Chapter Twenty-Three: Barton's Shit
Trucks on Route 27 are like a dull yellow pile of moving excrement in the sunlight. Please forgive me for using such a disgusting description, because it is very much in line with the mood of the people in the car right now.
As soon as the cyan smoke floated out of the cigarette butts between the white fingers, it was blown away by the air flowing in from the car window. The vampire leaned back in his chair and pursed his lips, letting the smoke that was harmful to ordinary people linger in his body for a while longer.
The midday sun weakened the effect of the tonic on the vampires, and as soon as he put down the bottle, the feeling of lethargy hit again. Although Zach brought enough snacks, he still had to take care of the werewolf's perception, and needed to use the stimulation of foreign objects to dispel the drowsiness.
Also in a bad mood for Zach is Konstantin. The priest must have realized that his voluntary surrender to Crowley did not make Grande happy, otherwise he would not have had a ashamed expression when he saw Zack. But as he said, he was right for the church, for the church.
Zack doesn't care much about Konstantin's secrets. 'Born' has always been a mystery, and even in the scriptures that have been revised countless times, there are some very peculiar descriptions in those omitted verses. The souls of 'natural' angels and demons were originally saints around the Holy Lord, and they returned to the Holy Lord after completing miracles with the help of human bodies.
!.
But the truth is that many of these souls, whose lives are uneventful, and some of whom are not even holy bishops, for some strange reason, show their specialness after belonging to heaven and hell.
If Konstantin could really give the soul such a special thing, then Konstantin would be safe with Crowley. For a respectful neighbor who can be safe, Zach has nothing to worry about.
Entering the North End, the van turns into Becky Street. Head in the direction of Puerto Massa. The old place to meet Anthony is there. This stems from what happened when the trio first arrived in Barton City.
From deserted to bustling to gray industrial style, Mike sat back, looked at things and suddenly said a declarative sentence, "We have reversed the history of Barton City and come to the source." ā
Zach tilted his head sideways. Looking at the demon with a smile, he was right, the city of Barton started from Becky, which was connected to the port of Massa.
The meeting point with Anthony is on the west side of Massa Porto, and if you add cat's ears to the owl (map of Barton), they are now at the top of the left ear.
Men dressed as port workers sit idly by an open-air seafood restaurant, which is much less comfortable than in Noll Beach, but it is not affected by the rise and fall of Knoll's stall with the seasons, and as one of the few shops that can serve alcohol in the port, its business is thriving all year round.
Zach soon saw Anthony sitting under a dirty cloth shed. His table was full of food, but it wasn't for Anthony, he hated seafood, and it was for Benjamin. For a werewolf, Benjamin unexpectedly likes crabs, and probably he thinks the sound of breaking crab shells is funny.
"Ugh. Anthony glanced at Mike, "Crawley's people?" asked impatiently. He was extremely sensitive to it, and let's not forget that Anthony was a quarter of Indo. Certain talents run through the blood.
"Yes. Zach smiled, and Mike had already reached out his hand. I introduced myself very politely.
Anthony coped with a grip and pushed the plate in front of him in disgust in front of Benjamin, "I only have one hour, speed." ā
Zach looked beyond a few erected pliers, and the cloth shed above his head was used to shield the heavy oilcloth from the goods, which was very effective in blocking the sun. The vampire's discomfort eased slightly. Replenishing the food with a normal lunch portion, "In such a hurry, I haven't been here for a long time, can't you let me feel it?"
Anthony pouted in disgust, but still gave the vampire time to look around, uh. Reminiscing about the past.
The city of Barton is in the easternmost part of the Union, and further east, is the ocean. It means that when Zach and Benjamin followed Anthony to Barton City, as long as two non-humans jumped on the cruise ship to the east, the current Grande would not be able to save zĆ i.
"Alright. Zach's memories were unusually short, and he pushed a whole crab on the table in front of Mike, who looked very bad, and encouraged, "You should try." Then Zach looked at Anthony with a smile, "First, I want to ask a question. Anthony, how well do you know Barton?"
Anthony stared into Zach's eyes, his lips pursed in thought, sometimes relaxed. Zach doesn't think that Anthony, as the mayor, doesn't know what is going on in Barton, but since Anthony never shares things that are not related to foreign races at work with vampires, Zach really doesn't know how much Anthony knows about Smith.
After thinking about it, Anthony looked away and said expressionlessly, "Is it Smith's business, what is he going to do?" ā
Anthony knew that Zach didn't need to take care of the love of the mayor of a city.
"Do you want to hear about the aliens, or just about the future of Barton? "Zach would always give Anthony the choice, and that's the prerogative of a friend.
