Chapter 33: Pyron the Conqueror
Masrae lunged towards the ground, fur growing out of his purple skin before his arms touched the ground, his arms turning into feline claws, and his head and torso resembling a panther. He turned his head and looked at Guan Haifa looking at him curiously. In fact, it wasn't the first time it had seen the Night Elf's Black Panther transform, but it still sparked a strong curiosity every time. It looked at its own kind of changeable in bewilderment, sniffing at him from time to time to familiarize itself with the smell of the other person. This made Masrae a little embarrassed, and his round head swayed, motioning for Guan Haifa to follow him. A few seconds later, as if by coincidence, the shadows of the two leopards gradually faded into thin air.
Two leopards, oh no, now one man and two leopards cautiously moved forward, from one shadow to another.
These Black Iron Overseers don't seem to be very attentive either, and most of the time, they are doing their errands. Truth be told, the Black Iron Dwarves never thought that anyone would eat the bear's heart and leopard gall and dare to sneak into this lava city deep underground. They had to guard against the stupid Blackstone Orcs, but those brown monsters had clearly not yet thought of a way to make the large army get through the Guò Suspension Bridge.
But Diego not only had to guard against the Black Iron Dwarves, but they also had to be careful not to be discovered by the slaves. You can't always hope to meet a warrior of noble qualities like Tañok Frosthammer. Humanity cannot stand the test, and those slaves who find their tracks may help them, but they may also report their savings immediately, even if only for a reward such as a small slice of black bread. Sometimes, the enemy of the enemy is not always the friend.
Although Diego and Masrae have tried to move as slowly as possible to avoid making a sound about Haifa - in fact, Masrae feels like a rat running on the carpet is noisier than they are, but in this world, accidents always happen when you least expect them.
Just as they turned a corner, trying to catch their breath in the shadows of the corner, a spotted kobold popped into their sight - the creature was hiding in the shadows of this corner. It happened suddenly, and the two parties who met by chance were all stunned. But just before the stunned adventurer could come to his senses and take action, a terrible scream rang out through the mines.
"There are living people here!"
The standing, half-beastoid creature pounced on him with a pickaxe, stinking saliva trickling down the corner of his mouth, as if expecting the carrion rewarded by the Black Iron Overseer.
In general, it is difficult for ordinary people to tell the difference between a gnoll and a kobold, but among those who know something about the intelligent race of Azeroth, there is a difference between the two creatures: gnolls generally live in hilly terrain, are relatively stocky, appear fierce and savage, and love to rob and steal. Kobolds, on the other hand, generally live in caves - the deposits inside are generally poor, because the rich mines are mostly occupied by other powerful races - they are cowardly and timid, they like to mine, and they are natural miners.
The creatures of Azeroth don't necessarily live up to their name--- the fish-people look like fish, but the gnolls look neither like jackals nor wolves, in fact, they are more like what they call coyotes - i.e., hyenas, but so to distinguish them from kobolds.
The gnoll that appeared before the adventurers was about the same height as the black iron dwarf, and his body was covered with unkempt speckled gray-green fur. Judging from his head, he resembles a hyena, with yellow teeth and blood-red eyes. His eyes are small and his eyes are close to each other. Even in a dry environment like the Blackstone Abyss, they still exude a unique body odor.
A penchant for robbery doesn't mean how high a Gnoll's fighting power is, as Masrae slit his throat with a swift flick of his claw - the door in front of his chest was wide open with his pickaxe held high, and he didn't have time to make any moves to block or parry.
However, this was only the beginning of trouble, and the Overseers were already alarmed, but thankfully not all of the Black Iron Overseers noticed this.
"You guys, go see what's going on over there?" A leader commanded in the distance.
About four or five of the nearest Black Iron Dwarves strode over with their weapons drawn, swearing and swearing, probably thinking that slaves were fighting.
Masrae looked back at his companion with a grumbling look of "I've done my best, I really can't be blamed for this." Behind him, Guan Haifa had a slight arch on his back and a low snoring in his throat, ready for war.
"I hate accidents!" Diego grumbled, and he took out a few small fist-sized tin cans from his bag, pulled off one end of the iron ring, and threw them around.
White smoke bombs, this kind of engineering creation requires the use of spirit cloth and elemental explosive powder, which are specialties of the Outlands, Diego does not have them, but he has made a few out of rune cloth, salt in the stone, and a small amount of dense explosive powder, although these substitutes are not as good as the original in terms of scope and duration, but they are barely able to make a living.
