Chapter 39: Sauron's Secret
Section I
Watching Boggart transform into a post-apocalyptic image, the students present were not only shocked, but also confused. They had a hard time understanding the connection between this image and Sauron, only Draco, thoughtful at the sight of the black dragon's golden eyes.
Sauron stared at the illusion silently, motionless, like a statue. Some kind of inexplicable pressure spread from Sauron's body, getting stronger and stronger, and soon, the pressure as deep as the abyss sea made it difficult for the Slytherins present to breathe, and even Lupin on the side was full of sternness.
In an instant, the coercion vanished as if it had never been seen again, and all Slytherins breathed a sigh of relief, looking at Sauron with awe in their eyes. Boggart's changing image began to crumble, dissolving into a restless mist, and then, for a split second, dissolving into nothingness in a cloud of black flames.
Sauron closed his eyes and muttered to himself.
"Sure enough, I'm afraid, but—" The next moment, he opened his eyes, his cold eyes shining with arrogance, staring into the void, "—even if he was afraid. I have no choice but fate, and fate can't help me! ”
"I'm sorry, Professor Lupin." Sauron turned to look at Lupin, who had a complicated expression, and said with a calm smile, "It seems that I accidentally killed Boggart." ”
The Defence Against the Dark Arts class ended in an eerie atmosphere, and while most Slytherins didn't know what Boggart's vision of change meant, the power that Sauron had inadvertently displayed was enough for them to understand the power of the new leader more deeply.
Late at night, in the Slytherin common room, in several sofas around the fireplace, Sauron, Ibikus and a few others sat next to each other.
"I know your confusion." Sauron said lightly, "Without that experience, it would be difficult for you to understand that fear. ”
Epikos and Draco frowned, and Isabella was a little worried. Sauron glanced at a few people and continued to speak calmly.
"It's some kind of ** that comes from the depths of the soul." Sauron narrowed his eyes, "At the moment when the soul is ignited with the fire of the origin, that kind of ** will emerge without reservation, drowning people's reason. That** is so strong that it's almost impossible to restrain it. It's like knowing it's an endless abyss, but you can't help but want to fall into it. ”
"What is that like?" Ibikos couldn't help but ask. Sauron glanced at him and took a deep breath.
"The power of the Origin Fire is powerful and dangerous." Sauron closed his eyes, he held out his hand, and a black flame floated above it, burning faintly. "It can burn a qiē, including the soul, not only the enemy, but also oneself......"
Several people gasped.
"The moment the fire of origin ignites the soul, endless power will emerge, and the pleasure of controlling a qiē will make people lose in it, and make people have an urge to abandon a qiē and let the fire of origin ignite the soul completely."
"What happens if you do that?" Isabella asked.
"Then you will have supreme power......," Sauron sighed, "the Origin Fire comes from the rules of this world, and if your entire soul is ignited, you become a part of the rules, possessing unrivaled power, as immortal as this world." In other words, that is—"
"God?" Draco asked, uncertain.
Sauron hesitated for a moment, then nodded slowly, "However, as a price, you will forget a qiē, and you will also lose a qiē, and become a puppet bound by the rules, but the saddest thing is that you will not lose your emotions - so that you can feel endless emptiness, sadness and loneliness, and when you are tortured by this kind of emotion and almost collapsed, you will find that you have lost even the right to choose death and return to nothingness." ”
"Your Highness, ......," Isabella asked worriedly, "how did you do it?" ”
"I refused," Sauron said flatly, as if to talk about a trivial matter, "I suppressed the fire of the source and kept my heart. Sauron looked at the three thoughtful people and paused, "I'm just telling you this, I just want to tell you that people who can't even keep their hearts don't deserve to have power, especially you, Isabella, don't lose yourself." ”
With that, Sauron stood up, ignoring the three in thought, and went straight back to his room.
After a long time, Epikos came back to his senses and sighed leisurely.
"What we just heard is His Highness's most important secret." He glanced at Draco and Isabella, "If we betray His Highness in the future, and want to come to His Highness's character, I am afraid that we will surely die." ”

The Defence Against the Dark Arts class didn't spread, and for some reason, the Slytherins were all silent.
The conflict between Hermione and Ron intensified, and Hermione's pet cat, Crookshan, took a great interest in Ron's rat spots, much to Ron's uneasiness. The two of them had already quarreled several times over this, much to Harry's embarrassment in the middle.
Draco's plan to establish his authority within Slytherin went quite smoothly, especially after Sauron and Epikos implicitly showed their support for him. As for Isabella, she seemed to prefer to follow Sauron, like a shadow.
Halloween was approaching, and Harry looked a little depressed, and Sauron knew why—third-year students could go to Hogsmeade on Halloween if their guardian signed the application form, but Harry, who lived at Dursley's house, apparently didn't get it.
