Chapter 27: Back to the Chapel
On the way home, nothing happened to Lulunaka and her group, and they seemed to be calm, in stark contrast to everything that happened after they set off. It was a turning point after something happened to that strange ruin, and after that, Lulunaka seemed to lose her high spirits, no longer disappeared from everyone's eyes for no reason, and stayed in the sight of Olga and the others for a lot longer than before.
By the time they returned to the Cape Chapel to the east from the chilly northern part of the Forest of the Dead, it had already passed two more times. Lulunaka stops and stops along the way, which makes the journey back even longer.
When the four of them returned to the beach, summer was almost over. At noon when the sun was high overhead, Romiona was picking edible fruits and wild herbs in the nearby forest with a basket, and saw the familiar figures appear in her sight on the other side of the coastline. The late summer breeze and waves are more impulsive than usual, and the sound of the wind and waves is continuous.
When Romeona trotted back to the chapel, Lulunaka and the others also happened to be back at the chapel gate. Romeona walked up to Olga, poked her head out, and gently touched Olga's chest with her forehead, which her height only allowed her to do.
Olga touched Romeona's head, "I'm relieved to see you so energetic. He said to Romeona, "You can really take care of yourself. β
"I'm happy to see you're okay, Olga. Romeo looked up and said. For Olga and Romeona, it doesn't take much to know what is going on with each other. For Romeona, Olga is an old man who has known her for many years and is like an elder, while for Olga, she has watched her grow up.
Romeona looked at the others and saw Julius looking a little out of spirits, and Patin had pushed open the door and entered the chapel, and Julius left after him. Julius's appearance made Romeo frown. Compared to the others, he doesn't feel too good, is something going on?
Then, she didn't see Lulunaka, who seemed to disappear all at once. A hand reached behind Romeona's back and patted her on the shoulder, startling her, only to turn around to find that it was Lulunaka with a smile on her face.
"Long time no see, Romeona. Do you miss me?"
Romeona calmed down before she managed to squeeze out a smile, "Of course, I'm thinking about you too, Lulunaka. β
"Thank you for remembering me. Lulunaka reached out and took Romeona's hands, "Also, I'm sorry I scared you just now." β
Lulunaka had a sincere expression on her face, which made Romeona a little uncomfortable. A few months is not a long time, but is it enough to make such a big difference?
Then, Lulunaka grabbed Romeoona's hand and began to swing, "You see, I sent Master Olga back safely and soundβno, it may be a bit wrong to say that, but reliable Lord Olga is the guarantee of safety on this journey, especially for a young and immature boy. I'm very grateful to him, and of course to you for giving him peace of mind. At this point, Lulunaka's words still made Romeoona feel quite relaxed, but the words that Lulunaka continued to say made the few smiles on her face freeze, "But the disagreement between me and Lord Olga ...... Probably as many stars in the sky, right?"
Olga was still nearby, and heard Lulunaka. He coughed lightly, "I don't think it's a good thing to be angry with others. β
"It's just a little complaint between the girl's conversations, sir. Lulunaka smiled at Olga, "It's normal for a boudoir girl like us to speak ill of men, right?"
"It's not a surprise. "It wouldn't be strange if you were a girl. β
With that, Olga walked into the chapel, leaving behind Romeo and Lulunaka.
Lulunaka looked at Romeona again, "See? He's a rude guy to me. Of course, he's very nice to you. β
"If it wasn't for a fight, I'm already glad I did. Romeona smiled wryly, "Maybe I should apologize?"
"No, it's not your problem, it's me and him. Lulunaka shook her head, "Don't talk about these unpleasant things, let's talk about some happy things." I pulled out some books for you before I left, did you finish reading them? What do you think? Interesting, isn't it?"
In response to Lulunaka's question, Romeo Ona looked like she was about to speak, but replied anyway, "Some books...... Apo took it. He said, "That's not for me." β
Hearing Romeona's answer, Lulunaka touched her chin with a pensive look. Then she said to Romeona, "That doesn't sound like the news I want to hear, it's not good...... But not your problem. Lulunaka smiled and patted Romeona on the shoulder, "Where is Apo now?"
"He handles fish in the kitchen. Romeona replied honestly.
Lulunaka glanced at the contents of the basket that Romeo Ona was holding, "Very fresh wild herbs and fruits. She took out a green fruit half the size of her fist from Romeona's basket and opened her mouth to bite down, "It's so sour...... It's refreshing, though. I'm going to look for Apo first, thank you for the fruit. β
With that, Lulunaka trotted away, leaving Romeo in place. Romeo watched Lulunaka disappear in front of her, and didn't react for a moment, but when she did, she just shook her head and walked into the chapel. The door opened and the light entered the dimly lit chapel.
Lulunaka quickly ran to the kitchen, just in time to see Apo cutting a large fish in half, and plenty of light was shining through the gap that had been carved out to serve as a window, making the slightly small area look rather bright. Light is really important for a place where meat is being handled.
"I heard movement on the other side of the door, and was wondering how you came back so early. I thought you'd drag it out for a year and a half. Apo said.
"That's been too long, I don't think those people have the patience to spend so long with me. "You know, old and young don't have much patience these days, and those who are patient probably won't be happy to play with me. β
"At least you still have that self-knowledge. β
"Aside from that, I have something to ask you. Lulunaka said, "Did you take from Romeona the Seven Arguments of Theology, The Origin of the Devil, and the History of the Church?" she didn't say, but I think they didn't run away. β
The kitchen knife in Apo's hand slammed down, cutting off the fish head from the cutting board and pushing it aside. The force of the knife was a little unusual, leaving a deep dent in the cutting board. "Now that you know which books I took, you should know very well why I didn't let her read them. β
"Why don't you let her read those books that aren't evil? Lulunaka crouched by the doorway, watching Awa process the fish.
"Those books only make her hate the world. "She's too young for her to read these books." I don't want a child to become a radical heretic at a young age. β
"Which side of the heretics, the Cult of Light, the Cult of the Luna?"
"All the pagans. Awa gave a wonderfully ambiguous answer, and Lulunaka, nodding at such an answer, seemed to understand what Awa meant, "That's an acceptable reason...... Well, try to educate Romeona to be a self-reliant woman. Lulunaka stood up and prepared to leave the kitchen, leaving a message before leaving, "But it would be a shame if she became like you." β
Po didn't answer, waiting for Lulunaka to leave before muttering, "I know, that would be a pity." β