With a few soft sounds of "bang, bang", the yellow phosphorus rich in the salt in the stone burned violently, emitting billowing smoke, because the composition of the salt in the stone was mixed, the smoke emitted was not the standard white, but black, white, yellow, gray, brown, colorful, colorful and terrifying. Although Diego knew that the smoke was non-toxic, the Black Iron Dwarves did not dare to think so, and their first reaction to the smoke was to cover their mouths and noses and stride back.
So, by the time the smoke cleared, Diego and his companions were so far away that they couldn't even see a shadow of them. The dwarves circled, but they found nothing but a few burned, thin tin canisters and a stinking gnoll corpse. They can't even tell what's going on.
……
Diego and Masrae hid in the shadows of a pile of tin boxes, peering into the hallway. Like all dwarven buildings, this corridor is tall and wide, more than three people tall, more than fifty meters wide, and more than three hundred meters long. In the middle of the corridor, there was a flame elemental creature wandering back and forth. The path to the Blackstone Abyss was completely blocked by this creature.
This strange creature was coalesced by the blazing flames to form a humanoid body that was thick at the top and thin at the bottom. Black metal bowls encircled its arms, and the bottom of the fire elemental resembled a tail with a fire mark on it—all elemental creatures, whether summoned or who had come to Azeroth of their own free will, wore a pair of magical bracers. These magic bracers are automatically put on as soon as elemental creatures leave the elemental plane. They restrain elemental creatures that come to Azeroth and allow them to survive outside of the elemental plane. When an elemental creature loses its bracers, it loses most of its power, and is banished back to the elemental plane by the laws of the plane.
"Pyron the Conqueror......" Diego murmured like a dream. It was the most powerful creature he'd ever been in this world. Although in his previous life, he killed it more than once in the game. But when it came time to face it, Diego felt an irrepressible nervousness.
"Next, you must obey my orders, strict obedience." Diago said sternly. He didn't mention Guan Haifa, there was no need for this, he and his pet had reached the point where they could make eye contact. Diego knew that these fire elemental creatures had eyes, but their eyesight was really worrisome, and many times, they had to use their perceptions to observe. In previous lives, many players often relied on this shortcoming to get past its patrols. Now, Diego has decided to do the same.
"In Elune's name, I will." Masrae swore as he followed Diego and reached forward. Giant flame monsters floated from the left side of the tunnel to the right - to be honest, the lower half of the elemental creatures were mostly conical at the top and thin at the bottom, and they had no forked legs, which made them move more than they walked. Diego also reached in that direction, and the two leopards followed him, following in unison.
At a distance of about forty-five meters, they stopped—this was probably the limit of the fire elemental's perception, and at this distance, they could not "see" anything.
Unlike the relatively mild earth elemental, the fire elemental is a creature full of hatred and cruelty. They love to cause suffering. Fire elementals ignite everything they touch and will burn out the air around them. That's why dwarves are rarely seen in this huge corridor - even the Black Iron Dwarves have a hard time standing their temper. This makes it easier for adventurers to at least not have to worry about being discovered by others while they are on the move.
Pyron walked all the way to the far right of the corridor and stopped almost touching the stone wall. He turned and walked to the left.
Diego's face was expressionless and motionless, he even held his breath, not daring to make a sound. In fact, he felt his heart pounding out of his throat. For a moment, he felt like his gaze was even in line with the eyes of the conqueror. He shuddered in his heart, and lowered his head reflexively, lest the other party sense his gaze. The movement of his head down was so rapid that even his cervical spine made a soft "click" because of it.
Luckily, the conqueror didn't make any moves, his gaze swept in the direction where the adventurers were, but he didn't seem to see anything, like there was nothing but air. You know, this road is empty, there is nothing to hide, and the adventurers are as conspicuous as the World Tree on the top of Mount Hyjal.
But adventurers don't have time to be surprised—Pyron is almost on the far left of the corridor, and he could turn back at any moment. Led by Diego, they crept forward.
This flame monster is no longer an obstacle to them. In that city of flames deep underground, more enemies await. Their only advantage is that they are infiltrated, and the Black Iron Dwarves and Elementals are not ready for the arrival of these uninvited guests.
…………
Note: In fact, elemental beings have similar facial features to all humanoids - eyes, mouth, nose, and ears (see Ragnaros, the Lord of the Fire Demons), and can hear, speak, smell, and see. They are sane - and sometimes irritable - to communicate with other sapient beings. All elemental creatures speak the language of Calimagna, but in some cases, summoned elemental creatures can also speak the language of the summoner's plane.
Fire elementals prefer close combat, as they can set their enemies on fire without taking fire damage. They suffocate enemies at the start of a fight to weaken them. Fire elementals are cunning enemies who like to lure them into dangerous areas, such as dry forests that can be set on fire. But to be honest, there's really nothing to burn in a place like Darkfurnace City, which is full of stones.