"Do you think if I asked Professor McGonagall to sign it for me, she would say yes?" Harry asked, uncertain.
"What do you think?" Sauron replied faintly.
Harry was stunned for a moment, shook his head, and said dejectedly, "I guess the two of us are the only ones in the entire third year who can't go." ”
On the morning of Halloween, Harry woke up with everyone and went downstairs to breakfast, his mood was terrible, but on the surface he tried to pretend as usual.
"We'll bring you a lot of candy from Duke Honey." Hermione said, feeling extremely sorry for him.
"yes, bring a lot." Ron said. Due to Harry's low mood, he and Hermione finally forgot about their quarrel about Crook Hill.
"Don't worry about me, I'll stay with Sauron and won't be too boring." Harry said he wished he had spoken casually. "Meet at dinner. Have a good time. ”
Harry accompanied them to the antechamber, where Filch, the caretaker, stood inside the door, holding a long list and checking against a single person, looking suspiciously at everyone's face, beware of anyone who shouldn't have slipped out. Harry glanced helplessly at Filch and walked up the marble staircase alone, through the unoccupied hallway, back to the Gryffindor Tower, and although Sauron had said he could go to the library to find him, he felt that it might be even more lonely if it was just the two of them in the library.
"Password?" The fat lady asked, she had just woken up from a nap.
"The stars are shining." Harry said listlessly.
The portrait opened, and he climbed through the hole and into the common room. It was full of first- and second-year students, all talking and laughing, and a few of the older students had apparently been to Hogsmeade many times, and there was no new feeling about it.
"Harry! Harry! Hello, Harry!" This is Colin Creevey, a second-year student who admires Harry so much that he never lets go of an opportunity to talk to Harry. "You're not going to Hogsmeade, are you, Harry? Why don't you go? Hey—" Colin looked eagerly at his classmates, "if you'd like, come and sit with us, okay?"
"Oh-no, thank you, Colin." Harry said he didn't want a whole bunch of people staring at the scar on his forehead. "I-I have to go to the library, I made an appointment with my brother." After saying this, he had no choice but to turn back. Went out of the hole in the portrait again.
"Why do you keep waking me up?" As he walked away, the fat lady shouted after his back. Harry walked listlessly towards the library, but halfway through, someone in a room greeted him, "Harry?"
Harry turned to see who it was, and saw that it was Professor Lupin, looking around the doorway of his office.
"What are you doing?" Lupin asked, his mouth gentle, "What about Ron and Hermione?"
"Hogsmeade." Harry said, trying to be as casual as possible.
"Ahh Lupin said. He looked at Harry for a moment. "Why don't you come in? I just received a Grindy Lowe for our next lesson. ”
"What's that?" Harry asked. He followed Lupin into his office. In the corner of the office was a large water tank, and a sickly green guy with small pointed horns pressed his face against the glass, grimacing and curling his slender claws.
"The water monster," said Lupin, looking thoughtfully at Grindillowe, "it shouldn't be too difficult for us to deal with it, after all, we've had a Kaba." The secret lies in breaking its grip. Have you noticed the unusual-looking claws? Strong, but vulnerable. ”
Grindillo bared his green teeth and buried himself in a mess of aquatic plants in the corner of the tank.
"Would you like a drink?" Lupin said, looking around for a kettle, "I'm just thinking about making a drink." ”
"Okay." Harry said awkwardly.
Lupin tapped the jug with his wand, and the spout suddenly erupted with a puff of steam.
"Sit down." Lupin said, lifting the lid of the trash can, "I've only got tea bags, I'm afraid -- but dare I say you're tired of tea, right?"
Harry looked at him. Lupin's eyes sparkled.
"How do you know about this?" Harry asked.
"Professor McGonagall sued me." Lupin said, handing Harry a cup of tea, which had a notch in the cup. "Aren't you afraid, are you?"
"Nope." Harry said.
The two of them didn't speak for a moment, and after a while, Harry hesitated, "Do you remember the day we dealt with Boggart?"
"Yes." Lupin said slowly.
"Why don't you let me fight Boggart?"
Lupin raised an eyebrow, "I thought it was obvious, Harry. He said, his voice full of surprise.
Harry had thought that Lupin would not admit to it, so he was also surprised, "Why?" He asked again.
"Well," said Lupin, frowning slightly, "I thought that if Bogert faced you, he would appear in the form of Voldemort." ”
Harry glared, not only did he not expect such an answer, but Lupin said Voldemort's name. The only ones Harry knew of were Dumbledore and Sauron who had ever uttered the name out loud.
