Chapter 55: Intertwined Conspiracies

Section I

When Harry woke up, he found himself lying in the hospital room, with Hermione lying on the bed next to him. He learns from Madam Pomfrey that Sirius has been captured and could be executed by the Dementors at any moment.

"Listen, Minister!" Harry hurriedly found Fudge and said excitedly, "Blake is innocent!" Peter Pettigrew faked his own death! We saw him tonight! You can't let the Dementors do that to Blake, he's ......"

But Fudge shook his head, a slight smile on his face.

"Harry, Harry, your mind is messed up, you've just experienced a terrible disaster, lie back. Right now. Everything is ready......"

"Nope!" Harry yelled, "You've got the wrong person!"

"Minister, please listen to us." Hermione said that she had rushed to Harry's side, looking into Fudge's face with an inquiring eye. "I saw him too. That's Ron's mouse, he's an Animagus, Peter Pettigrew, I mean, and......"

"Oh, good girl." Fudge said gently, "I'm sorry, it seems that the Dementors have had a bad effect on you......"

"We didn't get dizzy." Harry said stubbornly, turning to Snape, "Professor, you saw that too, didn't you?" Blake is protecting us, he's not a suspect. He was innocent. ”

Snape's black eyes were fixed on Harry, as if he was racing to think of something. Harry never thought that he would one day ask Snape for help, he always thought that he hated Snape, and he would always hate it, but just now, in the face of werewolves, Snape's behavior surprised and moved. He desperately hoped that Snape would tell the truth and clear Sirius.

"Sorry, I didn't see that." Snape said coldly, shattering all the hopes and illusions in Harry's mind.

For a moment, no one spoke, Harry and Hermione looked at Snape in disbelief, and Snape's face was indifferent, looking at Fudge calmly, as if waiting for him to make a judgment.

"Oh, Fudge, Severus, you're here." A familiar voice came, it was Dumbledore, "Harry and Hermione are there too, are you feeling better?" ”

"We're fine, but Sirius ......," Harry said eagerly, and Dumbledore interrupted him with a wave of his hand.

"I'm sorry, Fudge." Dumbledore said gently, "I'd like to talk to Harry and Hermione alone for a while, and I'll come back to you later, okay." ”

"Of course, Albus." Fudge smiled and said, "You can find me in the hall in a moment." ”

Dumbledore nodded, then led Harry and Hermione back to the hospital room......

Harry and Hermione eagerly explained to Dumbledore what they had experienced, Sirius was innocent, and Peter was the betrayer. Dumbledore believed them, butβ€”Peter had fled, and without proof, the Ministry of Magic wouldn't believe it, not even Dumbledore could change it.

However, at Dumbledore's suggestion, they used Hermione's time turner and went back three hours to save Black.

They went to Hagrid's hut and secretly freed Buckbeak, after which Harry and Hermione followed them three hours earlier to the Beater Willow and watched as Black dragged Ron into the hollow of the tree.

The twilight was getting thicker, and it was already completely dark as they watched cautiously as Dumbledore and Fudge returned to the castle. Harry and Hermione hid in the bushes, observing the beater willows through the gaps in the leaves. For a few minutes, there was no one around. And thenβ€”

"Lupin is here!" Harry said that they saw another figure jumping down the stone steps towards the beating willow. Harry looked up at the sky, and the clouds completely obscured the moon.

Lu Hu picked up a broken branch from the ground and poked the knots on the trunk with it. The tree was still, and Lupin disappeared into the hole in the root.

"By the way, our invisibility cloak." Harry suddenly remembered something, "I left it there, look, right next to the tree." ”

"Leave it alone, we can come back and get it later." Hermione said, "Look, who is that?" ”

Suddenly, a figure emerged from the air, his back to them, unable to see who it was. The man pulled out his wand, as if casting some kind of spell, and then abruptly disappeared.

"It's him, it's just that he doesn't get off that barrier." Harry lowered his voice and said, "Snape is probably knocked unconscious by him, too." ”

"Don't make a sound." Hermione pulled him, and she pointed in the direction of the castle - the castle door opened again, and Snape went out and ran towards Beater Willow. Snape stopped beside the tree, looked around, grabbed the cloak, and held it up. Then he picked up the branch that Lupin had used, poked the scar, put on the cloak of invisibility, and disappeared.

"I see," Hermione said calmly, "we're all down there, now we can only wait, wait for us to come up again......"

Harry and Hermione picked up the end of Buckbeak's rope, tied it securely to the nearest tree, and sat down on the dry ground, arms folded on their knees, waiting in silence......

