Chapter 32: Like a Human
Bruce stood on top of the crane tower and looked down at the dock below, where stevedores were busy doing their jobs. I received a message from Gordon that there was a shipment of Penguins, but no one knew which shipment it was.
The Penguin Man is a financial genius, and he has enough assets to support his private transportation team, mixing in other people's goods to get into Gotham, and the Penguin Man doesn't even mention his name, which is very problematic.
Bruce watched as several containers were lifted from the freighter by a working crane and loaded into a ready-to-go wagon, under the command of a docker.
After watching for a while, seeing that the last few containers were about to be unloaded, Bruce descended from the crane tower through the darkness and shuttled between the trucks loaded with containers like a ghost.
The dock workers quickly put all the containers in their designated positions and directed the trucks to leave the docks one by one.
After making sure that the trucks had left the docks one by one, Bruce returned to the Batmobile, looked at the scattered red dots on the radar, and then selected one of them to follow.
The chosen route of the truck was in the direction of the suburbs, and it was not only this car that was going to the suburbs, but the direction of this car was the Penguin people's property, and Bruce followed the truck until he saw the truck enter a warehouse, parked the Batmobile at a distance, and quietly landed above the warehouse, observing the people inside from the skylight.
The staff in the warehouse did not know that there was a pair of eyes staring at them, and after the truck drove into the warehouse, the staff quickly lifted the container inside, and then couldn't wait to pry open the container and dump the goods inside to the designated place.
Bruce adjusted the mask's visual aid and determined that it was a batch of polyethylene raw materials, which were pure in color and shiny in the light, indicating that this was a batch of high-grade polyethylene particles, a high-quality raw material that is usually used to process plastic products for food.
After calling up his computer and finding out that the warehouse belonged to a plastic products company, he left the warehouse and headed for the next target...........
"Master Bruce, what's the catch?"
Tonight's patrol is much later than usual, which means there must be some special case tonight.
“... No, nothing."
A night of running around didn't get Bruce the results he deserved, it was just the norm every time a case was solved, but Bruce didn't expect that without Jason or Robin's help, it would take so much longer than he expected. He had forgotten how he could solve those cases quickly by himself without this assistant.
“.... Maybe you're looking for an assistant."
Alfred was not very sympathetic to Bruce finding a child to be his assistant, but he was very happy that Bruce would find an assistant.
But he knew that his opinion would only be a breeze blowing through Bruce's ears.
Bruce doesn't have any restrictions on the age of his assistants, but with his suspicious personality, it is difficult for him to trust an adult he doesn't know very well, and children without backgrounds are more likely to gain his trust, which leads to the phenomenon that both assistants are minors.
Bruce, as Alfred had expected, did not react at all to this suggestion, an attitude that he meant to be negative.
Bruce's attitude hit Alfred with a soft nail, and the old man had to continue his work and return to Wayne Manor above to prepare a supper for the wayward young master.
As Alfred's figure disappeared into the elevator, Bruce finally turned to look at where the old man had left.
He didn't want to involve anyone in this life anymore, Dick was an accident, Jason was an accident.
Batman is cool, really cool, he fights the evil of the whole of Gotham, he has amazing high-tech gadgets, he has cool cars, planes and submarines, he's really cool, he can't deny that sometimes it all makes his vanity a little inflated, but the price of coolness, Bruce knows better than anyone.
He thanked Alfred for all he had done, and the old man had given for him and tolerated all his willfulness.
He thought that Alfred would support his choice unconditionally, but it was not until the discussion that day that he realized that Alfred had always disapproved of his choice to become Batman.
Enough is enough, because of your own willfulness, you will get others involved in this life, and that's the end of it!
The next hand is constantly analyzing the ownership of all the containers, trying to find some clues related to the penguin people............
"What you want has arrived"
The penguin man sat in his plush chair and looked at the somewhat disgusting creature sitting across from him and said impatiently.
He really didn't want to join forces with the scarecrow if he could, this guy was just as crazy as the clown sometimes. He didn't want to be the number one test subject for this guy's new poison gas.
"Hmm.... It's almost ready here."
"Hasn't your poison gas always had no effect on him?"
The penguin man asked this question, fear gas, clown gas, hypnotic gas, and even anesthetics didn't seem to have any effect on the guy, which is why he thought the man was a simulated robot, and if not a genetically modified biochemical person, right.
The Scarecrow was joining on his own, and he wasn't in his original plan. The group has no cohesion, and while it is everyone's goal to hit Batman, the goal is too vague.
The Riddler wanted to prove that his fears were working on the man more than he did to hit Batman; Deathbell eventually stayed for the money, but he never felt like he joined just for the money; Bain.... If Bane's demands aren't met in the end, the penguins believe that they will be his next target...
With this improvised team, each with their own agendas and no one trustworthy, the Penguin begins to calculate his odds of winning and making sure that if this thing is successful, he will get the most out of it.
He killed Batman just to clear the way for himself to become the richest man in Gotham, but it is not a pleasant thing to accidentally cultivate a few obstacles for himself.
"I just wonder if Batman, who has lost his assistant, will really look like a human like he has recently been"
“... Do you have fear by the definition of human beings?"