"Obviously, I was wrong." Lupin said, still frowning at Harry, "But I don't think it's a good idea for Voldemort to appear in the faculty lounge. I think you're going to be scared to death. ”
"My first thought was of Voldemort," Harry said honestly, "but, then I- I remembered the Dementors. ”
"I see," Lupin mused, "well, I have an impression. ”
There was a look of surprise on Harry's face, and Lupin smiled at it. This shows that what you fear most is fear. Very smart, Harry. ”
Harry didn't know what to say, so he had to go for tea.
"Then you've been thinking I don't believe you can fight Boggart?" Lupin asked shrewdly.
"Hmm...... Yes. Harry said, suddenly feeling much happier. By the way, Professor Lupin, what has become of my brother's boggart? ”
Lupin hesitated, he looked at Harry, "Perhaps, you should ask Sauron personally, maybe he will sue you." ”
Harry didn't quite understand Lupin's words, "Does that make a difference, or—"
There was a knock on the door, and Harry's words were interrupted. "Come in." Lupin exclaimed.
The door opened, much to Harry's surprise, and Snape walked in, followed by Sauron, followed by Isabella. Snape had a goblet in his hand, steaming slightly, and when he saw Harry, he stopped, his dark eyes narrowed.
"Ah, Severus, and you, Sauron and Miss Nemoses." Lupin smiled and said, "Thank you, Severus." Would you like to put it on your desk?"
Snape put the steaming cup down, and he gave Sauron a cold look, then his gaze moved back and forth between Harry and Lupin.
"Hello, Professor Lupin." Sauron said politely, and so did Isabella. Sauron looked at Harry, "I'm still looking for you, so you're here." ”
"I'm asking Harry to see my Grindy Low." Lupin said happily, pointing to the tank.
"Fascinating." Snape said, but didn't look there, "You should drink it, Lupin." ”
"Yes, yes, I'll drink it." Lupin said.
"I've made a full pot," said Snape, "if you still want it." ”
"I'm probably going to have a little more tomorrow. Thanks, Severus. ”
"You're welcome." Snape said, but there was a look in his eyes that Harry didn't like to see. When Snape exited the room, he didn't smile and looked wary. Harry looked at the goblet curiously, and Lupin smiled.
"Professor Snape was kind enough to concoct a potion for me," he said, "and I've never been very good at mixing potions, and this one is very complicated. He picked up the goblet and sniffed it. It's a pity that you can't put sugar. He added, took a sip, and shivered.
"Actually, I can make it too." Sauron said, "You can come to me later." ”
Lupin was stunned for a moment, he glanced at Sauron with some confusion, and after a moment, he said gently, "Well, thank you so much." But to my surprise, I have to say, you inherited your mother's talent for potions. You know, there aren't many wizards who can concoct this potion. Professor Lupin took another sip.
"What's that?" Harry whispered to Sauron, but Lupin seemed to hear him.
"I've always felt bad, and only this medication works." Lupin said with a smile, and then, he drained the medicine from his cup in one gulp, pursed his lips, and smiled mischievously.
"It's unpleasant." Lupin said, "Alright, Sauron, Harry, and Miss Nemoss, I'd better get back to work." See you at dinner. ”
The three of Sauron left Lupin's office.
"What did Professor Lupin talk to you about?" Sauron asked casually, "You seem to have talked a lot. ”
"It's nothing, I was going to go to you, but I met the professor halfway through, so I went in and had a cup of tea, and then we talked about Grindello and Boggart, and then, here you are." Harry paused, "By the way, I just asked the professor what your boggart has become, and the professor said I should ask you personally. ”
Sauron was stunned for a moment, he looked at Harry, which made Harry feel uncomfortable, and after a while, he said slowly, "It's a disappointment, Grindillo is dead, I haven't seen anything." ”
The lie was unsuccessful, needless to say that Harry, who was a twin with Sauron, could tell that Sauron was perfunctory, but Harry didn't care.
The three of them spent the morning in the library, and there were more people in the library than Harry had imagined, which made him feel much better, and with Sauron's help, Harry had done most of his homework, which made him feel better. It wasn't until the afternoon that Harry said goodbye to Sauron and Isabella and went back to Gryffindor Tower.
"I think Ron and Hermione should be back, they're going to be back with a lot of interesting stuff, I'll keep a copy for you." Harry said happily, "See you at dinner." ”
Sauron watched Harry's back as he walked away, and was silent for a moment, then turned to Isabella and said, "Let's go back too, it's not too early." ”
The two men packed up their books and headed for the Slytherin common room.
"Don't you trust Professor Lupin?" In the empty hallway, Isabella whispered, "I can see how wary you are of him." ”
"My parents died of betrayal—the betrayal of their friends," Sauron said without looking back, his voice calm and depressing, "neither Blake nor Lupin, I have no reason to trust them. ”
