

As Sisham had guessed, it didn't take long for sporadic dropdrops to fall, then the drops of rain quickened, and the sweltering heat quickly became cold.

Sistum's shelter was washed away by the rainstorm, and the dead leaves kept shaking with the impact of the rain, but fortunately, the wind was not strong in the rainy night, and the dead leaves stuck in the cracks in the bark were also very strong, and Sistum's lair was not in danger of collapsing.

Feeling the dead leaves on top of his head, Systm gradually calmed down, and he soon fell into a dormant state again.

However, as time passed, the head of the Sixt gradually took on a solemn look.

A faint light came through the gaps between the dead leaves and branches, and the day dawned, but the rain showed no sign of stopping......

Although he didn't face the torrential rain, the splashing rain still moistened Sistum's whole body under the dead leaves, and in the still violent sound of the rain, Sistrom heard the sound of running water below.

The torrential rain had converged into a flowing stream of water, and although he had not seen it with his own eyes, Heatham could imagine the rainwater pooling outside, hiding among the dead leaves.

He was glad that he hadn't found a dead leaf to hide under the ground the night he had woken up, for if he did, he would have been swept away by the rain nine times out of ten, and he would have to live and die in vain.

On the second day after the rainy night, the torrential rain continued but showed signs of abating.

Towards the end of the evening, however, the rain grew heavier again, as if to play a joke on Sisstem, who had taken refuge under the dead leaves.

As time went on, apart from the sound of the rain washing over the branches and leaves of the trees, Systm could no longer hear the sound of the rain hitting the ground, and he could only hear the continuous sound of dripping water except for the sound of the rain hitting the trees.

Below the trees where Systm was supposed to beneath the trees, it was supposed to be like a small lake, and the sound of the rushing water had completely disappeared.

Usually strong rainstorms last for a short period of time, usually ending within a few hours, but the forest where Systm is located has been rainstorming for three days and shows no signs of abating.

On the third day of the rainstorm, Heatham's belly was already extremely hungry, and Heatham felt very stiff due to the continuous rain and the temperature dropped.

Sistemm was forced to move his body properly, lest the low temperature cause the blood in his body to clot, which could necrosis and mutilation.

However, moving his body would make Sistum's abdomen hungrier, and in order to relieve his hunger, Sistemm had to keep his body still to reduce his physical exertion......

The cold of the rain and the inability to go out to forage for food undoubtedly put Systham in an unimaginable vicious circle.

The hunger in his abdomen drove Sistemm to bite the rain-soaked bark with his chelica teeth, but that was to no avail, and even the rain-soaked bark was not something his chelica could handle.

……

On the fourth day of the rainstorm, Systham, who was hiding under the dead leaves, finally decided to brave the rain to find food.

With his body, he may be able to hold on for another day or two, but by then his physical strength can no longer support him to go outside to find food, so he can only passively wait for the rainstorm to end in the dead leaves.

Systm is not prepared to leave his life to heaven to decide......
