Chapter Twenty-Six: Beasts, Insects, and Eyeballs

The air is clean—if you ignore the scorching heat in the air. The gale, and the balls of energy that erupted from her mouth, burned all the insects that could fly in this space, leaving the larvae on the ground to survive. The blood seemed to have evaporated, and the blue light shone brighter from her throat to her heart, but it was slowly dimming.

Most of the energy that Zhendina absorbed from the Rubik's Cube was spewed out by her, and now she had less than one-third of what she absorbed, but it was enough for her to maintain the activation of her body—or rather, to strengthen it. Compared to blood, the energy of the blue cube is more to her taste.

A remnant of breath erupted from Zantina's mouth, like a full burp, and the blue mist of light dissipated in the air. Her paws grasped the staff, and no one could take it from her claws as long as she didn't cut it off.

Zhendina continued to climb on all fours at the top of the hill of ruins, her head turning, as if wary of something. Her vigilant presence was not in the air, but hidden from the ground. Dozens of eyeballs, of different shapes and sizes, surrounded Zhendina from below. The insect eyeballs, which had no eyelids or pupils, were aimed at Gendina in unison, and then, emitting a blazing blue light. Dozens of rays of light dispelled the darkness and landed on Gendina's body.

The light fell on Gendina's body, and the light sputtered, scattered around, and turned into fireworks. Zhendina howled, trying to avoid the light that slapped on her, but there were dozens of rays of light, and there were no dead ends around her, so she could only lie on the ground, using her back and wings to withstand the damage of the light. The power of the light was more exaggerated than it seemed, and Zendina's skin was not a soft outerix, it was a shell that could withstand the slashing of a sharp sword, but now she had a hard time even lifting her head.

The eyeballs didn't stay still, and after suppressing Zhendina, they began to slowly surround them, and some of them flew into the air, pouring light on her iron-boned wings from above. Only the wings of the skeleton were burned by the light and began to turn red—which was not a good sign, and the iron would also turn red all over the body when the money was melted, and then turn into molten iron.

If Zhendina could remember what had just happened, then she would probably understand where these eyeballs came from. The insect man who was easily torn apart by her, although his body was reduced to pieces, but the eyes of his head, she didn't pay attention to it. That's why she's being suppressed now. The wormman is not really dead, her vigilant aura has always existed in this space, and she can't find it because the range of the "distribution" of the wormmen is too large, and the faint aura fills the entire space, making it impossible for her to confirm the location. Because the worm people are not in one place, but in the whole space.

Now, Zhendina is going to suffer the bitter consequences of her own negligence - or rather, the worm has to do a better job than she could have imagined, and in the end she can't fight back at all.

Zhendina's howl slowly took on the color of pain. The light literally melted her wings, burned her skin, and made her miserable.

The endless stream of light, like a sword stuck in Zhendina's body, made her unable to move. But she didn't suffer unilaterally, the surface of the eyeballs that emitted light was rapidly shrinking and expanding, and although the light was still maintained, these eyes were not without any loss or margin. Slowly, some of the eyes, unable to shoot any more light, turned into a shriveled shape and fell to the ground, without any life. But the light was still tilting on Gendina's body, sparks splashing across her hard skin and wings.

The eyeballs are gradually being consumed, falling one by one. The last existence of the insect man seems to be unable to hold on, but Zhendina, who is trapped by the light, is getting weaker and weaker. Zhendina didn't have any effective means of resistance, her wings couldn't be flapped, but she was finally cut off a few wings and tailbones, and those iron bones landed beside her, making a clanging sound. Her skin melted through, revealing the flesh within—if there was still blood in her veins. The blood vessels flowing with blue energy were tougher than expected, and they were barely able to maintain their form when they were hit by the light, but they did not melt immediately.

The taste of being burned was definitely unpleasant, and Zhendina let out a painful roar, the sound waves shaking the eyeballs around her, but the eyeballs did not fall because of this, and still persisted.

At such a time, if one party cannot hold on and stops, then all that awaits him is defeat and death. No one wants to accept defeat, let alone death...... Even beasts and insects have this kind of cognition, they will struggle, they will resist, and they will do everything they can...... Kill each other.

In this underground world, the two heads are perhaps terrible beasts and insects, making the last resistance and fighting, weakening each other while burning themselves. And the turning point of things often comes from objects other than each other.

A bright light like a giant sword slashed down on Jindina's head. The glare didn't do any real damage, just a dizzying light. The light fell on Zhendina's body, losing its form and turning into a diffuse light, stabbing at the surrounding eyeballs.

The eyes of no living being are insensitive to light, especially such bright light. The bright light shone on each eyeball, and the eyeballs of those insects instantly contracted, and then expanded to the extreme. And then...... The blue light began to shoot irregularly. Each eyeball was shooting in a different direction, and the light fell on the ruins, on the floor, on the body of the larvae. What is swept by the light is split in two, or it is divided into several pieces—because it's not just a ray of light that sweeps through. The ruins were divided into sections of Heisei, and deep lines were left on the ground, and the bottom could not be seen, and the larvae were divided, and the cut surface could not even burst out of the juice in the body, because the section was burned to char.

This space should be wide and filled with light. The light was shooting wildly, and the eyeballs were shrinking and expanding wildly, as if they were out of control. If the worms had any organs that could make sounds, they would probably be screaming now, just as Jessica had been when she first shone her sunshine sword at him. Some of the eyeballs, while the light was still emanating, burst straight away, turning into filthy liquid and splashing on the ground.

Jessica, who let the bright light shine, is now lying on the edge of some ruin, with a wry smile on her face that is barely squeezed out. "Am I digging my own grave......

When Jessica woke up, she saw the eyeballs shooting around Gendina, the light slanting down on the humanoid creature that seemed to her to be a monster. She didn't know what they were, but those eyeballs, she was familiar with. Although the worm man is gone, those eyes are impressive, and they don't become unrecognizable just because they have only eyes left.

At that time, looking at the screaming and roaring creature, Jessica made a judgment that she now regrets - use the Sword of Sunshine to get in the way. And now, she has to suffer the consequences of that decision. These rays of light did not avoid her, a person who was paralyzed on the ground and could not move, and those sweeping rays did not intend to let go of any corner.

The thumb-thick light swept over, and Jessica tried to move herself, then gave up, "Goodbye, Captain, maybe we'll meet in heaven......"

Jessica closed her eyes. Then, she heard the sound of a heavy object falling beside her. She didn't feel the pain of the light sweeping over her body, splitting her in two. She was safe and sound, and there was no pain coming from her. When she opened her eyes, she saw the humanoid creature with sharp limbs and a pair of terrifying iron wings, covering herself with its slender body and wings.

Until the end of the strafing of the rays.