Anthony pouted, "Both." ā
Zach raised an eyebrow and smiled, "Okay, Smith and Crowley are up against each other." Of course, he didn't know about Crowley's existence at all. Zach gave Anthony a sigh and continued, "Smith wants farmers and land in the Southside, and I don't think I need to say why. ā
Anthony's face darkened. It's no surprise that the mayor is always more concerned with the city of Barton.
Anthony could tell he was angry, but he didn't seem ready to sue Zach why.
Zach shook his head helplessly, "Anthony, I need to know why, this will dictate my decision." ā
Anthony's tone was not good, Zach was a citizen, and there were some boundaries that the mayor could not cross, "What does this have to do with you!"
Zach didn't mind Anthony's tone and thought for a moment, "I have two options, one will stop Smith from turning the South End into his private farm, and it will also ensure the lives of most people in the South Side (pushing Crowley's actions to Quest)." For Grande, it was the right thing to do, but it also meant that I was going to protect someone I didn't really like. ā
Zach pouted, continuing "One that would fuel Smith (push to Yuri) and affect Alice, she ......" Zach frowned. Chose to skip, "I need to build yƬ, friends and mayor's build yƬ." ā
Anthony fell into thought.
After a long time, "choose the second one." ā
Zach frowned, still the same sentence, "I need to know why." ā
"Something. It's not for you to stop it!" Anthony said as he stared at Zack, then at Mike, "You! Crowley knows it all, doesn't she?
Mike never touched the crab in front of him, looked at Anthony, who was angry at him, pursed his lips and nodded.
Anthony shook his head with a sigh, "Sue you!" He seemed to give up, "The first one you said was Quest, his resistance was very ......" Anthony shook his head again, it was sad. Seems to be worried that Quest is not worth it, "It's stupid!"
Zach felt uncomfortable for the first time, did Anthony mean stupid even to take the Grande House with him?If so, was it a smart decision for the vampires to slaughter the city when Smith turned the Southside into what he wanted it to be, and Grande's secrets were exposed due to too much attention on the Southside?
Anthony looked at Zack's gathered eyebrows and sighed again, "What Smith is doing. It can't be stopped. ā
"Why. The vampire asked again.
"Think about Zach!" Anthony kept shaking his head, "do you think Smith would dare to bring to the surface what he was doing underground?" Is it just because of his status in Barton City?!"
Zach frowned, indeed, that's what he thought. Even though Smith planted banned plants in the South Side, and after being discovered, he could get out unharmed, but it was the people in the South Side who were unlucky. Would someone with a secret want to live in a yard that could catch fire at any moment? Zach didn't want to.
"No!" Anthony stared at Zach. "Medical, medical, hemp!" seemed to be a new term that even Anthony couldn't say, "Have you ever heard of this thing? No! Very well, very quickly." You'll be able to hear it everywhere!"
Anthony's emotions were very confused, I don't know whether he was angry or sad, and all kinds of emotions were mixed on his face, so that Zach couldn't understand exactly what Anthony was trying to express.
"What's that?"
"Hmph. Anthony suddenly leaned back on the short backrest with a look of abandonment, "What's that? Aren't you very familiar with Quinn? Why don't you ask?
"Quinn?" Zach found himself completely left out of progress, "Anthony, I need to be specific. ā
"To be specific?" Anthony shook his head, "Okay." Anthony's hand crossed the table and pressed the other hand on the back of Zack's neck, pulling closer, and the flat shirt was pressed against a pile of Benjamin-made wreckage, "Why are we here in Barton?"
Zach frowned and looked at Anthony, this guy was impatient to remember the past before, and now he wants to bring it up?
"You want to come to Barton City, Quin is your comfort in the battlefield. ā
Zach said. The old picture seemed to return to the eyes, and the young soldiers subconsciously touched their waists while scrubbing their wounds, confirming that they would not have no chance to resist in the most relaxed situation. They pretend to be relaxed about what they will do after the war, and then fantasize about whether their former home has changed.
What they relished most was that in their 'home' there was a family called Quinn, who cared for the children who had lost their loved ones and settled the wounded soldiers. Quin was the warmest thing they could think of on the icy battlefield.
"Hmph. Anthony's face was right in front of Zack's eyes, and the middle-aged Anthony could vaguely find the young look that he once used to hold his rifle tightly, "Shit Quin! Shit comfort! Everything is profit, the interest of those shit shit in the West End!"
Zach suddenly remembered the first time he visited Quinn Manor, and Mrs. Quinn had said that she had decided not to keep a low profile anymore. What did she do?
Zach's question didn't last long before it was answered.
Mrs. Quinn began to promote legal medical treatment based on the idea of doing something for the soldiers who had been wounded and sick on the battlefield...... You know what that is. Of course, Mrs. Quinn's kindness captured everyone's hearts again, but to Mayor Barton, Anthony knew that the former soldier, he knew, was only whitewashing Smith.
West End shit. (To be continued......)