The moment Snape crossed the barrier, Sauron was aware. He dissolved into a mist and silently disappeared into the darkness, on the second floor above him, where Lupin and Black were explaining to Harry the relationship between Black and Peter. Soon, footsteps could be heard from the dark corridor, and after a while, Snape walked out of the tunnel, despite Harry's stealth fight.

Snape's face turned pale when he heard the voices from upstairs, and he hurriedly pulled out his wand and walked up the stairs, unaware of Sauron in the darkness.

A flash of red light struck Snape in the back, and he flew up, landing in a patch of decaying tables and chairs, and fainted.

"What sound?" Lupin's voice came from upstairs.

Sauron glanced at the unconscious Snape, turned into a black mist, and walked down the stairs to the second floor. Snape's arrival wasn't in Sauron's plans, but now that he had fainted in a mess of rotten furniture, it wouldn't have any effect.

Peter Pettigrew had turned back into a human, he cowered on the ground, in the face of Blake and Lupin's murderous intent, he was terrified, humble and helpless begging, watching this scene, Sauron's heart was faintly excited, the more frightened Peter was, the more helpless he was, the more likely his plan was to succeed.

Peter pleads with Harry, but is pushed to the ground by Lupin and Blake, and the pendant falls out of Peter's pocket. Watching Lupin take the pendant away, Sauron suddenly tensed up, thinking gloomily, fortunately, Lupin returned the pendant to Harry.

Without warning, the chain of the pendant broke, and Harry couldn't hang it around his neck, so he had to put it in his pocket.

"Pettigrew can't die, and if he dies, Blake can't get away with it...... He should be imprisoned in Azkaban and kept with the Dementors...... In that terrible place, to endure torture, that is what he deserves...... He's going to be punished, not dead......" Sauron whispered silently as he stared at Harry.

Black and Lupin raise their wands, and Pettigrew is almost desperate, but Harry stands up and convinces the two of them, leaving Peter alive.

"You should be glad I'm not Sauron." Harry said coldly to Peter.

Sauron was slightly startled when he heard this, and looked at Harry in surprise for a moment, realizing that he didn't really notice anything, and was relieved.

On the ground, Harry and Hermione were still hiding behind the bushes, waiting for Lupin and them to come up from the hollow.

"Harry, there's something I don't understand. Why didn't the Dementors catch Sirius? I remember they came. Then I probably passed out...... There are so many ...... of them," Hermione asked in a low voice as she sat next to Harry, remembering the horrible sensation that still sent chills all over his body.

Harry sat down as well. He sued her for what he saw; When the Dementors were about to kill them, a burst of dazzling white light erupted from the other side of the lake, and something rushed from the surface of the lake, and the Dementors retreated in horror.

Hermione's mouth opened a little as Harry finished speaking.

"But what is that?"

"Patronus Charm, powerful Patronus Charmβ€”" Harry narrowed his eyes, "even- Holy Judgment!" ”

"Holy Judge?" Hermione was stunned, she had never heard of the spell, "What's that?" ”

"A powerful magic advanced by the Patronus Charm," Harry said, "only very powerful wizards would use it. Sauron told me that, as far as he knew, only Dumbledore could use that magic. ”

"You mean that's Dumbledore?" Hermione asked, surprised.

"Probably not," Harry hesitated, "Dumbledore's Patronus is a phoenix, I didn't see it at the time, but I'm sure it wasn't a phoenix, and it wasn't necessarily a Holy Judgment, because I hadn't seen that magic."

"Who could that be?" Hermione was also confused, and she hesitated, "Could it be Sauron?" ”

Harry shook his head silently, "It can't be him, Sauron can't summon a Patronus, that's what he said." ”

Hermione was stunned, "But that must be a wizard with real mana, able to drive so many Dementors away...... If that Patronus could shine so brightly, didn't he illuminate himself? You can't see ......."

"It was so bright that I couldn't see it clearly," Harry said with some grumbling, "and the light was obscuring the other side, and I wasn't very clear in my head at the time...... I passed out right after that......"

"Say, could it be the guy we just met?" Hermione whispered, thinking, "Let's assume he planted the barrier, then infiltrated the hollow of the tree, stunned Snape later, and then followed us all the way, finally driving out the Dementors......"

"This doesn't hold." Harry looked at Hermione, "If he's been following us and doing so much, why didn't he stop Peter when he was running away, unless he ......" Harry was suddenly stunned, he looked at Hermione, "You mean-"

Hermione nodded with a complicated expression, "Let Peter escape, that's his purpose......"
